"It is now."
He wrinkled his nose before grabbing for the otter, almost vomiting. Nothing could have prepared him for the feeling of revolution that came from having the snelson close to his nose.
It was, unfortunately, not a task he could do alone, even with his muscle and size. He turned to the others.
"I'll need help shoving it in."

Reedpaw nodded and shook his pelt free from dirt and mud, his nose wrinkling at the thought of dragging an otter corpse around. But, it had to be done, right? With a small wince he approached Sedgestorm and the corpse, grabbing the tail that felt uncomfortably heavy in an attempt to help. He really needed to hit his growth spurt soon: how could he be a warrior and help with things like this when he still looked like a kit?!

Re: Sedgewater Valley
@ Rani
Peachfrost stayed quiet as Snakeheart explained the herbs, doing her best to memorize each and every word. Borage helps to soothe upset stomachs, but needs to be used carefully. Dandelion leaves work a lot like poppy seeds but are external rather than internal. She found that the more information the Riverclan cat offered, the better it was to repeat it in her head. She couldn't imagine how awkward it would be if she needed him to repeat something. "You mentioned borage is good for upset stomachs. Would that include queens? Or are there better herbs for their pain?" She noticed Blossomfire had moved into the nursery, and yet she had no idea what to do if things went south!
Wait, dandelion... why do I feel Ive seen it used before? She stopped in her tracks as she remembered Twilightstar. Her fierce and loving leader, the molly who had seemingly beaten death, covered head to toe in the chewed up weed. She barked out a laugh at the memory. "Sorry." She giggled after a moment, trying to push down any other snickers. She had been so cold towards Snakeheart since the moment he set paw in her home. Her bursting out in giggles seemingly out of nowhere was probably jarring to say the least. "Sorry I'm paying attention, I promise. Its just, Twilightstar looked insane at the last meeting. It still makes me laugh is all."

Quietly grumbling, the white warrior leaped down to help to shove it in, wrinkling his nose.
"Right. I think us three can get it in," he growled, feeling the otter move under both warrior's weight (and the apprentices', but it wasn't really helping much).

Re: Sedgewater Valley
With the otter now moved into the indent, Sedgestorm allowed himself a moment to catch his breathe before scooping the excess dirt over the body. Once the body was covered enough, he gently patted down the dirt to better squish the scent in and flatten the ground.
Once that was done, he paused and looked around, searching again for life other than the patrol, ears peeled foward and listening. He didn't dare try to breathe too deeply, knowing rot and decay awaited his poor nose still, even if less strongly now that it was buried.
"We should look around a little more before we mark the border.... and even then we should keep an eye out on the way home."
Again, this was said more for Reedpaw's benefit than to Hawkwhisker.

The warrior sighed.
"So," he growled, "Reedpaw, have you ever marked a border?"
They could mark the border literally right next to them now. He marked it without waiting for the others.
"If not, now you know. Can you do it for the border a bit further up?"

Re: Sedgewater Valley
Teeth sank into Fernpaw's tail and the sudden, sharp pain made him panic more than his impending fall into the water. Out of instinct, he twisted and thrashed in an attempt to break free from his mentor's fangs, even going as far as to swipe toward Owltalon's face as the bank crumbled beneath them.
The efforts and words of the other warriors were lost on him, distracted by a combination of pain and fear. The water wasn't looking so bad to him when the options were sharp teeth in his tail or a dunk in the river. He could handle the cold.. despite disliking it immensely, the pain of being chomped not so much.

"I know how," Reedpaw answered blithely. Gentlefoot taught him that first, after all, before he got switched to Lizardfrost. He nodded and ran off to the other edge of the border farther away, looking for a place to mark rather away from the otter.

Re: Sedgewater Valley
Owltalon struggled to hold on as the tom wriggled around. He yelped as Fernpaw flailing paws connected with his ear. " I'm trying
to help you!" he mumbled around his tail. "Stop moving. Do you want to end up in the water?" Sensing the other two warriors around him both holding onto the apprentice, he began to tug upward. @ BILL. @ Dahliamoon @ |+|Lemon'Heart|+|

Re: Sedgewater Valley
Sedgestorm watched Reedpaw bolt off to mark a different part of the border. He couldn't help but wonder how the apprentice still had so much energy.
He grumbled something about missing having such energy before he trotted to his own portion of the border and marked along there. Once he felt it was marked enough, he made his way back to the rest of the patrol, still a bit in edge and keeping his eyes peeled for signs of danger.
Part of him was worried the otter hadn't died naturally. And if it hadn't, just what had killed it? But nothing happened and nothing appeared, no matter how hard he searched.
He waited for his patrol mates to finish up.
