Sparrowsnarl returned from the border in a considerably worse mood than he had left in. He approached Fadingsun, already exhausted from the thought of reporting. "Wish I could say the Smallpines was quiet," he muttered, "but it wasn't. Found Birchpaw fightin' a ThunderClan warrior over the border, she ran away when confronted." He sighed heavily. "Spiderthroat was there to see it. I wanna talk to Birdsnow about this, because this ain't the first time we've had trouble with that one." Another pause. He wanted Birchpaw to be able to recover her rank and status, but her behavior was frustrating. "Cobwebpaw here was out on their own too--but since they been helpin' with the herbs and such, I dunno if she was sent out." He didn't want to get Cobwebpaw in trouble, considering how helpful she had been recently, but he couldn't not report it. He looked to his other warriors, seeing if they had anything to add.

Deerspark briskly trotted into the clearing and settled into an antsy sit next to Sparrowsnarl.
He didn't like this, didn't like it one bit.
Hopefully Bunnytuft would be joining them sooner or later along with the other cats called. Despite how utterly stupid Birchpaw was acting, he still felt sympathetic towards her. It seemed that the once strong warrior had fallen from their prime.
The tom shifted uncomfortably. That's exactly what this clan needed, more troubles.
He nodded in acknowledgement in every statement that Sparrowsnarl constructed, careful not to chime in. For the first time, he was actually ready to speak and spread opinions. Know wasn't the right time though. Another was speaking and they deserved that respect.
He glanced curiously over his shoulder. He stared for a moment, his mind suddenly wandering elsewhere.

cobwebpaw nodded, dipping her head. ' i went out to collect herbs and clear my mind.. i didn't ask to leave though.. that's my fault. i was just about to return to camp after realizing when i noticed the spat. ' genuinely apologetic, cobwebpaw continued. ' i'm sorry. '
Oh no. Oh no no no. This was a plot. Fadingsun had put him on a patrol with a psychotic warrior and the leader. Talonpaw had known they were out to kill him and this only cemented his beliefs. Still, he wouldn't give them the satisfaction.
"Who the hell are you speaking to, dumbass? Birdsnow isn't here. Clearly thinks herself too good to show up, as always. So, are we patrolling or are you gonna stand around and wait to get punished? I don't really care either way."
Ah, dung. Snakechill glanced up from grooming himself as a very loud cat called his name from across the clearing. Hadn't reported a patrol? Had he even been assigned one? Whatever, it seemed like this cat wouldn't even care if he brought it up anyways.
"Flatten your fur, pretty boy," he hummed. "Must he going deaf, because I wasn't aware I had a patrol. Would take it up with a medicine cat, but alas." A pointed look toward the very empty den. "Say we skip the whole demotion thing, that seems like a waste of time. I'll get it all done back to back today and we can call it even."

Fadingsun was already more than a little annoyed today, and Snakechill, or rather, Snakepaw, trying to debate him on his punishment wasn't helping at all. Fortunately, Nightpaw had accepted the punishment with grace. It really was that simple- take responsibility for the mistake that was made and he'd let it go.
Arguing over it, however? That wouldn't fly. A growl rumbled deep in his chest as he fixed Snakepaw with an icy look. "I don't know what about what I just said sounded like an invitation for a debate, but this isn't up for discussion. Birdsnow has made it clear that punishments are to be more harsh, and this is the punishment for patrol leaders who failed to report. Whether you heard the call for patrol or not isn't my problem; I suggest you fix your ears going forward if you want to avoid these types of problems."
The warrior gestured toward the leader's den. "You've got two choices here. Either accept your punishment and move on, or I'll be taking you to Birdsnow and recommending harsher punishment. No further arguments."

A frown crossed Snakechill's face. "Arguing? No, not arguing. Talking, asking questions. But you seem to be against even the most unintelligent, harmless discussion, so yet again, alas."
His gaze slid toward the leader's den, and he let out another hum. "You mock me. Let's go have a conversation with Birdsnow, then. I've yet to actually speak with our new leader one on one."

These patrols are due on March 23, 2024 at 11:59 PM Eastern! If your cat fails to complete this patrol, they will be punished accordingly. Fadingsun has permission to do these patrols. I will do my best to send out reminders in advance of the due date, but remember that it is your responsibility to keep track of patrols you've been assigned!
Patrol leaders should be the first ones posting in the assigned area. Please refrain from taking control of a patrol, IC or OOC, unless it has been more than 72 hours since the patrol leader posted and at least 24 hours since they were bumped. Cats who take over a patrol without adhering to these rules will be punished. It should be the patrol leader who reports the patrol; please only report the patrol as a patrol member if it's the due date and it hasn't been reported.
Posting orders are strongly encouraged. If someone breaks posting order, please report the post so staff can handle it. Please give someone 72 hours before skipping them, and make sure to bump them at least once. Give 24 hours after the bump before skipping them.
If you wish to be excused, please let me know no later than March 11 at 11:59 PM Eastern! Any questions or concerns may be directed my way via VM.
It was time for patrols again. Fadingsun had gotten used to doing patrols; he'd actually miss it once the deputy was eventually chosen.
Stepping up onto a small stone so he could more easily be seen, he called, "Time for patrols! Just a reminder that everyone is expected to complete their assigned patrol. Anyone slacking will be punished accordingly, so keep that in mind before you decide to be lazy.
"Sloerush ( @Starphobia ), please take Blueriver ( @Merp Machine ) and Cormorantpaw ( @vei ) to the ShadowClan border."
Optional prompt: While marking the border, your patrol comes across a two-headed frog. This is certainly an interesting find!
"Hawksun ( @SeonghwasBunnyEars ), take Applebees ( @Eden ) and Stagheart ( @SentimentalSquid ) to the ThunderClan border. Applebees, I was told that you slacked off on a patrol around the time Birdsnow became leader; you got a pass then because of everything going on, but this time you won't."
Optional prompt: Someone spooks a skunk while patrolling and gets sprayed!

Optional prompt: After spotting a young fawn, someone on the patrol can't help themselves and decides to approach it. Out of nowhere, the mother appears and delivers a swift kick!

He figured his sister would prefer going to the border (particularly ThunderClan's), but she wasn't fully healed yet and he didn't want her in any further danger. Call him overprotective, he didn't care.
Optional prompt: Out of nowhere, someone is grabbed by a teenage Twoleg. What will the patrol do to free them?
"Owltalon ( @Marigoldwhisper ), you'll be leading Firetail ( @SpiritWolf_yt ) and Eaglecall ( @Cubeisdagoat ) to hunt at Lionsbeach. See if you can bring a seagull back, if you feel up to it."
Optional prompt: After quickly finding enough prey to bring back, the patrol decides to take a few moments to have a swimming race in the ocean.

Optional prompt: Out of seemingly nowhere, a large branch crashes to the ground and comes within a hair of hitting someone. Is this a coincidence, or a threat from someone beyond the grave?
"Finally, I want to be sure the outskirts border is checked. We don't need problems with outsiders right now. Any outsiders should be treated with hostility, per Birdsnow's orders. Fallenwish ( @shoomy! ), please take Strawberrypaw ( @pink.ghostface ) and Blackwater ( @izz ) to do that."

Optional prompt: While checking the outskirts border, someone stumbles across some clear-stone (glass). Upon inspecting it, they cut their front paws badly.
