Echokit pads slowly into the nursery and sits down on his rough den. He tries to fall asleep but ends up lying awake, daydreaming of epic battles.

"Sorry! Did I hurt you- ugh!" The tom barreled over as paws quickly winded him, rolling over onto his back. He squealed in surprise and excitement, limbs sprawled out as he tried to roll himself back onto his haunches, much like a hobby beetle who'd fallen on its side.

From his position sprawled out on his side, Starlingkit idly pawed at the moss lining of the nest he was laying in. The material was a bit dry from the cold air that regularly blew in through the wide nursery entrance. Not enough to cause discomfort to the young black and white cat, but visible enough to notice.

"Not super important ..." he mutters as he puts his claws out to try to untangle to dried part from the soft part. A few moments later the kitten lets out a happy trill as he dislodges the bad clump.

With that done, Starlingkit looks around around for some cat to go bother. While he could go look for his mother, she said she would be talking to one of her friends. He had listened in to the grown-up's conversations before and it was super boring! Thankfully, his yellow eyes are drawn to the form of a still-awake older kit.

"Hiya, I'm Starlingkit! ... What's your name?"

Echokit turned to face the younger kit, clearly annoyed. "What do you wan?" he mutters. He then realized the kit waws just trying to be friendly.

Friendly? he ponders the word. Friendly. He tries to give something new a try.

"oh um.. sorry. My name is Echokit. its..." Cool? Nice? nice. "Nice to meet you."

Ravenkit was curled up in his own nest. His eyes, wide and curious, looked around the nursery. They looked at each kit, trying to remember their fur and their name but it was hard for him to even remember his own name. Ravenkit..was that correct? He looked over at the queens then back at the kits. Which ones belong to which queen? He didn't dare make a noise, but stood up and stumbled over to the entrance of the nursery, looking outside.

Splashkit giggled, a sloppy grin on her face. ''Nope! No hurties from you!'' the black-and-white she-kit squealed, aiming a blow at his face with a paw, her claws sheathed, of course, so she wouldn't do any harm.

Stumblekit laughed in response, eager to have a playmate who didn't mind a tussle. "Stumblekit!" A holler made the tom kit almost jump out of his smooth pelt and his aunt Chickadeeswirl march over, a serious look on her face. "I told you no rough-housing!" She exclaimed. "You're half the size of these younger kits!"

'Ah! This was a bad idea...' the young tom-cat thinks to himself, the annoyance in the other kit's response making him flinch. Trying to think back to anything he might have done to make the brown-white cat mad proves unsuccessful. As far as Starlingkit can remember, this is the first time he's interacted with the older kit!

Suddenly, an idea wedges it's way into his head-- 'Maybe he's just tired from playing all day?' Starlingkit had seen his fellow kits get scolded for skipping their naps to play, with the queens always telling them how important it was to take breaks. Apparently, too much fun could make you really tired! So that was probably what happened with the cat he was trying to befriend!

But just as he was about to flee back to his nest to let the older kit sleep, the cat spoke up again! Yellow eyes widened as the other kit apologized and introduced himself. "Nice to meet you Echokit! My name is Starlingkit," he reveals with a smile. "Do you like rocks? I've started taking all the cool rocks I find when I go outside, do you wanna see my pile?"

Chickadeeswivel gave a stressed and annoyed mew, ushering Stumbelkit away. "You could hurt yourself or somebody else!" She scolded the tom kit before turning back to Splashkit. "I'm sorry for interrupting play time, but wouldn't you rather play with someone your age?" And someone who can walk properly and wont accidentally tumble over and crush somebody. Her mind added, making her wince. She really shouldn't fault Stumblekit for things he can't change, but she still wanted to be cautious. The little trouble maker had already crossed some major lines in the past, and now he was trying to play fight other kits. She wished Clam, her loner brother, was here parenting his son instead.
