Rainglow shrugged. "If it was, what would it mean?" The grey tom took a few moments to think before replying to himself, "I don't know, but maybe you would?"

Slatestripe shrugged. “The kit found it in the center of a pile of stones. The stones all looked different. It was almost like… a Clan. In the way that the cats of a Clan look different in their own ways.”

Rainglow thought some more. "I... still don't know what that would mean..." The tom did have one idea, but it was quite outrageous and he didn't know if he had the bravery to share it.

Slatestripe looked away from his brother and gazed up at the cloudy sky. “I did have one thought,” he murmured. “But I’m afraid it may make me sound a tad bit arrogant. Perhaps it’s a sign that I’m destined to become leader?”

Slatestripe’s pelt tingled with excitement at his brother’s words. Thank StarClan another cat saw what he saw! He wasn’t crazy, then. “I’ve always been deeply loyal to my Clan. Perhaps StarClan sees that, and wishes to set my paws on a different path than I’d previously thought for myself.”

Rainglow shook his pelt again. "I don't... i... yes you have been quite loyal all your life... I would know..." The tom trailed off, lost in thought. This was an interesting conversation. The one time rocks steered him wrong...

Slatestripe looked back at his brother, tipping his head in curiosity. “What are you thinking about?” he asked. He valued his brother’s opinion and insight over a lot of other cats in RiverClan. After all, they’d known one another all their lives.
