Re: ShadowClan Apprentices' Den
-- @ bmkmb --
The tabby slept well... Well as well as you could when you were in a new nest, with twigs that kept poking your sides and your ears. It was the poking at her ears she disliked the most. Unlike other cats whose tails were often their weak spot, or their belly that was the most sensitive, due to her need to see with her ears, it was there she often felt the weakest... and the strongest. So ears flicking irritably as she dreamed... as she dreamed of the frozen wastes she'd had to live through after Sagefeather and Deerstride's death... The cold that forced itself into her fur, the freezing snow she'd had to lap up to stay alive... Her time away from Thunderclan, time lost and confused had strengthened her but it was a time she preferred not to talk about. So when she was forced to relive it... she just tried to breathe out steady, but soon something creaking and cracking reached her ears and they flicked in mild irritation. Doepaw was never the nicest cat when she just woke up, her ears typically hurt and she could not see very well at all, with her senses having been dulled over the time she was asleep. There were some strange memories of running into things after just having woken up simply because... she didn't know where anything was located. So slowly rising in her nest she knew she had to rely on her touch and feeling sense until her ears and nose began waking up. Which was far harder than you could imagine. Feeling around with her paws, the molly fell back in her nest as she lost the little balance she had, having accidentally placed a front paw too close to her chest. Giving a frustrated snort, she corrected her position, ears lying down her neck by now, the main appearance of her extreme frustration and annoyance with her lack of senses. Feeling around with her paws for where her nest ended Doepaw gave another frustrated sigh, she was not getting very far was she? It was then that as she once again she misplaced a paw and this time hit a soft and warm body... Frostpaw. Or well, it wasn't like she could know it surely, with her nose yet to function. "I'm... sorry," she stuttered hastily and and withdrew her paw with haste. She didn't want to embarrass herself further than she'd already done... This was worse than the awkward embrace last night... And it was probably going to be getting worse until her ears felt somewhat awake and ready to help her out. They were still pressed tightly against her neck and despite that she was still able to hear small things but... they weren't awake and would therefore just cause the apprentice pain where she to not hamper her own hearing. "I'm so sorry," she mumbled again, her paws still trying to find the end to her nest with only the sense of touch. She didn't want to destroy the only friendship she'd built by being an uncoordinated blind mess in the morning but... it seemed luck did not favour her.

Re: ShadowClan Apprentices' Den
When Frostpaw turned to Doepaw's nest, the other apprentice was just beginning to wake. He watched her slowly rise to four paws and watched silently as she felt around. It was interesting to see how she would cope with being in an unfamiliar area. Frostpaw's eyesight could catch miniscule changes, already sharp, even upon waking. They had improved from necessity, along with his reaction time. Sparring right after waking did miracles to your training, especially when your mentor always forgot to sheathe their claws before attacking. Either dodge or get used to the casual trickle of blood that would slowly paint your fur red. So Frostpaw had to admit, he relied on his eyesight drastically. Perhaps a bit too much, but he was also thankful for it. It was a skill that he wouldn't take for granted.
Doepaw fell back into her nest and Frostpaw was slightly ashamed for having to wonder what the issue was. Obviously, there was something off with another one of Doepaw's senses because the white apprentice was fairly sure that lack of eyesight didn't disturb balance. That was... hearing, was it not? He knew from swimming that having water in your ears made it harder to concentrate, but in this case, it wasn't water. It was merely the dullness of sounds from just waking up.
In the epitome of frustration, Doepaw's ears were pulled back. Frostpaw contemplated attempting to assist the she-cat, but he didn't know how, nor did he know if the help would be well received. He didn't want to accidentally insult the grey-brown apprentice and possibly risk their friendship. The next time a paw swung around, rather than hitting the floor of the den, it effectively collapsed into Frostpaw's chest. Why he hadn't dodged, the apprentice didn't know. Perhaps he hadn't been expecting to be attacked in the shadow's apprentices' den out of all places. That being said, the push hadn't hurt, despite also being surprisingly forceful. Doepaw began hastily apologizing and Frostpaw tilted his head in acknowledgement, although the other cat wouldn't know. Eventually he meowed, "It's fine." Odd, but fine, as many things had been in recently. It wasn't Doepaw's fault if her other senses were being a nuisance to her.
All of it reminded him of his first night as a loner and how awkward it had been. Of course, Lionpaw had been there to guide him through it, but his pride hadn't accepted the change easily. He was older; he was supposed to be the one teaching Lionpaw, not the other way around. And Lionpaw was too bouncy and bizarre to be a decent guide. Few of his explanations had made sense, and it was only his experience dealing with the golden tom that helped him to decipher them. Regardless, their roles had been switched. The next two fortmoons had been trying for both of them.
But putting those thoughts aside, Frostpaw focused once again on Doepaw. He stood up and asked, "How long does it take for your senses to wake?" The white apprentice wouldn't know; his usually cleared up within a minute of consciousness. Perhaps that was not the norm, but Lionpaw was the same. It would be hard for a loner to live if they weren't able to fight at any moment in the day. Rogues loved to ambush sleeping cats. And from there, his thoughts shifted back to possible ways to help Doepaw. Perhaps he could help position her paws? Or not. Perhaps it would just be better for them to wait it out.

Re: ShadowClan Apprentices' Den
-- @ bmkmb --
Doepaw's ears were still flattened against her neck. She hated the damn things in the morning... too sensitive, too able to absorb any sharp sounds. She'd attempted one day to try to force them to just adapt to being open and aware constantly but it had only resulted in bleeding from the veins in them. And so it was that the blind apprentice struggled to regain her position. Finally finding the edge of the nest, she pushed her paw out over it until she could feel the steady ground, and then put the paw back on the edge of the nest. Now she had something to base off, and before she answered Frostpaw's question - who to her surprise was awake... and seemingly more awake than her - she wanted to get to at least a somewhat stable position. Placing both her paws on the edge she dragged herself up into a sitting position finally, her paws somewhat balancing, despite her droopy head. Now... she at least had a chance to wake up. "How... long it takes?" She questioned back. She didn't know actually... her nose usually woke up before her ears which some might deem ridiculous, but it was because she was so dependent on her ears they usually took quite the longer to wake up. "I can always... feel where I am.... when I wake up... my nose takes... a bit longer. I don't know.. how long." And then tapping her ears gently, ears that was still pinned against her neck to muffle any sounds she was to receive she continued, "Ears.. takes the... longest. Sometimes bleed, if... I'm not too careful with... them. Happened a few times... back in Thunderclan." And having blood drizzle down your face just because you had sensitive ears was not exactly Doepaw's cup of tea. The scent of blood also had the horrible ability to dim her other senses, the smell taking over as well as the taste and the constant feel of it flowing down your face. Nope.. Not something Doepaw particularly liked. And so, sitting up a bit more, feeling finally regaining in her tail she tapped it around, once again trying to locate Frostpaw. Without having her ears opened she wouldn't be able to detect the fine echos that bounced off walls and structures and other cats, so it was touch she was relying on for now. "My ears... hear echoes. The echos.. bounce off walls and I can... hear them. Usually.. I need my ears... to function.. to be awake..They need to be open... to hear... the echos. So... I cannot... 'see'... in the mornings." That was the basics of it anyway as she continued to tap her front paws on the floor, trying her best to get an idea of what was ahead of her ever so slowly. "Don't know... how sighties' eyes... function though... Sun is not bright enough... for me to... sense it yet." She was sometimes able to see some light but it depended on how strong the sun was... sometims in the high of greenleaf she would be able to but it always depended... and it wasn't like she was actively looking for it. She rather preferred if it left her alone. "Again... I'm sorry... for hitting you."

The warrior crossed the clearing and stooped in to examine his options over the fresh kill pile.
Settling on a shrike the tom returned to the warriors den. He hadn’t seen Pineclaw on his way out so hopefully he was still asleep or just waking up. Poking his head in the tom glanced up and down the rows of sleeping bodies. “Pineclaw-“ his voice was sheepish and timid while other warriors stifled grunts and grumbles of detest. “Pineclaw are you in here?” He felt bad about calling out for him, but it was better than climbing back in there.

Ears twitching at a soft voice, Pineclaw blinked the sleep from his green eyes. Was someone calling his name? When the voice spoke again, he let out a soft grumble. Acornfall.
The brown tabby exited the warriors' den cautiously before being met by the early sun and the face of Acornfall. He gave his body a stretch and shook his fur clear of small moss pieces and feathers from his nest. "What do you want, Acornfall?" he asked through a yawn.

Acornfall couldn’t stop himself from mustering a happy go lucky smile as Pineclaw emerged from the warriors den. Though he was accustomed to his moods he couldn’t help but feel slightly set back by his un amused tone. “I just thought we could eat... and maybe go hunting today” It felt wrong to suggest it but nonetheless he was hopeful.
He turned to step out of the way of the entrance to the den and set the shrike down curling his tail over his back and giving his chest fur a few licks to pass the awkward silence.

Re: ShadowClan Clearing
Frecklepaw lay at the base of Blackpaw’s rock with Blackpaw Laying on the top. They were half brothers but didn’t like to talk about it or let anybody know (I just decided this now so I guess it’s a thing). He gazed boredly around the clearing, wondering what there was to do.
(Open someone please come stir up trouble with Frecklepaw.)
Blackpaw lay on top of his rock and he silently wondered where all of his friends were. He knew Frecklepaw was below him but they didn’t speak, them know they were brothers was enough, no one else really needed to know.

Re: ShadowClan Clearing
Redspot dipped his head, padding away to the entrance of camp. And I've done it again. I didn't make a cat that happy. All he wanted to do was make a cat from his clan very happy. He didn't, though. She didn't seem to like what she got... eh. She must be grumpy.
