Luke noticed her silence, "Uhh, so, what do you like to do?" He felt awkward. But he would cut through the awkwardness to talk to this girl. He wanted to.. make friends. Real ones. This girl, she would be the first.

Luke looked over at Amelia, "I like to read too! What are your favorite books?" She seemed uneasy. Maybe it was him. Or, the height? Well, maybe they could get off the tree, "Oh, let's get off this tree. Kind of uncomfortable." He chuckled as he slid off the tree onto the ground.

Amelia looked down and shut her eyes tightly. "Luke...I can't..I'm too scared to get down.." she mumbled, clinging onto the tree, feeling a bit woozy from the height.

Luke looked up at Amelia, "Oh. Umh, I'll help you!" He climbed back up the tree and took her hand. "Okay, now, close your eyes. And count to 5, out loud. When you get to five, we'll slide down the tree. Okay?" He didn't seem to notice anything wrong with holding Amelia's hand. He just saw it as an attempt to help her.

Luke went down with her, when they got the ground he laughed. "You did it! We're on the ground." He looked at Amelia with a smile on his face. So, she was afraid of heights, huh? Well, looks like no more climbing trees.

Amelia looked around then at the sky. "I should get back to the orphanage.." she looked down and noticed her hand was still in Luke's. "Uhm..." she mumbled.

Luke looked down as well and noticed he was holding her hand. He quickly let go of her hand. His face turned slightly red. "Oh! Sorry.. Also, uhm, you live in the orphanage?" He was quickly changing the subject. He'd completely forgotten he had been holding her hand.

"Yeah..." she nodded. "My parents...were murdered..I wasn't there but by the time the cops found and told me..I already knew by the news..I live in the orphanage pretty much..I feel like a outcast a lot.." she added the last bit to herself, hoping Luke didn't hear.

Luke, of course, ended up hearing her entire sentence. Outcast? But she was so nice, how? "I see.. I'm very sorry that's happened to you.." He gave her a sad smile. He could.. kind of feel for her. Considering, he didn't have parents worth even a single parent. Both of his parents were abusive alcoholics and hit each other fairly often, sometimes, they even hit him. But, he didn't have to worry about that. He always fought back. He would be fine.
