there is something about two strongly moral individuals with completely different definitions of ‘right’ and ‘wrong’ that causes a divide between them like a hot knife through butter. rushwater’s opinions of right and wrong have been firmly set in his mind, not of following the rules but of doing what is just. rules are mere guidelines to base his perception of off, but the real morality comes from the pain and tragedy faced through every step of his life. rules are not laws. they can— sometimes must —be broken for the greater good of all. rules and authority do not sit fully with rushwater, and though he values the word of his “superiors” he will not hesitate to defect if it crosses his own opinions. passionately individual and assured, rushwater is owned by no one. controlled by no one.

it’s masterful contrast, nearly a thematic antithesis, when snarlingwolf and rushwater meet. one, grounded in rules and finding meaning in obedience, the other fiercely independent and uncontrolled. an unstoppable force meets an immovable object, as they say, and the similar level-headed rationale between the two only serves to further divide them.

perhaps it’s because, if they look hard enough, they see parts of themself or what could have been in the other. to see someone so like yourself yet so painfully different- with views opposed directly opposite your own and ideals that you’d fight against with tooth and claw is a jarring, and a formula for distaste.

if there’s one kind of person rushwater can’t stand, it’s those who don’t speak their mind to authority— who revel at the feet of leaders in thoughtless obedience (or so it appears). especially not when the potential for a real use, real change and ambition is clear.

they’re similar, in a way, but also so starkly different.

literally begging for a rush and snarling interaction where they’re getting along pretty well then code/authority somehow gets mentioned and BOOM. the thematic parallels are too tempting- I just think it’d be interesting to show the contrast between the two’s views of authority and the world in general. snarlingwolf seems like such a cool character and i can’t wait to see howl around o:

meet…shrewkit! A rambunctious yet unyielding soul with a few mental issues. Growing up in a family who constantly abused and neglected him shrew had grown accustomed to being sneered at. And with his schizophrenia getting worse I fret he’d soon fall into insanity. Perhaps a snarling beast would help him gain control of his mental state once more and spare him from a fate worse than death? That is if the snarling beast is willing to take him-

( he’s like 6 moons and in need of a mentor / father figure

rahhhh take some of this info here about soot’song

Now for plot ideas…I could see soot playfully going out of his own comfort zone to tease and play pranks on snarling. Of course snarl boy would find it annoying I could probably see him eventually tolerating it. Soot is a very clan active cat whom would absolutely adore snarl and his every aspect. I could see soot bringing snarl small gifts every now and then and taking him out for walks or to hunt together.

For their first interaction….STARGAZING!!
Soot could be caught red pawed at firefly cove stargazing and perhaps snarl would care to join him??
