Bumblestep trotted into the clearing, his patrolmates behind him. "Kestrelwing." The tom called, nodding to the two other cats before splitting off. "We've returned from the Shadowclan border. Their scent markers have been renewed, other than that there was no sighting of them. Hopefully it will stay that way." He sighed. "The rest of the patrol was quiet, but we did find some stale fox scent." He meowed this part quieter, not wanting any listening kits to hear about the foxes. They most likely haven't mentally recovered from the coyote attack...

At the news of the ShadowClan patrol coming back, Kestrelwing met Bumblestep halfway, ears already intent to hear what the patrol leader had to say. He nodded quietly, tucking away that ShadowClan had indeed renewed their borders. WindClan must be doing better if ShadowClan had taken their sights off them. No sighting of them put him a bit at ease - but not completely. "Foxes? Oh, joy. You just love to torment, huh?" His voice was directed at the sky above them, a shot to the star cats above him.

Shaking his head and returning his gaze to Bumblestep, he gave a curt nod. "Go ahead and grab something off the fresh kill pile," he added, a momentary flash of respect shooting across his expression as he dismissed the older warrior. This now just left one last patrol; the WindClan border. Expectantly, Kestrelwing turned his gaze to the entrance, watching for the off white and tan pelt of Petuniaflame.

Good for nothing, that’s what he was, a good for nothing screw up. Lemondrop was stomping into camp feathers plastered to her face with one gangly crow, a tiny shrike and a chubby little water vole. It was impressive for her to do in such a short time. Three pieces of prey, all alone, without any patrol partner.

Once she’d reached camp she hobbled to the fresh kill pile and dumped the three catches onto the growing pit. It was getting filled up.. good job Kestrel. She gave herself a shake letting the feathers fall loose from her face before turning to find the tom. ”kestrel-“ she paused a moment sitting on his name for a moment. It was flame wasn’t it? No. It was something else.

”kestrelwing.” there we go. “Kestrelwing! I got something but it wasn’t quite enough.. blizzardbutt was a no show. Had to hunt by myself.”

Blizzardsky just headed in and shot daggers back at Lemondrop, implying he just skipped on the patrol when she shot off before he could catch her to hunt so he dropped off his squirrel and three fish,” Lemondrop just ran off ahead of me unsure why, so I just hunted on my own.” he meowed

Kestrelwing couldn't hide the amusement that flickered in his yellow gaze as he looked between Lemondrop and Blizzardsky. It seemed they had both gone hunting just... not together. It didn't really bother him too much, seeing as both had brought back sizable contributions to the pile.

"Well regardless of how you both got there, you all came back with more than I had originally expected. Glad there weren't any other detours." There was a snort at the end of his sentence before the gray tabby dismissed both warriors with a flick of his tail. Slowly but surely RiverClan was rising again. Border patrols were being sent out, the prey pile was being restocked, and in the middle of it all Kestrelwing found himself grinning. His home was starting to thrive once more.

Thing had been tense since the last Gathering, and Kestrelwing felt the tension like zaps of electricity racing through his paws. WindClan was only just now recovering, and the warrior was glad that at least they were on neutral terms with one Clan in the forest. So much already was happening and changing so fast, but the one thing that did not slip the gray tabby's mind was patrols.

"Listen up RiverClan! Since the Gathering, tensions are a bit high. I want our borders constantly marked and the prey pile stocked. With that being said, gather around for patrol assignments. And just like last time, I will not tolerate any slacking off."

"Berryscorch [ @Puddle~ ], you'll be taking Heronflight [ @Angelique ] and Snowfur [ @Starry Nightmare ] to Smallpines. The last patrol reported the scent of coyotes still growing stale; please make sure that is still the case." A small, unnoticeable shiver passed down his spine as he remembered the predator patrol. How close to death he'd been. Now wasn't the time to reminisce about such troubling times. Kestrelwing had to focus on the positive: the fact that the coyotes might've been gone for good.

"Rumblingstorm [ @Peril ], remark the border with ShadowClan with Goosefury [ @Slushie ] and Barkfuzz [ @Aquilex ]." Kestrelwing was a bit hesitant with the last one, judging by the reactions from Snakeheart and Lionstorm to Barkbuzz's lack of listening, but the gray tabby brushed it aside.

With border patrols squared away, it was time to move onto hunting patrols. Newleaf had been plentiful so far, and the last round Kestrelwing had sent out had returned with quite the catches. But that didn't mean they couldn't continue to build their pile. RiverClan would need all the strength they could get. He didn't have an inkling as to what Lionstorm was planning - the golden tabby had been quite reclusive since Firehawk's death - but it didn't hurt to have a well fed Clan.

"Junipersong [ @Dizerel ], I know you've stated multiple times that you can't hunt, but too bad. RiverClan requires more than just chewing on reeds. You and Falconpaw [ @Cherry_Jay ] will be hunting at Lionsbeach. Keep in mind, though, that Lionstorm's turtles are off limits." The last part felt so weird to say, but he figured that the golden boy had enough trauma to deal with - the least Kestrelwing could do is save his turtles.

Good. That should be enough cats out on patrols. Now onto the next part of this, and the part that Kestrelwing was especially looking forward to. After talking with Snakeheart, it had become apparent that his apprentice, along with Junipersong's, had failed to complete his herb patrol and provided the medicine cat with attitude. That didn't sit well with the gray tabby, and his yellow eyes surveyed the clearing for the two he was looking for.

"Nightpaw [ @Kunaiskrill ] and Fiercepaw [ @~Fierceclaw~ ]! Get your tails over here."

Fiercepaw padded out of the apprentices den and towards Kestrelwing. What did this fish-brain want? "What is it?" She meowed to Kestrelwing, annoyance in her voice.

Perking her ears up as her name was called for the very last patrol, worried that she was going to be left out from helping the clan. Hunting, oh boy. Why the hell would Kes put her on hunting? Such a mouse-brained idea, anyone could see that she was better for border patrols, as her intimidating presence would scare away any who dare disrespect borders! No, no. Kestrelwing was probably right here. She trusted his judgement. Maybe he thought she was a better hunter than she realized? She wasnt about to argue with him anyways, the simple idea of doing so put butterflies in her stomach.

She also heard her apprentice get called. Oh, was someone in trouble? "I hope that my apprentice hasnt caused you too much grievance, Kes, else I may have to improve at training her" Junipersong joked, nudging Fiercepaw from behind to get a move on.

Turning to find the apprentice she would be hunting with. "Falconpaw! You ready to feed the clan like a proud warrior?" She asked, puffing out her chest and striking a valiant pose, wanting to hype up the apprentice.
