Zed activated his court armor and drew his disc. He fought with his head, not his hands-- and that certainly didn't help in the arena. He waited for Vernal's first move; he'd use a defensive tactic, not one of offense.

The program dodged to the left but it caught her shoulder causing her to wince. Not counting on the disc coming back, it hit her back causing to fall only to get back up again.Grunting she gave the throw all her strength in a fancy air spin.

The court disc would have hit him straight in the chest if it wasn't for his own being in the way. A stroke of luck-- thank the users! He readied himself just in case Vernal was going to follow up with another attack.

Catching her own disc , the program waited for zeds move. After all it wouldn't be fair if she kept hitting blow after blow now would it? Then again I imagine other programs do that in the games- but I can't do that to him...

"Uh..." He glanced down at his disc, which he was clutching with both hands. He took a deep breath-- he felt confident enough to take a shot at an offensive move. He threw the projectile, although his aim wasn't great, and his arm wasn't very strong.

"Okay. Just calm down. Take deep breaths. Please." Chris had a few tears go down his face. He calmed himself down, and held Skye steady. "J-just breath. We need to lower her heartrate, do you have anything to help with that?" Chris asked Mara and Zed. He kept Skye steady, and looked at the mechanics worrying.

Getting hit by the wobbly disc, Vernals competitive side came through. Dodging the disc as it came back, she clutched her own and threw it hard.

"She has to reset it herself, we can't do anything but hope it calms back down," Mara said soberly, kneeling by the shaking program on the floor.
Skye held tightly to Chris' hand, heartbeat getting louder and less frequent. She was regaining her strength-- albeit slowly.
"What happened?" Zed asked, finally gaining the courage to speak.
"Skye was actually in the elevator when it fell, Zed," Mara told him, using it as a way to cover up the other issue at hand. "She panicked when she came back inside it."
"No wonder." He shook his head. "That's awful. That would shake any program up."

And just like that, Zed was out of the game. The disc hit him on the chin, knocking him to the floor.
Combatant Two: Eliminated. Combatant One wins. Would you like to play again? Came the ever-present voice of the Grid itself, out of the arena loudspeakers. Zed glanced up at Vernal expectantly.
"Well that hurt. I won't lie to you, though... I was waiting for it to happen."
