It seemed quite a few of the kits were interested in participating, which pleased him. He chose to ignore Firekit's exclamation, shaking his head silently and turning to Gingerfrost as the tom approached. Ah, good, he wouldn't need to be chewed out later. Good for him.

Once enough of the kits had gathered, Ferretsnap cleared his throat and began to speak once again.

"In this task, you will all be given 'patrols' to complete, just like apprentices and warriors. This will prepare you for the duties you will be given once you are apprentices, and show you what patrols will be like," he explained, "It is easy- each patrol team will be given a specific task to do, and once they are finished they will report back to me or Gingerfrost. This is to be complete inside of the camp only. Do not use this to try to sneak out of camp, or you will be punished. Understood?" Amber eyes passed over the gathered group of kits, a serious expression in his gaze.

After waiting for a response, he began to list off the different groups.

"Duckkit [ @*Galaxy_Cats* ], Moonkit [ @FruitBat ], Briarkit [ @jupiter ], and Juniperkit [ @Silvershadow13 ], you will all be cleaning the nests in the elder's den. While you're there, don't be afraid to ask if any of the elders need help with anything. I'm sure they would appreciate the company."
[ Optional Prompt: When you lift up one of the nests... ACHOO! Wahh, there's so much dust, you can't stop sneezing! ]

"Goosekit [ @Bezzle ], Ivykit [ @Octavia! ], Winterkit [ @dragonwind ], and Springkit [ @Leafie ], your task is to clean out the nests in the warrior's den."
[ Optional Prompt: When you look around all of the nests, you see something shiny hiding beneath the moss... oooh, what's this? ]

"Ravenkit [ @/Octavia! ], Sunsetkit [ @Pangoligon ], Kitekit [ @serendipity. ], and Puddlekit [ @Joeboe_Bean ], you will do the same as the others, but in the apprentice's den. Be sure to make the nests comfy, I'm sure a few will be sleeping in them soon."
[ Optional Prompt: Geez, it looks like the nests haven't been cleaned for moons in here! What's this weird thing growing out of one of the nests? ]

"Autumnkit [ @/Octavia! ], Elkkit [ @Estelle ], Firekit [ @littlelove ], and Webkit [ @~LeafRabbit~ ], please patrol the camp to be sure there are no spots that need patched in the walls. Remember not to exit the camp."
[ Optional Prompt: As you're patrolling the camp perimeter, you come across something small crawling along the ground... aha! A predator! It's time to protect the Clan! ]

There was one more group to be named. He turned to the remaining kits, nodding to them. It appeared two of Fawnlight and Cloudjumper's kits were there, though the third was nowhere to be found. Huh. Regardless, Ferretsnap was sure they'd enjoy being on a 'patrol' together.

"Stormkit [ @x ghostie ], Snowkit [ @/lio ], Spottedkit [ @~WallyDarling~ ], and Beekit [ @Cornbread1233 ], you will do a hunting patrol. There are many leaves, sticks, and shells scattered around the camp that you may hunt as 'prey.'. I want you all to bring back at least one piece of 'prey' to count your patrol as completed."
[ Optional Prompt: Oooh, so many pretty things to catch! I wonder who can catch the most!! ]

Now that all the kits were put into groups, Ferretsnap sat back and nodded to Gingerfrost. However, he realized that there was one more kit he hadn't addressed- though she appeared far too young to even understand him, much less complete a 'patrol'. Hm... The tom snatched up a piece of moss and rolled it into a ball before gently tossing it to Minkkit [ @Rose ].

"Here, watch over this for me, yeah? Keep it safe," he mumbled, voice softening as he spoke to the tiny kit. Once that was done, he looked back up and nodded to the groups.

"You may begin. Gingerfrost and I will be awaiting your reports."

[ Patrols will be due by June 1st, though you may ask for an extension if needed. If someone has not responded within 72 hours after bumping them, you are encouraged to skip them . All patrols must have at least two posts from each member before being reported to Ferretsnap or Gingerfrost ( @/Estelle ) in order to count towards Kit Curriculum requirements. ]

Stonepaw

Stumbling out of his den, Stonepaw wandered over to a group of kits surrounding Ferretsnap and Gingerfrost, sitting down next to the two as the kittens skittered off. He recognized a few from his classes and others from various trips to the nursery. His sister was there too, and while he still wasn't sure if she hated him or not, he flashed a smile. He didn't want her to be mad at him, he'd just been so mopey recently, and mopey Stonepaw wasn't a fun Stonepaw. "Would it be okay if I sat and watched? I can leave if you want, I just thought it might be fun to join."

The molly smiled up at the older cat, bouncing on her paws, flicking her tail excitedly, jumped now. "whewe awe you gwuys?" she squeeled, looking around, barely touching the ground as she bounced. "stowmkit?" she called, before looking for the kit. "snowkit?" she called, repeating what she did for stormkit. "beekit????" she called, anxious about the favt that she was stryggling to see them. "come on you gwuys! We have to go hunt!" she squeeled, finding them.

As mister Ferretsnap began to list out names and what they would be doing, Snowkit listened intently. Oh, the other patrols would be cleaning! She was glad she wasn't put on a cleaning patrol. Then the big warrior got to her, and her eyes lit up with excitement. Stormkit would be with her!! Yay!! She turned to her sister with a grin, rising to her paws and bouncing.

As Spottedkit called out for them, she turned around and waved her tail to call her over. "Ooooover h-here!" she managed, quietly wishing she could stop tripping over her words. Snowkit began to make her way towards Spottedkit before a familiar grey pelt caught her eye, talking to mister Ferretsnap and Gingerfrost. Lips pulling into an even wider grin, Snowkit was practically vibrating on her paws as she waved wildly toward Stonepaw.

"H-Hellooooo Stoneypaws!! Snowkit am doing h-hunting patroool!" she called out, giggling before turning to her other patrol members once again to wait for them to begin.

The little tomkit toddled into the apprentices' den, ready to start cleaning nests. He hopped up to the first nest and sniffed it. It smelled musky. Puddlekit started tugging off bits of dry, scratchy moss. That definitely wouldn't be comfy to sleep in, he thought.

It was much harder to clean a nest than Puddlekit had thought. He pushed the little pile of debris out of the den and plopped down for a moment. Then Puddlekit bounced up to his little grey paws and back into the den.

A little bit later, the tom had managed to remove all the dry moss and unwanted thorns and such from the nest. He skipped out of the den, in search of moss — and maybe feathers — that he could use to build the nest back up.

[Slow'Snail]

Blinding'Hawk sat in the clearing grooming his fur. He had nothing better to do until he was assigned to a patrol. I can't believe I have nothing better to do. Just yesterday I was on 3 patrols! He let out a sigh, he might as well go hunting when he was done.

Aha!! She had been right!! Snowkit's lips pulled into a grin as Stonepaw comfirmed what she had said- wounds needed to be cleaned to be kept away from icky infections. Her little chest puffed out in pride. Mama would be proud of her for knowing things an herb cat knows, right? Ahh, if only Mama could see her taking this class now!!! She wanted to learn all the things Mama had known, so if Snowkit one day sees her Mama again, she'd be able to tell her all about them!

The other kits voicing their concerns made Snowkit's head tilt to the side. Yeah, it was a spider's home, but... oh, wait, she didn't know what a spider was. Huh. How did everyone else know? Had they seen a spider before? The name sounded icky, maybe she didn't wanna ever see one.

After a few moments, she opened her mouth to (attempt to) speak once more. Maybe someday she'd be able to speak without issue. Huh, she wondered if Stonepaw would know anything about how to fix her being unable to talk. She knew the words, but she couldn't make them come out sometimes. It was so weeeeeird.

"But, spidey f-find new homes, right? Infetuns reeeeeeal bad and icky, so am sure spideys are okaaay with it! Right, Stoneypaws? Spideys let her- heeeeeerb cats use cob- c- cobw...ebs and find new h-hooomes so no infetuns hhhappen! Spideys reeeeal nice!" She nodded to herself, her own logic making quite a bit of sense to her little brain.
