"Yeah," Cicadapaw mused to Beetlepaw. He couldn't wait to see everyone again!

The apprentice's ears perked as he listened closely to Burnedbark’s instructions. He wanted to get it right. Mimicking the older warrior’s stance, Cicadapaw carefully tucked his front paws beneath him, lowering his body close to the ground. His tail hovered just above the ground, trembling slightly with the effort to keep it steady. "Like this?" he asked, eyes narrowed in concentration. It was humbling how hard it was to hold that position; his legs ached almost immediately, and his balance felt off, but he refused to give up.

Cicadapaw crept forward as instructed. One step, two, but on the third - his paw caught on something, maybe a root, maybe nothing at all - and he toppled forward. With nothing to break his fall, he fell face forward into the dirt with a small oof. Man, did he have a long way to go.

(We prob need to ask for an extension, especially since I'm going to be gone this weekend)

Burnedbark nodded at Cicadapaw's attempt. "Close." He mewed, his tone even though he was trying to encourage the young cat. He briefly rested his tail-tip on Cicadapaw's shoulder. "Try not to be so tense. Breath into the stance." He instructed, smoothly moving into his hunting stance and stepping forward, parting his jaws to taste the air for prey.

As was expected of the cove, he quickly caught the scent of a mouse in the fields. Now that the flowers were in bloom, it was a little trickier to pick up the trail, but not impossible. The reddish-brown tom moved towards the target, pausing a moment as he neared to wait for the right moment.

The kill was swift and clean. As Burnedbark stood, carrying his mouse, he returned to the apprentices. As this was a patrol, the lesson wasn't quite as in-depth as he'd normally like. But this would have to do, they'd get practice through practical application for the purposes of this patrol. "You two, try." He meowed with a nod, turning to Alpinemoon. "We should hunt as well." He didn't want to potentially lose out on prey due to the lesson. They could keep an eye on the paws while they hunted. "Stay on Beetlepaw." He mewed softly to his fellow warrior. The tom planned on keeping an eye on both of them, but if they split up that would be difficult. So this way, they'd have eyes on at least one of them at all times. He gave a nod to his patrol, flicking his tail. "Let's go. You two, stay close." He added that final point for the -paws mostly, looking at them intentionally as he said it.

With that done, Burnedbark buried his mouse to retrieve it later, hoping that the apprentices would watch him do so and copy it with their catches, before moving on. Keeping Cicadapaw and Beetlepaw in his senses as he continued his hunt.

There. This time, as Burnedbark sank into his hunting stance, he had his eyes on two squirrels. They likely came to these fields in search for seeds to eat after their stores from leaf-bare have depilated. He'd have to time this perfectly. Burnedbark moved forward carefully, positioning himself to catch both squirrels if possible...and pounced. His teeth closed around the neck of one squirrel, ending its life quickly. His claw landed on the other, and he moved swiftly to drop the one in his mouth and end the life of the other. Good, that made three. He promptly buried the squirrels and lifted his head to check on the positions of his patrolmates.

Having grabbed celandine before, Raggedear knew what the look for. After some searching, he managed to pick three from a small patch before returning to Hollowpaw.

Dandelionmane ♥ They / Them ♥ Thunderclan warrior

With a nod Dandelionmane separated from the group to search for the herbs. The pure white warrior hummed as they padded along. They managed to find 2 bunches of blessed thistle, now to look for celandine.

Wow that went... surprisingly well. They managed to find three bunches of celandine, not really expecting to return with their paws full, but happy about it regardless. Dandelionmane returned to the group with their bunches of the herbs, bowing their head in greeting to their patrolmates.

Hmmm perhaps the -paws needed more…personalized instruction. He had hoped to have been able to teach them something, but for the sake of the patrol, they needed to return. Now. “Come, we must go back.” He mewed coolly, retrieving his prey and waving his tail to gather the patrol together. “If either of you would like further instruction, seek me out.” He’d trained a couple of the Spiderling batch already after all, why not? The tom nodded to Alpinemoon before trotting back to camp.

We got an extension to the 9th! If y’all want to try and work on catching more prey, go ahead and respond as though Burnedbark didn’t already leave and I’ll delete that post and the report in to Risingstorm and we can try to get the training wrapped up and catch more prey. <3
