Blazingpaw moved away from the smaller elder to another elder. Then Ospreypaw blocked his path by greeting. Blazingpaw looked the other way, not in the mood to greet denmates who annoyed him. But the offering of help made it hard for the brown apprentice to keep his eyes away. His fur fluffed.
“Of course I don’t need help! I know what I am doing!” He pushed ahead, continuing his way to the other elder.
As the third elder gave him permission to help with their tick problem, Blazingpaw looked down at their fur coat. What was he supposed to do? As the elder ordered him to move along, the new apprentice swallowed and leaned his muzzle down and clamped down on a random area. The elder screeched, scaring Blazingpaw just enough that he accidentally pulled out hairs. He quickly spat it out and hissed, light brown fur raising. He took a step back, upset that this punishment is taking forever than it should’ve been.

Ospreypaw frowned lightly as Blazingpaw yelled at him, though just sighed lightly as Blazingpaw went on by himself. He just shook his head and went back to helping out another elder. Tail flicking back and forth as he was careful with getting the ticks out of fur.

Flameheart looked stunned as she heard her name among those of the new mentors for the lost apprentices, but Sootfur was not. "Confratulations!" he said cheerfully, eyeing her warmly before sinking his nose in her fur. She was so talented and skilled... it was abvious Sparrowstar thought she could already handle an apprentice.
"Now go and greet your new apprentice. You're a mentor now." He nudged her away and stared affectionatly at her as she greeted Foxpaw, her new apprentice. He had always admired Flameheart for her abilities, but now even more. He was sure she would manage to handle everything well, as it should be.

She was expecting to get a new mentor after the disappearance of Cardinalspice, and honestly, she was surprised it had taken her so long to call a meeting. But here she was, reassigning Rainpaw and Oriolepaw and Dawnpaw and Redpaw, and so many others. Who was she stuck with this time? Hopefully, they'd be fine. If they trained her, great, if they didn't she felt like she could reply on Flameheart to help. Wait... Her eyes widened as she registered Sparrowstar's words. She was Flamehearts apprentice. Maybe she would be a warrior by the end of the moon.
A few kits were getting their apprentice names. A twinge of panic hit her, her age rushing back to her before she quickly ignored it. It didn't matter about these kits. She was getting her training, and she would be getting it soon. This was the best possibility, stuck with someone who she was sort of a friend, someone she could trust to work with her. She couldn't emphasizze this enough, it was one of the best options that she had. Her head swung around, looked for the shape of the massive maine coon molly.
The russet patched molly stayed where she was as Flameheart paced over, deciding that it was better if only one of them interrupted the mess of cats. Flameheart was over with who Foxpaw thought was her mate, Sootfur. She'd have to ask about that later. Were they friends or something more? You know what, she didn't really care right now. Her tail was whipping back and forth across the ground with a mix between apprehension and excitement. She was excited, certainly, but there was something from the look on Sparrowstar's face that seemed like something else was coming. Something else she wouldn't be expecting.
"I'm exciting to be working with you too." A grin broke across her face as she reached up to touch noses with the younger molly. It was a true smile, not one of the fake ones from other times. "You want to know something, for once I'm not." She was feeling awfully confident, and that was something that hadn't happened in a while. "I'm your first official mentor, aren't I." She lifted her head as she trotted off behind her, following her back to Sootfur, who was shaping up more and more to being her mentors mate. That was a weird thought. She was older than Flameheart, yet the other molly already had a mate.
She was ready for this, ready to actually try to get this done, put in effort when interacting with her new mentor. Foxpaw sat down next to her, giving Flameheart and her mate a bit of room. Her eyes moved up, back to Sparrowstar and the Thunderwillow, but the smile still plastered on her face was yet to fall.
|
Walking back to Sootfur with Foxpaw behind her was more than enough to spread a smile across her face. Her pelt felt hot with embarrassment, but the sight of her mate was enough to keep her head high with pride and confidence as the mentor and apprentice weaved through the crowd of ThunderClanners.
"You are my first official apprentice, yes." Flameheart nodded in confirmation, a small smile of cheer spreading across her white-furred mouth. "I'm glad you aren't worried, you'll need this confidence in warriorhood." Confidence was something Foxpaw had desperately needed to work on, something told Flameheart the tree climbing they did was part of the reason her apprentice was so cheerful. She was getting the training she needed. And I will continue to work with her. Consider this a vow, StarClan: I will get Foxpaw to warriorhood.
"But let me tell you something, Foxpaw. The first thing you should know: confidence can easily lead to an ego. You'll think you're untouchable if you're too confident. And thinking that could lead to a disaster. Sometimes, these disasters are small. Most times, they're huge. The smallest disaster I've seen was an apprentice arguing with a Keeper. She didn't get a mentor like she was supposed to during that meeting. She learned that lesson the hard way."
Flameheart wouldn't tell Foxpaw that apprentice was actually her, it wasn't really important. But the young warrior had no intention of keeping that information from the older Clanmate if she was asked about it. She's already almost ready for her ceremony... I wonder what her name would be. But I can't worry about that now, I need to worry about getting her to her assessment. That'll be the real test.
"Sootfur, this is Foxpaw. Foxpaw, Sootfur," Flameheart whispered, introducing the two officially. "Foxpaw, you'll see Sootfur and me around the camp together, you probably already have. We're mates, but if you have a question to ask me, don't feel embarrassed or awkward asking it around both of us. Sootfur and I will help in anyway possible."
Noticing Foxpaw had not stopped smiling since they touched each other's noses, Flameheart softened her gaze and turned back to the Thunderwillow to hear whatever else Sparrowstar had to say. To her surprise, Beankit was becoming an apprentice. Beankit, her nephew, was becoming an apprentice of ThunderClan. The son of a murderer, her brother...
"You'll be a great asset to the Clan, Beankit," she whispered. Only Sootfur would really understand that Beankit was her kin. Well... Sootfur and Sparrowstar. I'm sure, despite your differences, your father would be proud you're moving up in life. I know I am.

Cinderpaw watched the younger apprentice with a raised eyebrow as she devolved into a mess of stuttering. She understood Frogpaw's point, but... she had to do this for them. None of the kids here needed to worry about their safety in their own camp like she had (and still did), and she was there to make sure of that. She doubted the younger apprentice would understand it - she had to have been young during Shadowclan's occupation, and wasn't anywhere near old to remember the beginning of their constant feud with Riverclan - but that was fine. She didn't need to get it.
Placing a massive but hopefully comforting paw on her back, Cinderpaw bent down to the apprentice's level. "Let m-me tell you a secr--et." She comforted, lowering her voice into a stage whisper. "Ev-ev-every one'a you kids have a fr-friend while I'm h-here."
Giving Frogpaw a few (probably entirely too strong) pats on the back, mischief and a hint of sadness glinted in her eyes as she smiled. She stood up and took the new high-quality nest in her teeth. "No-now let's get this thi-thing to the nur--sery! I bet I could b-b-beat you there ev--en carryin' this th-thing."

FrogPaw had finally uncovered her face and jumped up, “woah, you’re challenging me?” She gave a quick, energetic stretch. “Look, if you’re gonna keep guard by the nursery all the time, I’m gonna have to join you sometimes. It’s not that healthy to sit alone,” she began to lift the nest with a smile, “let’s move it together!”

Re: ThunderClan Joining and Rejoining
Roosterflame seemed to be a magnet for twoleg trouble. This time, not only had they captured and defiled him with yet another collar, but this time they’d taken him to a strange, sterile place, where other captives were taken for what they called “treatment”.
The first thing Roosterflame had been met with upon coming to after slipping from a branch and breaking his leg, had been the leering eyes of another cat, who introduced herself as Lily Anne, also called “Cuddly baby”, telling him that he was to be “treated” by the “vet”.
From what Roosterflame gathered in the “waiting room” (What he could gather at the time, that is. He was often distracted by the sharp, unrelenting pain in his left hind leg.) was that this “vet” was a kind of medicine twoleg who specialized in cats, dogs, etc., so he’d felt a little more at ease knowing he was soon to be in careful hands, but the experience was not like a trip to the medicine den at all! He barely remembered it for the most part (He’d blocked it out, along with other unpleasant memories from his past.), but what he did remember was that the medicine twoleg didn’t lesson the pain in his leg at all. If anything, his leg hurt much more after that horrible trip.
Upon arrival at the twoleg den where Roosterflame supposed he’d be taking up temporary residence until his leg healed and the twolegs who owned the place trusted him enough to let him go outside when he wished, Roosterflame was accosted by a little curly-furred thing of a dog that couldn’t have been much larger than Dawnstar at the very most. The dog just seemed curious and eager to play, but Roosterflame was not in the mood. Normally, he’d turn away and try to ignore it, but due to the pain in his leg and his frustration with having been captured and kidnapped a second time in less than six moons, Roosterflame swiped at the yappy thing, causing it to dash away, tail between legs.
Roosterflame regretted swiping at the dog. Even though it was a menace, Roosterflame wouldn’t have loathed its company, as he much preferred yappy little dogs to loud, annoying twolegs.
Eventually, the torture that was a broken leg ended, and although Roosterflame now would have to walk with a permanent, noticeable limp, he was fine, good as new, and ready to go home.
Annoyingly, this twoleg couple seemed a lot more careful with their pets, as they didn’t let Roosterflame out as an indoor-outdoor kittypet. Which, in Roosterflame’s opinion, was actually a pretty smart move for the twolegs, considering the predator population in the woods beyond, but horrible for Roosterflame.
Roosterflame made his escape only yesterday, when the twolegs were bringing in their fresh-kill. He hated hearing their despaired exclamations as he dashed from the house, and he wished the two of them the best of luck finding a Kittypet willing to live with them, but they were soon forgotten as the joy at the prospect of homecoming began to flood Roosterflame’s heart.
Now, he was back in ThunderClan territory, the cumbersome blue collar still around his neck, for it was tighter than the previous one. He would need help getting it off.
Roosterflame has regrettably failed to find any prey on the way back home, but he was sure that Sparrowstar would let him in besides (At least, he hoped it was Sparrowstar who would greet him. ThunderClan went through leaders so fast it often scared Roosterflame.).

Sootfur observed Flameheart approaching him again with a tabby she-cat at her heels. Both of them looked very pleased, and Sootfur felt a surge of pride as he noticed her mate already explaining her new apprentice a few things, giving tips and promises that he was sure she would fulfill.
"Greetings, Foxpaw." He spoke in a friendly tone as Flameheart introduced them to each other. "Of course, I'll always be available for you if you'll need anything. But let me tell you something." He glanced briefly at the orange warrior, pleased that she had decided to include him in her first mentorship. "Flameheart is one of the best warriors in Thunderclan, and she'll surely be the best teacher as well. If you trust her and put all you effort in it, you'll become an incredible warrior in no time."
Sootfur offered Foxpaw a warm smile and winked at her mate, before turning his gaze to Sparrowstar as the leader still listed more and more cats for new ceremonies.
As the name of Beankit was mentioned, he noticed Flameheart's mouth moving silently and her eyes fixed on the little furball under the Thunderwillow.
Sootfur laid his tail across her back, knowing how much this moment meant to her. He remembered now that Beankit was her kin, and her mind was probably still full of dark memories about what she had found out about their family.
Soon, he joined the chorus of cat voices that were welcoming the new apprentices in the clan. "Woodkit! Vixenpaw!

Re: ThunderClan Apprentices' Den
★・・Mottlepaw・・★
He was absolutely struck by the thought of that. His gaze went on over to Blazingpaw then back at Sparrowstar. Scowling silently grinding his teeth. He let out a cooling heave in order to exclude himself from any negative energy in the area. It was alright given that he was not in the best mood right now. And punishment was about to be given. He had silently scorned his childish-antics in the past now. He shall march forward and face them head on! Mottlepaw tried his best to keep himself up the best he could. It was surely the best he could do to keep his cool. He didn’t want to look like an ant in front of Blazingpaw. He continued to wear quite the anxious expression. But that all stopped the moment his ear drums picked up on the words.. working together?
He was working with Blazingpaw? What in Starclan was Sparrowstar thinking of doing that.? I-It was dangerous and he couldn’t possibly on the same side of that fellow. Their companionship would be off into the negatives. His heart raced into fury and complete disbelief. If it’s only for a moon.. you’ve got this Mottlepaw. He could only grieve and give in. Obeying to Sparrowstars wishes of both of them working together. Hopefully the elders would keep Blazingpaws ticks off of him.

Re: The Thunderwillow
Mistylight
@Naiad [Not need to reply, just saw an open post and thought Id give Misty someone to sit with]
It had been quite a while since the last meeting, hadn't it? At least longer than usual, and Mistylight blinked slowly as she emerged from the warriors' den, bushing up her pelt against the cold air. Leafbare was really making its presence known, and while she hadn't seen real snow yet, the mist and morning dew that usually greeted her in the morning had now turned into a thin layer of glittering frost. For a few moments her mind went back to her first Leafbare, and now harsh it had been. Young Mistypaw and her parents had spent a lot of time trying to feed the clan, so much so that she had bearly been in contact with her siblings. Let's hope Starclan is kinder on us this year.
Blue gaze glided over the clearing for a good place to settle, before she sat down beside Sundust, offering the younger tom a little nod along with a smile (not looking to disrupt the meeting with small talk, simply greet him) before turning to Sparrowstar. A light frown graced her face as she heard the long list of reassignments. Six this time? She knew the list wasn't growing, but it was still longer than it should be. Hopefully, these apprentices would need to be reassigned again.
But the reassignments were followed up by better news, and Mistylight straightened up a little to see the two kist who were called up. She couldn't see Beankit (though the cheers for them made her whiskers twitch with amusement), but did spot Vixenkit, and a wave of sympathy flooded Mistylight when she heard the kit's words. Had their family members gone missing? The blue-furred warrior remembered her own apprentice ceremony, all those years ago. She had been so glad her family members were there to support her, and couldn't imagine being without them.
