Ripplepelt let out a purr at Adderpaw's words. "You're very sweet. I'm glad to have something to remember the day by."

"I'm sure they'll love them. You're right though," Ripplepelt twitched her ears in agreement, "let's tuck that one away. We wouldn't want to tease them with what they can't have. Why don't you go find a spot to keep it for the moment? Then we can head in."

She hadn't been to visit the kits in a little while, so busy with the apprentices - she wondered how big they were getting. Some of them wouldn't be far off from apprenticeship, she was sure. She'd heard Willowshine had kitted recently - she was eager to see the tiny little things.

Shellwhisker sat in the clearing, settled down on her belly and sobbing, her face buried in between her snowy white forepaws. Where had Weaseltooth gone? She couldn't find him anywhere!

The only time Shellwhisker looked up was when she heard pawsteps approaching her. She looked up to see her Clanmate, [ insert name here ], taking a seat beside her.

''Hi, [ insert name here ]...'' The warrior muttered. Shellwhisker hadn't been able to find her mate, Weaseltooth, for days.

It was the day after everything with Weaseltooth had gone down, and she wasn't sure how far the gossip had gotten. Surely the tom's loved ones knew about him being exiled, right? Wrong. Cats being exiled quickly became old news around here, it happened so often. Attempted assassinations weren't that exciting for most cats anymore, either, to her dismay. How was she going to bring awareness to the apathetic?

Deciding to take things into her own paws, the ragdoll immediately began to seek out Shellwhisker, the cat who she assumed was Weaseltooth's mate. How would she react? The molly seemed to already be taking his absence hard without knowing what all had gone down. Sighing softly, she sat down beside the sobbing warrior. "Shellwhisker, I need to talk to you, if you're free?" She murmured gently after smiling kindly in greeting.

Shellwhisker's ice-blue eyes narrowed. She pushed herself into a sitting position, giving her chest fur a couple of embarrassed licks.

''What is it, Birdsnow?''

Shellwhisker normally wouldn't have talked so coldly towards the deputy, but she knew that Birdsnow would understand why she was so hostile.

Oooookaaaay. Birdsnow's eyes narrowed slightly at Shellwhisker's cold voice, but she decided to allot the warrior some grace, since she was currently missing her mate. Birdsnow knew how that felt (her mind flashed to a certain gray tabby, and she felt her heart clench)

"Before Larkstar announced it at the next meeting, I wanted you to be the first to know... because I know how upsetting it can be for your grief to be made public like that and I wouldn't wish that on anyone." Taking a deep breath, she continued as kindly as she could. "Yesterday, Weaseltooth attacked four kits and badly injured one. He was exiled for his actions because he was a threat to the safety of the Clan." She decided to redact the fact that he mentioned Sootpelt was his lover or the mother of his kits- that was for another time, and instead dipped her head to the warrior. How would Shell react?

Shellwhisker's eyes widened, her ears pricking up in alarm. Her voice broke as she spoke.

''Don't tell me you just said that, Birdsnow..'' The warrior's voice turned harsh.

''You exiled Weaseltooth because he attacked kits?'' Shellwhisker got to her paws, flattening her ears and digging her claws into the soft earth beneath her, keeping herself from springing at the deputy. She bared her teeth, letting out a furious snarl.

''If you hadn't exiled Sootpelt, maybe he wouldn't have turned on the Clan so harshly! Sootpelt was his kin, Birdsnow,'' Shellwhisker hissed, tears streaming down her cheek. ''HIS KIN!''

Shellwhisker hissed in the deputy's face. ''I do not want to see your face around me EVER. AGAIN. I don't even want to hear your voice,'' The warrior was clearly furious.

As she raced towards the camp entrance, Shellwhisker turned back and gave Birdsnow and ice-cold glare.

''From now on, I only take orders from Larkstar, Falconfeather, and Tansypaw. Accept that, Birdsnow. You lost the trust of one of your warriors because of decisions YOU made.''

With that spoken, Shellwhisker turned around, tail lashing, and raced out of the camp to see if she could find Weaseltooth.

Sending a silent pray for patience, the deputy narrowed her eyes as Shellwhisker proceeded to go off on her. What the hell was she supposed to do, let the cat who tried to kill her and the cat who viciously attack a whole group of kits stay in the Clan? Not to mention it was literally Larkstar who exiled him (not that she disagreed, she would have exiled him too but still Shellwhisker was in for a treat when she realized that going off on Bird wouldn't change anything)

"Sootpelt was a volatile danger to the Clan- she tried to kill me and Weaseltooth supported her being exiled- he actually helped me escort her out of the territory." She didn't understand- this was the second or third cat to tell her that all of the Clans problems had stemmed from her exiling her would-be murderer. Birdsnow let out an exasperated sigh, only showing signs of aggression when the cat got in her face and hissed.

Tone was icy and slightly annoyed as she rose to her paws and stared the cat right in the eyes. She wasn't going to be disrespected- that had happened enough in her life. "Unfortunately for you, you'll have to take orders from me. I am your deputy and like it or not, your mate was a danger to the Clan. Accept that." She said, forcing her voice to remain calm as she echoed what Shellwhisker had said. How the hell was she the bad guy in this situation? Whatever. Did these cats truly think they could hurt her? She didn't care if Shellwhisker hated her- if Bird had truly done something wrong, she would certainly care, but Shellwhisker was to the peak of delusion if she thought Birdsnow was going to crawl after her and beg for forgiveness. I'm so sorry everyone for helping exile the threats to our Clan. I should've let Weaseltooth maul the kits. I should have argued against Larkstar's choice to remove those idiotic, violent furballs (HA). I should have let Sootpelt kill me. Give me a break.

Letting out an irritated, weary sigh, the deputy rose to her paws and left the clearing.
