Lightningpaw smirked as Moontail got in her face. Oh she was hoping that she would give Lightningpaw a reason to swing at her. "I see this wasn't about the battle at all but who is sitting in the leader's den."
She walked around Moontail and swiped her tail along the other shecat's flank. "I bet you think that you would be such a so much better leader than my mentor and the deputy, yet.." She stopped as she made it back to be facing Moontail. "I think you'd crumble the moment you got power. Its not for you."

Moontail took her paw from under Lightningpaw's. She turned around, slipping her tail under the apprentice's face. Her eyes at last rounded out.
"Perhaps no one." She murmured quietly. "Or more than one. Were you there before Sunglow perished?" She continued smoothly, her kinder voice showing through. "If so, then you might grasp where my trail is leading."

Moontail took her paw from under Lightningpaw's. She turned around, slipping her tail under the apprentice's face. Her eyes at last rounded out.
"Perhaps no one." She murmured quietly. "Or more than one. Were you there before Sunglow perished?" She continued smoothly, her kinder voice showing through. "If so, then you might grasp where my trail is leading."

"No I never heard of them, too many cats running about." Lightningpaw was getting bored of this. She just wanted to know what this cat wanted. "Tell it to me straight Moontail. What is it you want in this clan?" She wanted to bite the tail that went under her chin. A part of her knew that her mentor would let her get away with it but she needed information.

"Oh, pray tell." The words rolled off Wolfpaw's tongue like venom from fangs. He was sick and tired of these yellow-hearts complaining. "You got a problem, Moontail? There's the freakin' entrance. Don't let a branch kill you on the way out."
If she did leave, she'd just damn herself further. And he was fine with that - because cats who openly opposed the leadership, who thought treason was the best route, were worth dirt. And those kids? They'd be better off in a world without the disgrace that tried to call herself a mother.
