cobwebstorm stifled a giggle at owlstar's words, typically bunched-up shoulders softening. just a bit. ' i was dreamin'. don't do that much lately. sleep's.. not easy. ' her eyes flashed, fear and pain and sorrow all at once. ' 'n somehow.. accidentally brought bumblestar into my dream. i didn' mean to, and i don't know how she got there. i thought dreams were meant to be peaceful.. ' cobwebstorm trailed off, tensing back up. ready to run, ready to defend herself. ready to curl into a ball and hide if owlstar decided to attack.

Ah, dreams? The leader wrinkled her nose slightly as her mind wandered, latching onto Cobwebstorm's words like an iron claw. No wonder she looked terrible, poor girl barely got a wink of sleep, and when she managed to--- "Bumblestar?" Owlstar echoed, her good eye widening. Oh no, this was worse. Way worse. The lines of a snarl edged her scarred muzzle.
"Bumblestar has always been hostile towards Riverclan, but I don't see why she'd go outta 'er way ta rough ya up. Then again... I wouldn't put it past 'er."She'd 'ave ta be fed up. If not then, definitely now. Her face was deeply knotted, wrinkles depending as her scowl increased. There was something missing, she was missing something.
"Whatcha say ta 'er? What did she say?" Owlstar had wondered why Bumblestar was more quiet when it came to announcements at gatherings as of late, as well as the absence of Spiderthroat when Owlstar was last at a gathering. Maybe her questions about Thunderclan's shadiness had already been answered, but if they had, Owlstar doubted she would've forgotten.
Also, if she could wrench some form of information about the state of Thunderclan despite the panic that swelled in her bones, that would make this whole situation a lot less aggravating. The last thing she needed was another clan on her tail, as if they weren't already.
"... Why didn't cha wake up? I understand it was yer dream, and ya 'aven't slept well, but if ya saw Bumblestar right in their wit ya, why not wake up?" Owlstar saw the logic behind deciding to sleep, but what good was sleep when being antagonized by a clan leader? Being sleep deprived beat that tremendously.

Owlstar gave a slow shake of her head, watching as tears pooled in the medics waterline. "Oh hun," she began, her voice not entirely free from the edge it had before, but it wasn't as prominent. "It ain't yer job ta be somecat's therapist. I know ya 'ave a good heart, but Bumblestar's got 'er own support n' can deal with 'er own crap. Ya don't owe 'er an apology, ya didn't do anythin'." The leader let her paws shuffle from under her fur, her scowl still lingering.
Lost some cats? Owlstar offered Cobwebstorm a flick of her ear. Maybe predators, maybe illness, maybe unfortunate events. Owlstar wasn't sure, but maybe she'd find out soon enough. Maybe she'd be dead before she could. That'd be kinda funny, right? 'Here to stay' my butt, she gets killed in the first season!
"I know ya were scared, but stuff like this oughta come with caution. Don't want cha ta turn yer heart off, but when it comes ta stuff like this, tryin' ta heal or mend a cat ya don't know, heck, barely even see in passin' ain't right. She didn't need closure from ya, she probably didn't even want it. Yer words mean nothin' ta 'er, and that's okay. Ya don't owe her a thing. N' honestly? She's probably more offended than anythin'."
Shock.
She was so shocked by the sudden contact the leader nearly jolted away from Cobwebstorm, but she also somewhat lurched forward, half worried Cobwebstorm was passing out by overheating on stress. Turns out, Cobwebstorm was just crying. A lot.
The tabby sucked in a sharp breath, not entirely sure how to react other than to lean into the smaller cat, hoping it would offer some level of comfort. Was she frustrated? Beyond belief. Was she mad? Furious. But as much of those things she was, she was also somewhat understanding. Cobwebstorm meant no harm. She just had a really big heart. "Y'know, I ain't too happy...." Owlstar said, breaking the veil of silence.
"I'll think of a punishment. Ya probably won't come ta the gatherin', this is a blunder if anythin'. Prove yerself worthy a yer position, Cobwebstorm. Ya ain't here ta nurture and care fer the cats of Thunderclan fer stars sake, yer here ta look after Riverclan. Show me ya care about Riverclan 'nough ta give 'em pep talk, soothe their woes, n' encourage 'em."
More silence followed, and the she-cat twined her tail around Cobwebstorm's. "'Lest ya 'ave anythin' else ta tell me, I think ya should be seein' yerself out. Get some rest too. Ya'll need it. And if ya see Bumblestar again in yer dreams tonight, come ta me, kay chap?" She allowed her rough tongue to run over Cobwebstorm's ear before she lifted her head and gave her space to go. "I'll knock the color right outta 'er iris' if she lays another claw on ya. Dream 'er not."

cobwebstorm sniffled, blinking through the haze of tears that clung stubbornly to her lashes. the weight of owl's words pressed heavy on her chest, but not in the way she expected. the leader's frustration was familiar—cobwebstorm was reminded sharply of stormstar—but buried within that sharpness was something cobwebstorm could almost cling to: understanding, and maybe even care.
' i... i know, owls, ' she began, voice trembling. ' you're right. i.. shouldn't have... i shouldn't have tried to fix what wasn't mine to fix. i—i thought I was helping.. i just... ' cobwebstorm's words faltered, her claws scraping lightly against the den floor. ' i jus'.. don't want anyone to feel like they're alone. like i... like i do. ' stars, that was embarassing to say.
her ears flattened against her head as she let out a shaky exhale. she hesitated, lifting her head to meet owlstar's gaze, her blue eyes rimmed with a lingering sadness but determined, albiet her deep tiredness. ' thank you... for not giving up on me. ' she said softly, leaning briefly into the leader's comforting touch before stepping back, her tail dragging low but slowly beginning to lift.
' i'll get some rest, ' she promised, voice still shaky but a bit firmer now. ' and if... if i see her again, i'll come to you. swear it. ' she glanced back as she turned to leave, her tail tip twitching uncertainly. ' 'nd, owlstar... thank you. for everything. i won't forget this. do- do you mind if i go? 'you're not allowed to leave until i excuse you. storm's voice echoed through her mind and cobwebstorm breathed deeply.

Cloudgaze came bounding in, carrying a small shell he had been hiding in his den for sometime. "Hi Owlstar, I figured I'd come and congratulate you on getting your name, and I brought you the shiniest shell from my collection as a gift! If you need anything at all, from patrols to someone to chat to, you're always welcome to ask me, alright?" He seemed very cheerful and hyperactive. But then again, he always was. His ears twitched softly as he waited for his leader's response.
Honeypaw fidgeted with his paws, outside of where he was pretty sure the leader resides. Not the dark molly they had met and let them inside of the clan, she was dead. It was the other one… uhm, the terminology wasn’t coming to mind like it should. The second in command, but it was one word, and now she was the leader. It was… a lot. But Honeypaw wanted to speak with her, about the clan, about himself, about what was expected of Honeypaw here. He knew stories from Floodpaw, but he knew nothing. And that was terrifying. He was used to the alleys and apartments and housefolk, but the forest and rivers and… it was all lost on him. “Owl, The word strange, not the same way that he’s heard other cats say it, “Owl..star?” He tested the name, unsure if it was correct or if he messed up.. He just hoped that Owl was more friendly.

As Stagheart ducked in at the permission of his leader, he noted the slight sleepiness in her eyes. Ah, dangit — had he disturbed her sleep? Thankfully she didn't seem to mind. He paused a moment, glancing around; last time he'd been in here had been to discuss this very same topic with the medicine cat and Daisypaw... and Stormstar, of course. It felt strange not to see the late gray leader now, although he did note that Owlstar seemed fitting in her stead. That was quite the relief; he was grateful to have faith in his leadership after all that's happened to his Clan.
Dipping his head respectfully in greeting, Stagheart sat down on the cool stone, ignoring the way the cold leeched through his haunches. "Sorry to bother ya wit' this, but it's somethin' that's been ongoin' for poor Daisypaw. Ain't sure how much you know 'bout the situation, but she's got... a condition." He furrowed his whisker brows as if trying to recall what Berryshine had said about it; he was no medic himself and strained to find proper words to describe the young cat's ailments. "She's, ah... sorta weak. And I don't just mean strength; I mean that certain things she can or can't do, and if she does 'em anyway, might pull a muscle or somethin'. Can't train 'er like a normal 'paw, that's for sure."
He paused a moment, frowning. "If you remember, Fadin'star had gone to assign her as a Caretaker. I was gonna get some instructions on how to train her from 'im, but then he... left, shortly after." Stagheart's torn ear flicked as if recalling the way Waterlily, the fierce elder, had practically chased the former leader out. "Then Stormstar almost wanted Daisy to be taken out of the Clan, let some Twolegs take 'er in 'cause Clan life weren't suited for her. But she let her stay since Berryshine said she was gettin' better 'n stronger over time."
Stars, he never spoke this much. He was starting to hate the sound of his own voice. Clearing his throat, the tabby tom gave a shrug of his broad shoulders, looking at Owlstar with measured respect of her opinion.
"Now... well, bad part is that I never got to trainin' Daisy on anythin' 'cause I never got a chance to be told what to do wit' 'er. Guess now that question falls to you... 'n so long as you ain't disappearin' into the ground as we speak, maybe I'll be able to figure it out this time." The last words were said in dry humor, blue eyes glinting in the dimness of the cave. He waited to see if Owlstar had any other questions of clarifiers, or if she'd get right to the instructions.

"Owlstar" The Tom asked into the empty space right outside of the leader's den, checking to see if the leader was in for one, and for two didn't mind him visiting right now. "I meant to come see you earlier, but... I have more details about the coyote that you'll need to hear before you leave with a patrol." Or maybe not 'need' but having what little more information that Seabreeze had was still more information when they could be dealing with a pack of canines. He waited for a response before entering the den.
Seabreeze sighed and walked into camp with an unaided glare, just generally upset with the situation but at least it wasn’t anything too bad. It was annoying. The warrior sighed and took a deep breath before making his way to Owlstar to report the situation to her. “Owlstar, I ran into an outsider at the Thunderclan border.” He stepped into the den after a moment, allowing the leader time to deny or allow him access. Before he continued with his explanation. “Around my age, hunting our side of the border. I told them to scram and leave the prey, but they refused until I threatened them. To which they ran with the prey, just a frog but prey nonetheless. I didn’t give chase because I felt like the energy wasn’t worth it.” He looked up, waiting for a response.
