Snowclaw nodded his head in thanks to Owltalon's remark of congratulations, before he flinched at what she said next. His legacy? He realized he hadn't set himself much. Just being a cat the Clan could tolerate, the father Cinderhive would need him to be, that was overwhelming. He felt his ears droop, and the chuckle didn't ease his nervousness. He really overthinking the situation. He pawed at the ground more fiercly, as if his problems could be swatted away.

Owltalon flicked her ears, too focused on reviewing her words to notice Snowclaw's sudden change in behavior.

"Are you excited?" She said finally, looking up at the warrior with curious brown eyes.

She would've guessed he was. Behind any layer of fear or anxiety about upcoming kits was excitement. At least, that's what her mother told her.

"I know I would be," she added. "It's a huge honor, really."

Then Owltalon clamped her mouth shut. Something about his blue gaze was littered with worry.

Shoot.

"Was it something I said?"

Snowclaw was excited, yes, but he was also afraid. From the way Owltalon was saying things about honor and so forth just made him more nervous than ever. He hadn't even seen his mate, not since the nursery. He wanted to, but had decided not to let her see his fear. When Owltalon shut her maw, he shrugged his bshoulders in response. His tail flicked every now and then, making quiet thump sounds as he tried to ease his worrisome state.

Owltalon wrinkled her snout, trying to bend her brain to make her say something somewhat comforting, because oh Starclan was she failing miserably.

"I'm so sorry," she blurted, her face still smushed into a apologetic expression.

How could she ever make a comeback from that!? She contemplated scooting away from Snowclaw, maybe keeping some of his and her dignity in the process. But she stayed.

Gosh darnit-

"No need to worry though," she managed. "The clan will except your kits with open arms! Huh, but that's kind of obvious, right?"

Owltalon groaned, curling her tail tightly around herself. That went well.

Snowclaw stood and stretched, inclining his head simply. "I suppose you're right, but these things will change your life, if you choose to have kits of your own. Consider that you may not be the cat you were before they came," and with a curt nod, he padded away, waving his tail goodbye.

he smiled lightly at her "well then?" he mewed as he began to walk out of the clearing. he looked visibly happy, he was excited to leave the camp, and even more excited that he was leaving with somebody else.

Goldfish was so relieved to be back at camp that she almost tried to run to the warriors den. But she kept herself in check and shook out her pelt, wincing and lifting her hind leg off the ground. She felt safe beside her friend. Man, Shellwhisker would be so shocked at this story! She and Pepper were Warriors, not apprentices! How silly they had been. Pepperbounce helped her over in front of the medicine den. "I'm okay, give me a few moments, I'm tired! Hey, you must feel Reee-aaally tired, right? You won't make me go to the medicine den because you're too tired to go yourself, right?" She tried to wriggle her way out of it, praying it would work. They could see the medicine cat later. Besides, she'd pop him in the nose if he argued for too long. In all playfulness... probably. She was like that sometimes.
Goldfish slid to the ground and lay there defiantly, giving Pepperbounce a mock-begging look.

Pepper Bounce

Pepper Bounce was more then just relieved as they finally made it back to camp and lowered his head, explaining that they thought it would be fun to go out onto the ice would be horrible and pepper wasn’t looking forward to the scolding he’d assume would happen, although GoldFish seemed rather perky about it! He was a little surprised she wasn’t eager to get treated to right away, if anything Pepper Bounce was going to take her straight to the medicine den no questions asked expecting her to be all for it. But he understood the hesitation anyway.’I suppose we can stay here well you rest for a moment, the walk back must’ve really knocked you out with all the leaning on me and wincing from the pain you did.’ Pepper jokes as he sat down giving himself a moment to rest as well.

Seeing the mocking pleasing look, Pepper Bounce rolled his eyes as GoldFish slid down, and he glanced around. Hopefully some other cat would do the persuading here and he wouldn’t have to drag out some long argument. ‘We should go see the medicine cat the moment you’ve rested agian. We’re both sore here and my flank and paws are hurting like crazy! ’ pepper curled his tail around himself as he shifted.
