**Petal**

The young tortoiseshell stepped forward, noticing the subliminal movements in Blackfir's slight step backward as he seemed to concede to the cat in front of them. She looked over the light-colored she-cat that had emerged from the den.
This must be Sparrowstar... and she put together that this cat must be some sort of leader by the way Blackfir turned to her and gave her the basic rundown of everything.
Is my future to be decided by this cat I've never met before? Her head cocked ever so slightly as she tried to puzzle it all together. Blackfir had told her things about the clans but it was never much. They didn't talk much about all of the workings of things, whether that had been by design on his part or he simply had other things he'd rather have talked about, Petal never asked many questions and was content to simply listen. She walked past Blackfir, keeping the tom in her peripherals, her head lowered but her green eyes looking up at the leader.
"My name..." she started quietly. She wasn't much used to her own voice but was acutely aware of how quiet she was and what sort of impression that was likely to give so she swallowed and tried to project her voice,
"Petal. My name's Petal." She held Sparrowstar's gaze as she thought over the second question.
"I do not know why we came. I was only following Delphic. I knew of the smells of your...what do you call it? Borders? So I knew when we were walking it. Her attacks never made any sense but this time..." She was aware of the unconscious switch of her eyes from the leader towards Blackfir though she kept her head straight and switched back quickly.
"My loyalties never lied with her." Loyalties... Why was that a word that felt like it had some significance here? Had she ever truly felt this loyalty? Certainly not towards Delphic. Maybe she'd come close with Beetle but he was...she didn't want to think about Beetle now. He'd helped her but she felt little towards him. She wasn't sure what she felt towards Blackfir but he was the closest to a friend she'd ever experienced.
"I am here now because I have spent all of the life I know fighting to survive. I am looking for somewhere to go and I bring good skills. I can fight and I am a good hunter." Her throat felt scratchy from overuse but if there ever was a time to speak up she figured it was now or never.
