Make sure to congratulate Versailles on their promotion from c-mod in training to fully fledged chat moderator! They've worked very hard, and we can't wait to see where they go from here!
Primroseadder closed her eyes, taking a deep breath before stepping into the den and beginning to speak. ''I know that you're likely still upset about the Gathering, but if I don't bring this up, another cat will,'' She met Owlstar's half-blind gaze, her ears twitching as she sat down. ''While I like Berryshine, you cannot deny that Cobwebstorm was as great a medicine cat as she is. Her demotion at the Gathering took every cat who went with you by surprise, including myself.''
''Ever since we returned to our territory, I can't help but feel as if the other three Clans have been taking every chance they can get their paws on to boss us around---ThunderClan, especially,'' Owlstar giving in so easily---willingly---to Bumblestar's demands at the Gathering had only proved Primroseadder right, not wrong. ''I get why WindClan wants recompensation, as Grayowl and Morningpaw killed one of their own and our cats are to blame for that. But ThunderClan? What have we done to them for Bumblestar to demand that we demote our medicine cat? To demand their so-called 'recompensation?' If anything, ThunderClan should be recompensating RiverClan for the damage they did to us, goin' through a starsdamned plague or not. They attacked Larkwing, they should've given us herbs.''
Primroseadder was at a loss for breath after the words rolled out of her mouth. ''You may not have been thinking about it, Owlstar, but I---and likely others---have. If you haven't noticed, RiverClan is being treated like prey by the other Clans---by ThunderClan. We're being bullied, pushed around. We've had too many leadership changes, and I think Bumblestar is seeing that as a sign of weakness and vulnerability---Dawnstar, too, even if she doesn't show it. I'm sick and tired of it, and I want somethin' to be done.''
''I'm not telling you to do somethin' about it, I am simply coming and telling you about how I feel. No offense, but I feel like you gave into Bumblestar's demands too easily---you pulled Cobwebstorm's position out from underneath her paws without giving her a damn warning, and on the word of the ThunderClan leader! Bumblestar's probably the worst of 'em all, Owlstar,'' Primroseadder took a deep breath. ''We're---We're upset, Owlstar. We're upset that Cobwebstorm is being ripped from her position as a medicine cat just because Bumblestar said so. We're letting ThunderClan walk all over us, demotin' her.''
"yes I've got their names. first there's Riverkit she's a grey she-kit w/ brown eyes. then there's Mudkit he's a brown tom with grey eyes. then there's stemkit she's a Brown she-kit with grey eyes. and finally there's Wavekit he's a Grey tom with brown eyes." Waveclaw mews to owlstar

We're upset that Cobwebstorm is being ripped from her position as a medicine cat just because Bumblestar said so. We're letting ThunderClan walk all over us, demotin' her.''
"Did ya... Miss the first part of the gatherin'?" her voice hinged on genuine. That would explain all the hot nonsense tumbling out of Primroseadder's mouth faster than fox dung. The leader regarded the warrior with a level gaze before she opened her maw to fill the she-cat in on whatever she'd missed (or if she had selective hearing).
"Don't cha remember the poison in the river? The plague that Thunderclan went through? Bumblestar is a loose cannon, in case ya 'aven't noticed, and gettin' er on our tail will lead us ta permanent exile." Owlstar pointed out. "Unless ya fancy mountains, I ain't finda charge Riverclan inta another conflict. So this ain't me rollin' over, I'm plannin' ahead."
"And incase ya missed it, when Bumblestar confronted me 'bout Cobwebstorm, she wasn't bluffin'. Cobwebstorm 'erself told me a few days before the gatherin' that she'd been dragged inta Bumblestar's dreams n' attempted to relate ta the leader. It went south. Terribly. I told her the risks a this, made it known that er behavior was unacceptable. She didn't tell me 'bout er visitin' the apprentice dreams, but her not tellin' me was enough ta loose some form a trust." The tabby licked her muzzle before continuing. "What good is a high rank that cain't keep their own business and best intrest in their clan?" she pointed out, the taste in her mouth growing bitter. The more she talked, the more angry she grew. Angry at Cobwebstorm and angry at Bumblestar for hurting her, angry at Primroseadder for having selective hearing.
"Bumblestar has every right ta be angry, every clan does. We've don't nothin' so far but mess with whatever they might've been doing, killin' their deputies, n' maulin' their young. We aren't in a position for retaliation, because frankly, it only takes two clans and Dawnstar's boredom ta get us scramblin' like ants." It was miracle within itself that she'd managed to salvage things with Windclan.
"Now ain't the time ta make enemies, it's time ta make allies. We don't deserve ta be prideful if we ain't got no stability, let alone any fightin' ground. So no, I didn't demote Cobwebstorm just because Bumblestar told me to. I was already thinkin' 'bout it myself, the leaders fury only solidified by decision. One cat ain't worth goin' ta war over. Ya should know that, considerin' what Riverclan has been through. N' if yer fed up 'bout me preventin' war?" she scoffed, unable to keep the disbelief from her voice. "Then ya 'ave the same 'mount of sense as a sun-dried turtle."
''I'm not fed up about you tryin' to prevent a war,'' Primroseadder mewed, her gaze meeting Owlstar's. ''And I know that one singular cat isn't worth goin' into battle for, but I just can't help but feel as if we're letting ThunderClan push us around by demotin' Cobwebstorm, regardless of what either Clan has gone through, regardless of whether or not you were already thinkin' about it.''
The warrior shifted on her paws. ''I'm sorry. I wasn't thinkin' of the poison in the river, or---or the mountains. I...I don't want to go back there,'' She admitted, wrapping her tail around her paws. ''I'm just worried about Berryshine. She's not used to not havin' another cat, especially because Cobwebstorm has been helping her ever since Stormstar promoted her.''
''Trainin' Mosspaw and Almondchatter givin' birth to my half-siblings has opened my eyes to the potential dangers that lay inside and outside of our camp,'' Primroseadder's ears swiveled. ''What I'm tryin' to say is that, yes, while we've been through a damn lot, Owlstar, I want to help prevent any more threats to the Clan, if you'll let me. I don't want to sit around and wait for you and the Lionhearts to figure something out. I want to actively help you all out.''
Owlstar turned to the entrance of her den, ears perking as amber flashed behind a veil of lichen. "Yeah, what's goin' on, Adderstrike?" she addressed the she-cat by name, picking absentmindedly at her mossbed.
Adderstrike
Determined ⋆ Loyal ⋆ Lawful Good ⋆ She/Her ⋆ Killer Aptitude T3
“I can fix her!”
It was nice to see that Owlstar was relaxed at least. With being asked what was on her mind, the shecat walked into the den and sat down in front of Owlstar. Did she remember how much it seemed like Adderstrike liked to talk? Well here would go the reminder. "So I talked about this a long time ago to Fadingstar but I still feel like this is something worthy to be said again and considered once again." She rolled her shoulders a bit and took a deep breath. She was trying to not get too emotional with this but this was a lot. It was her life, it was everyone's life but it was what Adderstrike thought was for the better.
"When we were thinking about going back to the forest after our exile I tried to offer up the idea of staying in the mountains. Sure we needed to find a better spot so we weren't rubbing shoulders as hard with the Atari, but staying up there was much better than going back down here. He wanted to return to see if things would change and honestly... I don't think they have.”
“Thunderclan doesn’t seem to want to do anything other than to decorate the forest with our guts and suffering. I will not take their tragedy as an excuse for acting this way either. It's juvenile and stupid. We were not the cause of their plague and if we started to attack clans just because of a grieving leader then no one would be on our side, why is it different here? Why are we the only ones with sin here and must be tormented forever?” She then shook her head to focus back on the main part of this.
“We should seriously consider going back up into the mountains once again.” She said with a firm and serious expression on her face. This was a heavy choice to take but with all her heart Adderstrike thought it to be the right one.
“The last gathering that happened, Bumblestar threatened to take all of Stormstar’s lives right on the seastones. This whole time Thunderclan has wanted nothing but to harm Riverclan and it feels they are trying to find the smallest excuses to harm us. She wants nothing with diplomacy, she is waiting for us to breathe wrong to come and slaughter us. I do not trust a single word that squirrel has to say. Nothing we can do is good enough for her. She demanded that we did something more about Cobwebstorm and when you pivoted and did something she wasn’t satisfied. She said nothing to it. And this isn’t a comment entirely on your choice here but that nothing will ever be good enough for the thunderrat, she wants to rule our clan like it’s hers and at the same time use it as battle practice.”
“I might be swayed to think that the windrogues won’t do anything just for the hell of it but, One less hardly matters and if the thunderrats decide to attack us, the shadowrogues will just join for fun. It’s a disgusting and distressing position we have been put in.”
“Nothing we can do will ever be enough for them no matter what they say. So the only thing left to do is leave. We cannot fight all of them nor bear being attacked, honestly even the stress is straining on one's health.” Adderstrike wouldn’t outright say it but she was on edge that one day the thunderrats would just waltz into the clan once again. She had cats important to her that she needed to protect, it was something that she promised but with such a looming threat it was daunting to say the least.
“We know that there is relative safety up within the mountains and while there might be a lack of our namesake up there it is hardly a reason against this. There is so much room up there we should be able to find land of our own… And I think it’s better to just go instead of ‘wait and see’ing it… I know its a massive decision to go through with this but I don’t want it to take another invasion of our camp to seriously think about this.” Adderstrike said before letting out a sigh. It felt like some weight was lifted off of her shoulders but there was still so much weight. Would Owlstar even consider this or would Adderstrike just be laughed out of her. Or even worse not seen loyal to the cause; whatever that may be. The last thing was Adderstrike wanted to be seen as not loyal but there wasn’t a moment in her life where there wasn’t the looming threat of the other clans attacking them for whatever they saw fit.
“Just think about it, ok? I lived my whole life with these mangy cats wanting to attack us at any moment for anything that seemed ‘reasonable’ enough to their absent morals. I think it would be nice if kits could be born without this worry. And I don’t think any amount of playing nice will be enough for these cats. So… Just think about it.” Adderstrike said with a sorrowful look on her face. She started to get up from the ground expecting that this wouldn’t be a long conversation. She mostly intended to leave her thoughts here in the end anyways. Though it did feel good to finally get this off of her chest and to someone of power. Maybe.. Just maybe there would be a change for the better.
His opening statement was enough to make her relax, if not slightly. She knew no bad news would come to her, at least nothing terrible. After blunder after blunder she was looking forward to something new. Ah, Lionheart requests.
Her interest was, of course, granted as the tom spoke, fur filled ears twitching after nearly every word. Two good requests. She was hoping Rowanmane could join the ranks once more, as well as Duskleaf. Both had been quite helpful regarding the deaths that swept their clan. "What 'bout Seabreeze? Figured he's more mentally stable now, and nicely active 'round the clan." she pointed out with a gesturing of her paw. "But, I have no objections. We need more Lionhearts, and the chaps you've requested ain't far from my own thoughts."
A name change? Owlstar perked. "Hm... Unexpected, don't cha think?" she teased, a smile wrinkling her features. "Of course, whatcha got? As long as it ain't somethin' completely stupid."

At Owlstar's suggestion, the Lionheart looked thoughtful. "Seabreeze has helped the few times I've asked with no complaint." He mused. "I'd like to keep him in mind, but if you don't mind, I'd like to monitor him a bit more before we do." He said finally with a nod. "I'm sure we'll need more help eventually."
The tom chuckled at Owlstar's comment. "Well, I hope you don't think it's stupid." Brokenstream said, nudging his friend's shoulder playfully with a paw. "I..." He paused, looking a bit sheepish. "I'd like to be called Sunheart." He mewed finally, expression still the same. Would that sound conceited and make him look full of himself? He felt it described his character better than the name his mother gave him..."Broken". He'll never understand how she got away with using his markings for that one. Oh, well. It hasn't bothered him since he was an apprentice, and honestly, it still didn't. However, he didn't feel it represented who he was.
"Do you think it's too much?" He laughed awkwardly.
Owlstar lifted herself from her mossbed slightly, peering through lichen before the warrior stuck his furry head into her den. She offered him an acknowledging glance and a wave of her tail, beckoning him inside. "Figured it important, yeah? Whatcha need?"
Oh! Hi!! Mudhaze beamed at her and shuffled into the den, trying to act all nonchalant before he launched into his very AWESOME very EPIC speech about why he was the greatest! He took two paces forward, puffed his chest out, and threw his head back.
"I'm offering myself up as your next deputy!" he crowed. "Because I'm GREAT and so very cool and you can totally trust me with literally anything because I WILL NOT screw it up!! And I'll fight anybody who does. YOU'RE awesome and I'M awesome and we can so be super awesome together! Best-friends-who-take-over-the-whole-forest AWESOME! YES!"

very large, muscular, & scarred light brown tabby tom with stark blue eyes and a torn ear; killer aptitude t3 | just a scratch | dreamwalker

Stagheart listened to Owlstar's words, grateful that the mottled brown she-cat seemed to be working collaboratively with him on this. She appeared just as intrigued as him to find something for the young she-cat to do, a way she was still a true RiverClanner without needing to retire to the elder's den at apprentice's age.
"Well... I know she can do some exercises her 'n Berry drummed up, 'n I believe she's done a huntin' event recently. So she can do basic stuff, looks like, without needin' to spend the night in the medicine den." The large tom sniffed, eyes narrowing in thought. "Don't know how much more intense it could get than that, though. I figure that any combat trainin' is gonna need lotsa slow progress 'n care. Play it by ear." It wasn't as cemented of an answer as Stagheart would've liked, but it was the best they had. Berryshine could only do and know so much, and the rest would be up to trial-and-error within Daisypaw's limits.
As for what she enjoyed... the battle-scarred warrior tipped his head, thinking. "I know she likes helpin' Berry out, given that she spent most of her kithood there. Cleanin', organizin', that sorta thing. Reckon she's real good at it by now," he remarked in the dryly humored tone; moons of that menial task or just being constricted to herbs in general would've driven him insane, but then again, he was a warrior through and through. His life was called for claws and bloodshed, hunting and defending — Daisypaw's was on a different path, as was Berryshine's.
"'N I've seen 'er helpin' out the kits 'n queens in the nursery before, 'specially since Willowtail moved in. Think she enjoys carin' for others and organizin'. Maybe she could help teach kits some things 'n be a sort of helper for Berry here or there. Besides that... I know she's a feisty lil' thing, despite her condition. Got a fiery heart 'n determination — I'm sure whatever you put 'er up to, she'll give it all she's got."

I don't want to sit around and wait for you and the Lionhearts to figure something out. I want to actively help you all out.''
The tabby swallowed a growl, somehow managing to keep her tone heavy but approachable. "We ain't gettin' pushed around, at least not without reason. It was my call. If Bumblestar was lyin' ta the moon n' back, I woulda called 'er out fer it. N' clan history does matter when in comes ta stuff like this. It determines war, does it not?" she was a claw away from exiling this cat.
Owlstar gave her tail a flick. "Valuable concern, but Cobwebstorm was only just promoted before er demotion. Before then, squ--- Berryshine, was handlin' just fine. No doubt it's gonna take er a bit before she finds an apprentice---" she didn't blame the she-cat in the slightest. Loosing Cobwebstorm was a harsh decision, but one she knew was the right call. "But she's a strong gal. I trust her ta carry er weight cuz she's done it before."
"If ya think yer thinkin' is helpin' more than my elites I think yer mistaken, or if ya think they ain't helpin' at all." she gave a flick of the tip of her tail. "I know what's goin' on beyond my clan, thus the damage control. Actin' on pure emotion er 'gettin' even', won't help us. We ain't got no clan backin' us, and if ya try ta do somethin' disruptive in the aim a helpin' out, then yer more of a crabs claw in my side if anythin'. I appreciate that cha wanna help, but this ain't exactly helpin'. Ain't cha aidin' the apprentices in trainin'? Stick with that. That's helpful, not meddlin' with issues that don't concern ya, the very thing that got Cobwebstorm demoted."

She, Her\Leader\49 moons\Riverclan
"My pulse is clear, rushing through my ears."
The more Adderstrike spoke, the more wide her eyes grew, the more she wanted to exile her (if she liked the mountains soooo much, why not drop her off there? Hm?), and the more her bewilderment boiled over into her expression, making her matted fur bristle.
"I hope ya realize how insane ya sound." Owlstar commented after the warrior was finished. While some thought was put into Adderstrike's words, it obviously wasn't enough. "I already got an answer fer ya chap." she mewed, straightening her sitting position.
"The reason why our actions are more like stains than blunders is 'cuz a our long line and lack of stability, as well as our talent ta get on other clan's nerves. No other clan has had the same sour run that we do with Thunderclan, 'specially now. We've been doin' this fer so long, actively screwin' clans over, and ya think they wouldn't be willin' ta give us a taste a our own medicine? I knew that if some other clan was actin' up so frequently, managin' ta get all the clans fed up as a whole, I'd be on their tail."
Owlstar briefly remembered Thunderclan being in a similar situation that they were in sometime ago, though her memory was as clear as a swamp on an autumn day. In other words: unclear. Every clan was fed up with Thunderclan and they had to deal with the same thing before they themselves got a stable leader. She wasn't sure if she'd experienced the events herself or if it was heard within whispers. It was the same treatment, but for Riverclan this time.
"I need ya ta realize how hypocritical this is. Ya say ya don't wanna be pushed around by the other clans, eh? But fleein'' ta the mountains is doin' just that. Instead of standin' our ground if invasion does come, and fightin' fer the home we tried so hard ta get back ta, ya wanna go back just cuz ya don't think we 'ave a chance here? Just cuz the clans are bein' a bit mean? I understand faith is low, but we've barely been 'ere fer four moons, and yer already so keen ta run away?" No, no, no. Not on her watch. She wasn't as anxious to get back to the worst three moons of her life.
"Going back ta 'em mountains is goin' right were they want us. Right were they put us. Gone. And I don't know 'bout ya, but I ain't goin' anywhere, not til they kill me themselves, but I'mma fight fer my clan, regardless of outcome or possible humiliation." Adderstrike must've been sick, she wasn't thinking right.
"Aye, imagine I did say yes, eh? Remember how much I struggled ta get up Seastones? Fell and nearly broke my crown tryin' ta get up there. Now imagine a whole mountain. Laced with snow and predators more than three times our size, slick and slippery ice. Blood would run down those stones worse than smashed berries. Ya wanna prevent death? Maybe don't put a whole clan a cats on a glorified frozen river unless ya fancy red snow." she knew that with the Atari up there, a living and thriving group of cats, life was possible up the mountains. But, in Riverclan's time there, they barely managed to get by and probably would've been dead if they'd gone during leaf-bare, completely wiped out.
Who knew how long it took for the Atari themselves to adjust to their conditions? Owlstar didn't trust her chances. The clan was already weak, and getting frostbite wasn't going to make them any stronger. "Now ya oughta say somethin' real smart, Adderstrike, ya 'ave no idea what kinda position ya just put yerself in." she had no pity for nuisances.

At Brokenstream's comment about Seabreeze, the leader chewed on his words, whiskers twitching as she thought. While she did have some objections, she trusted Brokenstream's judgement, saw him as level headed as any cat, so she took his words without retaliation. "Ya 'ave my full support." she flashed him a toothy grin.
Sunheart... The tabby tilted her head at the begal bengal considerably. She wasn't sure how mothers or fathers or cats in general could name their kits such... Odd things. She was sure she'd heard a 'Tickkit' before, a veil of resentment seemed to be present. At least... That's what she felt. Anything lowly or dehumanizing for their own offspring always rubbed her the wrong way.
She gave a nonchalant shrug of her shoulders, though her expression was warm. "It suits ya." she was just happy. To have a nice, normal, non stressful, non impactful conversation. It was nice to feel somewhat normal after having her patience constantly tested.

Oh stars... Isn't this what she said not to do? Her exact words? Nicely clear and cut, direct, couldn't possibly be misinterpreted, and here Mudhaze was, acting like a kit. The leader very obviously deflated, frustration rimming her one eyed amber hue. "Mudhaze, maybe ya should stop at the medicine den and get yer ears fixed." she began, forcing herself into a more formal sit.
"Chap, I 'ave no reason ta promote ya. 'Specially cuz ya seem ta 'ave forgotten that doin' this offers ya a one way ticket ya get yer ears cuffed. Get outta my den, les ya 'ave somethin' a value ta tell me." she spoke evenly, not at all fazed by how she shot him down. It wasn't anything near what she wanted to do, which was rip him to shreds for even suggesting himself when she was hand picking.
(pspspsps squidz!! Sorry that I didn't get to stag, I'm an old lady and my back hurts from shrimping ( I LOVE EM THO!!)

Wuh- BUH- UGH! Mudhaze blinked at her several times, shell-shocked into silence as if this wasn't the most expected outcome of all time. SHE WAS REJECTING HIM! HIM??? RIVERCLAN'S COOLEST MOST AWESOME WARRIOR! Okay, WELL, maybe Owlstar was NOT awesome if she couldn't see the LEVEL of cool he was on! It towered over, like EVERYONE! Even her, since she decided to be STINKY-BORING-UNCOOL!
He could feel his fur bushing indignantly. No, save face! Cool guys didn't freak out over the UNCOOL CATS!
A pause. He screwed up his muzzle. Then, very hesitantly and very rushed, he said, "Imadeasnowcatthatkindalookedlikeyoualmostbeforeit felloverbutIcanremakeitifyouwannacomesee."
