Hazelpaw rolled her eyes as she got assigned another useless mentor. Well, Cloudspots had at least taught her to hunt, but that was it. Ugh, she hated everything!

Sunfall was stunned. His first apprentice. Wow. He almost couldn't wrap his head around it. He looked around for the 'paw, wanting to introduce himself right away.
. Violetslash . ( @Katieuwu - I hope you get the pun, lol)
The older molly huffed against the bitter cold, her warm breath creating a small plume of fog, the weather had been all over the place recently, last moon it rained non-stop for almost twelve suns, and now it had been snowing on and off that the warrior den roof now had a dent in it where snow liked to gather. On top of that, she had been spending most of her time just outside of the camp, patching up little holes in the walls which kits had been able to escape out of ever since she caught Stormkit being kitnapped by Riverclan warriors, well, ex-riverclan warriors now if Raccoonear had stuck to her word. Although she didn't like kits the warriors and queens weren't doing their jobs, meaning that recently there had been an influx of kits leaving camp and sometimes never being found. She had come back into the clearing to get something to eat, she noticed that she had been more hungry recently, however she had only been eating as much as she'd normally eat, which was a bit puzzling to her, but she just figured that she's been doing more running around recently so she was using up more energy.
As she entered the camp, for once without a dead body or a runaway kit, an apprentice swiftly caught her attention, they seemed to be.. trying to dig a tunnel in the snow..? Are they trying to be a rabbit like those moor-ons? she blinked, well, I guess Sundust can count himself another patient. she huffed again, she knew that herbs were very hard to come by in leaf-bare, plus the seeing as it was late leaf-bare she was sure that he was probably beginning to run out of them, so against her wanting to she better stop this apprentice before they catch some sort of illness. She padded over to the young cat swiftly, her paws moving effortlessly through the snow, "Kid," she meowed sharply, her eyes narrowed slightly, "you might want to stop giving yourself a self induced cold, Sundust can't afford to waste herbs on mouse-brained apprentices." she was unsure of why the apprentice decided that digging a tunnel was even slightly a good idea, but so help starclan if they fall ill out of their own stupidity and Sundust runs out of the herbs he needs to treat them.
His fur resonated to Sparrowstar's aura like needles as he cast his eyes toward her tan and cream body. As he struggled, he stutter-spoke as best he could, his mouth trembling. He spoke with a strained, vocal cord-cracking regret. "He died, my apprentice, h-h-he died. I tried to save him, he was there, why did he escape from camp, he could've been alive, I-I was t-t-to late. My poor, poor apprentice, I could have saved you in time, it's all my fault, all my fault."" He whimpered out, shaking violently. His mental state has already deteriorated, and he fears that he is currently incapable of performing even basic tasks. Do his tasks to a certain extent. Yes, every cat has to deal with death at some point in their lives. At least once or twice. However, his death came too quickly; did Starclan not wish for him to rest? It would be preferable to wait two months rather than just a moment. Each moment, his heart was numbing and breaking. It was too disturbing to even think of anyone else that may come across the scent of death. His paws went numb as he shivered. Each breakdown he would have in front of his family would harden his heart even more. He pondered how long it would be before the rusty aroma of death that remained in the air totally numbed him.
In terms of his responsibilities, he would have to act quickly. His clanmates don't need a deputy who is unable of performing his job properly. He shifted his bloodshot gaze to Sparrowstar. Rasping, albeit his mental state didn't seem to be in good shape. He was still in the correct frame of mind to address the issues that his skilled mind could handle. "I-I'll need someone to take care of patrols for a bit.. just someone. I-I just need a little break.." He pondered for a long time to come up with someone who could handle the bare minimum of his responsibilities. "M-My daughter... erm.. Flameheart would be able to. She's quite capable of doing a-lot of things.." He felt as though his heart was healing just by uttering it. He was still surrounded by family, but were they offering him any consolation? Did he deserve the emotional support? Was there an explanation for the enormous amount of death that had swollen his heart? Truly, he didn't give a damn. Simply, he sought a place to hide out. Someplace very, very far away, where no one can see.
The moments where Sparrowstar mulled over his request was like swimming in sap. They seemed to stretch on for moons. But, of course, they weren’t, and soon he had his answer. Relief rushed over him like a flood. His usual bright smile returned to his face. He wouldn’t have to sit through another lesson like his first one! The thought of Glowkit and Cherrykit’s faces still broke his heart, but he was glad to see his class adapt. And to see how willing his leader was to helping him with it. Maybe it had been silly to think Sparrowstar wouldn’t agree with him. After all she was the leader. It was her job to take care of her clanmates. It all seemed so foolish now. He tried to keep his professional air, but his simple excitement at having his first “meeting” with Sparrowstar be a success was making that difficult. Still he settled for a whisker twist of delight. “No that’s all I had to say. Thank you.” With a dip of his head he turned and left her den.
Sorreldust had chosen not to come directly beneath the Thunderwillow, instead sitting off to the side to listen to her leader undisturbed, not believing there'd be any need for her to be nearer to the tree..... this was swiftly disproven as Sparrowstar began re-assigning apprentices, one even coming to her.
Her eyes had been closed and she'd been sitting, half hunched, but hearing that she had a new apprentice, she straightened up slowly and looking up the tree before lowering her gaze to her crowded Clanmates. Carefully, she stood up and made her way to the crowd, looking for her new apprentice.
She looked for Pebblepaw and upon spotting her, she approached. "Hello Pebblepaw. Sorreldust. Since I'm your mentor, I want to know where you stand with training, so we're on the same page."
Less confusing to communicate through this, especially as she was pretty sure Pebblepaw was not a new apprentice and could have possibly received some sort of training.
[ @Poprock ]
Pebblepaw wrinkled her nose at the warrior, scrutinizing her with her yellow gaze. She's just like Shallowshudder or... uh... whatever their name was. Boring and much too serious. Blegh! The little gremlin was not pleased, but Sorreldust was her only ticket out of camp.
"I've never had any sort of training ever! I've been stuck in camp like a lil baby." She whined, stomping her white paws for dramatic effect. Seriously! Some apprentices got taken out right away, and here she was still hanging around camp almost a moon later! "I do know some cool twicks though! I can catch my tail and uhhh.... OH! I've been working on my pawstand if you wanna see that!" Without waiting for an answer, Pebblepaw tried to balance on only her front paws- launching her two back paws high into the air. Unfortunately, she launched them a little too hard and ended up flopping onto the ground with an oof. Well... it was still a work in progress.
@Shade.
Echosong hadn't been paying much attention to this meeting. Her thoughts were muddled and messy, too caught up in worry and grief. It wasn't usual for the older warrior to be so caught up in her thoughts and she cursed herself for being so out of it at a clan meeting. So out of it in fact, she nearly missed her next assignment. An evaluation of the former medicine cat Roseraven. Oh.
The last time she had really seen Roseraven was... the incident. Sure she'd seen the bob tailed molly here and there around camp; but Echosong had tried not to keep her gaze fixed on her for longer than a moment. The memory of the former medicine cat soaked in the blood of a mother and her kits was... too much. Even now the striped molly found herself needing a moment to prevent tears from falling. It was just too similar to--
Her paws began padding towards Roseraven before her mind fully processed what was happening. It wasn't until she was standing in front of the younger warrior with a friendly head nod that she snapped out of her thoughts.
"What skill do you want to brush up on first?" There was no need for a lot of pleasantries. She was sure that both of them would rather spend their time brooding over whatever was bothering them then doing apprentice training. Especially when Roseraven was an adult. Still, I'll treat her with respect, no matter how badly I want to cry every time I see her.
Riversplash sighed, "I was hunting on my own, when I fell into a river. I was able to recover within a few days..."
Frowning slightly as the tom gave his explanation, Sparrowstar narrowed her eyes at him as she took in the information.
"The only river close to us is on Riverclan's territory; any flowing water within our forest is no more than light flowing streams... Were you beyond our borders Riversplash?" she questioned, taking a step towards him as she spoke. "Explain yourself. Thoroughly."
Swiftheart panted as she arrived at camp, limping, and she had a scratch down her side, and had a few small scratches her and there. "Sparrow...Star" She meowed.
Brown ears perked up as a... mildly familiar(?) voice broke through the relative quiet that permeated the clearing. Squinting at the slightly injured cat that limped their way into camp, it took the tan molly a solid few seconds to place their face.
"Swiftheart!" she finally called out, padding up to the molly with a stern look in her eyes. "You have been gone for going on 6 moons now; where in the stars have you been?"
The heavily pregnant queen was soon approached by Sparrowstar. She remembered the tabby from seeing her at the Gathering, and was cultured enough to know that the leader was relatively new at the job. "Yes... it's nice to meet you." Should she return the favor? No. That would just sound stupid.
Dovefluff smiled slightly at the mention of Sootfur, the kind tom who had brought her this far, but then proceeded to shake her head at the next question. "Oh... definitely not. He couldn't care less about where I am." That was originally planned as a joke, but then she realized how depressing that was and had to forcefully keep her face from falling into any remotely sad expression.
"It sounds like Sootfur already um... told you about my situation.... but yes, I want my kits to grow up in a safe place, and not grow into cats that are unaffected by... by violence. They deserve to stay innocent." If the leader had been more unwelcoming and hostile, Dovefluff would have offered up her alternate suggestion- to just let her kits join, then have her leave once they were born. Hopefully it wouldn't come to that.
Well... It certainly seemed that this queen was far deifferent than the other members of Shadowclan that Sparrowstar had interacted with. It was unsurprising that such a cat would wish to distance themselves from Dawnstar and her choice of warrior-upbringing.
Humming in agreement, the tan molly flicked her tail towards the interior of Thunderclan's camp.
"While I cannot promise a life bereft of violence (we are still warriors after all), I am certainly of the mind that cats should not grow up to only pursue that in their lives. You and your future kits are welcome to stay in Thunderclan, however I will not tolerate you flip-flopping on this decision."
"If you go back to Shadowclan, or to any other clan, I will treat that decision as final. I need my clanmates to be committed to their home. Flameheart will show you to the nursery, but feel free to come to myself or any of my shields if you need anything further."

I- I'm not the best hunter and I can't really fight, but I'm a fast learner. For a bit of help I would... devote myself to your group. ThunderClan, was it?"
A glimmer of respect flickered across the tan molly's eyes as she watched the young tom take a more determined stance as he faced her. There was potential there... Most certainly.
"Well then Snake," she stated, tone ever so slightly lighter as she flicked her tail towards the direction of camp. "We shall see if your words of devotion are true. You will be welcomed into Thunderclan as Snakepaw and I shall assign you a mentor to teach you the way of our clan at our next clan meeting. If anyone questions your being within our camp, do not hesitate to inform them of my decision."
