oh now she was fuming they were treating her like a shadow clan cat for goodness sake she wasn’t going to give up this easily oh no. She listened to what Redsurge said not caring about his tone at all. She raised her head high. “ first of all Troutclaw your weak for giving up so easily.. and second of all” her tail lashed out and her pelt fluffed up. “You like trouble don’t you Redsurge? Can’t keep your nose outta others cats business, we were born with claws why not use them.” oh hell she knew she was gonna be in so much trouble for and she wouldn’t mind getting exiled damn she didn’t care about this clan at all! “I’m not afraid of you and it’s words what are threatening words gonna do huh?” she hissed. “Owlstar nevered helped me before why would she care about me now huh?!”

Troutclaw let out a slow, deep sigh, his shoulders stiffening as Redsurge’s words hit him. He was no stranger to a scolding, but something about the way she spoke, so assertive and condescending, made his fur bristle. The way she talked to him was starting to feel like she was the one in charge. His tail lashed in annoyance, but he held his tongue. For now.

"I hear you," he said, his voice quieter than usual, trying to keep a semblance of composure. He didn’t want to cause any more drama, especially with Rowanmane standing by and watching. He glanced briefly at Swallowpaw, unsure whether to feel more sorry for the apprentice or himself. His eyes darted back to Redsurge, and despite trying to mask it, there was a flicker of a glare in his amber gaze.

His muscles coiled as if he was ready to snap, but he controlled himself. Instead, he backed away, lowering his gaze and giving a small nod, though inwardly, his thoughts were far from calm. Who does she think she is? She’s a warrior, not my boss. Why does she get to tell me what to do?

As he took a step back, Troutclaw muttered under his breath, just loud enough for Redsurge to hear, "I'll keep my distance... But this whole thing’s ridiculous." He didn’t look directly at her, his words tinged with frustration. It wasn’t like he was afraid of her; he wasn’t. He just didn’t like being bossed around, especially by someone who wasn't in charge.

Swallowpaw was trying to rile Redsurge up. She knew she was, and, great StarClan above, it was working.

The bristling of Redsurge’s neck and shoulder fur was enough to give the apprentice the impression that she had, in fact, pissed the braided tabby off. Normally, Ospreybite - Redsurge’s mother - was the only cat able to anger her.

Redsurge glared daggers at Swallowpaw, unfolded ear lying flat against her head. “I'm looking for trouble?” She scoffed, her voice dangerously calm as she spoke to the apprentice. “If there is even one cat looking for trouble right at this very moment, Swallowpaw, that cat is you.”

“Yeah, we have claws; and yes, we use them. We use them whenever we hunt; we use them whenever we fight. But the one thing we do not do with our claws is use them on another Clanmate,” The warrior took a step closer to the apprentice, looming over her. “You don’t have to be scared of me, Swallowpaw. I never said you had to be. And Owlstar has never helped you because you’ve never given her a reason to; of course she cares about you! She cares for the entire Clan, and that includes you.” Redsurge couldn’t believe that Swallowpaw was picking a fight. A dangerous one, at that.

Her eyes flicked over to Troutclaw. “Oh? So you think that you acting in inappropriate ways towards an apprentice isn’t worthy of being reported?” She commented, tipping her head to the side ever so slightly. “Troutclaw, you were teasing and winking at a cat significantly younger than you. Don’t you think that’s a little - a lot - overboard? Surely you must have known what you were doing, because I’m sure as hell that you did. You’ve given me no reason to believe that you didn’t know.”

Her eyes flicked to Rowanmane. “Fetch Owlstar. Brokenstream. Some cat who is able to give out proper punishments to these two irritable fish-brains who have no common sense whatsoever.”

[ just a couple of notes! One - Redsurge’s feelings do not reflect my own. Two - if Redsurge is angered further, she will likely become dangerous and will go off if not calmed down by my next post with her. ]

Minnowtail heard ruckus at the other side of camp. He turned to look who it was and saw the Rowanemane, Redsurge, a warrior, and a apprentice. Wait. That is his apprentice! What has she gotten into now? Minnowtail bounded over to the group. What has my apprentice done now? He said, glaring at Swallowpaw.

how she was happy she got under her pelt hoe she wanted to attack this cat so badly but knew she would be shredded in seconds. Swallowpaw narrowed her eyes even more growling and laughing at the same time.”everyone loves causing trouble here and there” she looked at the warrior and cocked and eyebrow. “First of all you don’t control me or my claws as of that matter.” she dug her claws so deep in the ground that they crack the earth itself it felt like. “No cat could care about that many others god I don’t even c-“ she stopped herself almost about to spill what actually bugs her inside loneliness…. Nobody would ever know and she won’t they never will. Her eyes sparkled with sadness for barely a millisecond. He turned towards his mentor “minniowtail” she ducked her head the one cat she actually cared about.

Troutclaw’s fur prickled as Redsurge’s words sunk in, each one feeling like a lash against his pride. He could feel his temper rising, the sharp sting of her accusations piercing through him. She was right, of course. He knew he’d been acting inappropriately, but he didn’t need a warrior like her lecturing him. His tail flicked uneasily behind him as Redsurge loomed closer to Swallowpaw, her presence making the air feel charged and uncomfortable.

"Alright, alright," he muttered, trying to regain his composure. He backed away, slowly at first, giving Redsurge a glance that was equal parts frustration and defiance. His amber eyes narrowed, but he didn't want to escalate things further. Not with the tension already high.

"I'm not scared of you, Redsurge," he snapped, though there was an edge of uncertainty in his voice. He turned his back to her, making his way a little further back. "But fine. You win. I’ll back off. I’m not here to cause more trouble," he said, his words coming out clipped.

He didn’t want to feel like he was being cornered, not by Redsurge, not by any cat. But he knew that if he didn’t back off now, things were going to get a lot worse. The tension in the clearing was thick, and Troutclaw could feel the weight of it pressing on his chest. "I get it, okay? Just... let’s all cool down."

His last words were barely above a mutter, the flicker of annoyance still in his expression. He couldn’t stand being called out like this, but he wasn't going to fight back. Not when it was clear that Redsurge, despite being just a warrior, wasn’t backing down.

Yea..no...clearly the situation wasn't gonna de-escalate itself anytime soon. Both Shallowpaw and Troutclaw were clearly in the wrong. Shallowpaw for acting immature and Troutclaw for acting outright weird. And now Shallowpaw's mentor was here. This started out as an arguement. Why were some cats so good at making things so wrong. And Sunsetgleam wasn't even sure what to say. It felt like them being here isn't helping anyone. They were too kind to properly think of words to say, and they knew Redsurge have already said everything they could've possibly said "Shallowpaw, I understand you're mad but that doesn't excuse your behaviors; and Redsurge is right, Owlstar does care for you and I'm sure the rest of us do as well" they tried to keep their voice calm and friendly, not trying to sound accusing. But they wanted to get their words across, even for a little bit before turning to adress everyone "How about we just..wait for Owlstar to arrive and save our words for later?"

Troutclaw’s gaze flicked between Sunsetgleam, Redsurge, and Swallowpaw, irritation still simmering beneath the surface. He didn’t like being lectured, especially by a younger cat like Swallowpaw, or by someone who had no real authority over him. His claws flexed in the dirt as he ground his teeth, but he wasn’t ready to escalate things further. He was too proud to apologize outright, but there was something in Sunsetgleam's words that made him pause.

With a heavy sigh, Troutclaw slowly straightened up, his posture stiff but not quite defiant anymore. “Fine,” he muttered, his voice barely above a growl. “We’ll wait for Owlstar.” He cast a quick glance toward Redsurge, his frustration barely contained. “But don’t think I need anyone telling me how to handle my business.” He gritted his teeth as he stepped back, trying to ignore the sting of the situation.

He still felt annoyed, but the reality of the situation was sinking in. It was better to wait for Owlstar to sort this out than continue to fight in front of the others.
