mosskit padded over to berrykit and puffed his chest out "well! the shadow cat is defeated! but look it bit you! i gotta heal you!" he meowed with a skip in his voice. he picked up moss and pressed it on berrykit's leg and then sat down and raised a paw "since you protected the medicine cat den and defeated the shadow cat i now name you a full medicine cat!" he meowed trying to sound big. "your name is now berryheart!" he then giggled "for i mossheart will be a old old cat now so you must go on in my name!" he then flopped on his side and stuck his tongue out "i am now a old old cat and i must go to starclan!" he then closed his eyes and wiggled and then got up "i am now a star cat! any words for me berryheart?" he liked this game more then fighting. he decided.

"Umm..." Berrykit/Berryheart struggled to remember the words cats used when a cat died, then they cam to her. "May Starclan light your path!"

"thank you!" he then wiggled a little and jumped into his nest and then came out "hehe, then berryheart became the besties medicine cat ever!" he purred as he plopped next to berrykit, his eyes shining with happiness, he yawned, confused why he was sleepy right now. "we can play another game, but im sleepy." he mewed in a sleepy tone.

Orangetwist smiled. "That's a nice name!" she purred. She'd never seen an otter, but she supposed they must be cute. "What do you think of the news? About the hawk...?" she asked, turning her head to face the entrance to the camp. "I'm sure they'll find Bumblekit," she said, reassuring herself just as much as Otterflight as she readjusted herself to face him again.

Sweat started sliding down Otterflight's face. Will the kit be alright? I hope so...but hawks are scary. Otterflight quickly turned to Orangetwist, remembering that she had just spoken. An explosion of stutters escaped his mouth, but he couldn't form any words.

She couldn't help but giggle when Otterflight began to stammer uncontrollably. She wasn't angry that he hadn't been listening -- she often got dragged into her own thoughts too -- so she said again, just in case he hadn't heard, "I'm sure they'll find the kit!" Somehow, repeating it made her begin to believe it too. There was definitely a lot more enthusiasm and confidence behind the statement this time, so she was a little glad Otterflight had (hopefully) only heard this one.

Her words penetrated the waterfall of fearful thoughts drowning out all noise, and Otterflight looked up at her.
"Y-yeah, I'm s-sure they w-w-will," he stammered, forcing a smile.

Orangetwist knew how to spot a forced smile -- mostly thanks to Ruecall -- and could clearly tell that Otterflight's expression was anything but natural. She, however, didn't want to make him feel uncomfortable or more upset than he already obviously was, so she didn't mention it. She also refused to mention the tone he used -- one that suggested he was very unsure of himself -- for most of the same reasons. "That's the spirit!" Orangetwist meowed, loading even more energy and enthusiasm into her words in hopes that maybe optimism was contagious and he would catch a very bad case of it.

Otterflight couldn't help but laugh at Orangetwist's seemingly endless enthusiasm. Then he couldn't stop. He laughed until he could hardly breathe, coughing and wheezing. And yet he still laughed, unused to feeling so optimistic.
Otterflight looked up at Orangetwist, flicking a tear from his eye. "Ahem. Sorry about that. You're just...well it's hard not to smile."
