Woah, hey, a new Keeper? This wasn't something she was expecting to hear, but Roosterflame had always been solid, at least, as far as Bumblebreak could recall. She craned her neck to find the white and orange tom and shoot him a congratulatory grin. After the meeting she'd have to find him again to talk.
The next announcement had her ears swiveling forward in surprise. A... Head Keeper? Flameheart? She would be lying if it didn't shoot a brief pang of envy through her heart but she shoved it away as quickly as it came. Flameheart was young, sure, but she was hardy, reliable, strong... of course she was a good fit for a role like this. Again Bumblebreak swiveled to find the other warrior in the crowd. She was sitting by Sootfur, so Bumblebreak wouldn't bother her, but she still flashed her the same broad grin she'd sent Roosterflame just moments earlier.

The meeting continued on, and with it his and his sisters names were called. Sitting up a bright straighter, the young tom forgot all about his previous misgivings. Excitement glowed in his eyes as his little paws tapped the ground below.
And just like that, he was Sandpaw.
The name felt weird on his tongue, but he turned to smile at Mama who had showed up just before. He leaned against her, smiling up wide at her and then at his sister. "We're 'paws now, Russ!" In a delightful show he aimed to boop her nose with his own, squeaks coming from him. It wasn't done yet though, they still had to be assigned mentors!
Turning back to Thrushstar Sandpaw awaited eagerly to see who would be teaching him. He didn't know a lot of the warriors yet, but hopefully soon that would change. The warriors name rolled off of his leaders tongue, and in a moment the newly named apprentice froze. Sootfur?? Ears drawing back, he glanced around for the warrior. Was this... some sort of joke? An uncomfortable feeling settled in the pit of his stomach as his gaze finally found the warrior. Just as he was about to head over his perked ears caught one more announcement; his sister was to be the leaders' apprentice.
"Oh wow!" Turning from his search Sandpaw brought his wide pale green eyes onto Russetpaw. Admiration shown clearly in them, dancing from paw to paw. "Congratulations Russ!" That had to be special, right? Being named as the leaders' apprentice? A purr rumbled from him as he lifted a paw and ruffled her head lightly. "You gotta tell me all about it, okay? Maybe we can train together??" Hopefully they could.
Giving a final nod, Sandpaw then turned back to where Sootfur was. He was still next to that scary orange cat, but... Sandpaw was afraid what would happen if he didn't go up to greet him. Slinking over carefully, the newly named 'paw made it a point to not look at the orange cat beside his new mentor and instead smiled hesitently. "Hi Sootfur..." His voice was soft, eyes just barely lifted to meet the older toms. Swallowing, he shifted from paw to paw before finally... "I'm sorry I wasn't in for the rest of your class. I- I don't even know what happened. I wanted to stay in it, but..." What other explanation could he give when he didn't even know why?
Hanging his head and scuffing his paws against the dirt, Sandpaw let out a defeated sigh before looking back up to his new mentor. "I promise I'll do my best in training though! I'll always listen and... and I'll be the best warrior ever!"
Well, she hadn't expected that! Having lost her apprentices, Poppypaw and Littlepaw, Flameheart was quite glad to receive another one. This time, it was none other than the daughter of her former temporary mentor, Mapleleaf. Well, I'll do my best to teach your daughter, just as you had taught me. Stepping forward to greet the seemingly spoiled apprentice, the young Keeper dipped her head as a sign of respect to her young apprentice and touched noses.
"Congratulations on becoming an apprentice, I'll be sure to share as many stories as possible with you so that you can share them with any friends you make." she smiled and angled her head to Sootfur. "Come on, let's sit down and watch the rest of the meeting."
Russetpaw is Thrushstar's apprentice? Well... he hadn't taken an apprentice since Weaselpaw... StarClan guide them both."Congratulations, Sandpaw. Sootfur's a good warrior, I'm sure he'll teach you to the best of his ability." she nodded at the sand-colored tom and sat down, curling her tail over her paws.
Without a care in the world, Crowpaw stalked into the camp and joined the crowd of cats, though he stuck near the back. His conversation with Pondwhisker brought a new perspective to his life. One he would never mind having. At least one cat in my life loves me. he huffed and gave himself a quick lick on his belly fur as he listened to all that was going on. Russetpaw is Thrushfur's apprentice? Well- wait, I guess he'd be... Thrushstar, now. Ugh... whatever.
He huffed and looked through the crowd at his mentor and noticed an apprentice next to him. Oh, lovely... I get to share my mentor with some young, innocent, trauma-free apprentice. Well... I hope Sootfur can handle the responsibility. And teach properly.
Sootfur's eyes widened in surprise as both Flameheart and he were given new apprentices. Stars, will I ever manage two?! He thought with concern, turning just briefly to glance at the ever-grumpy-looking Crowpaw from the other side of the crowd. No, I need to focus. This was Sandpaw's great day, the little tom whom he'd played not much time before with great joy and simplicity. Sootfur was determined to do his best with this apprentice as well.
The lithe, muscular gray tabby sneaked out of the cats' crowd to greet his new apprentice. He felt sorry when he realized how worried and uneasy the young tom looked; maybe he doesn't like being at the center of attention? However, Sootfur maintained a friendly and welcoming smile as he approached him and touched noses with him. "Sandpaw. Please, don't apologize. I know you must have had your reasons if you are now here with your new name." He replied warmly with calm at the agitated tone of Sandpaw. "I am honored to be your mentor, and I know you will do your best to become a great warrior. This is a mutual promise; I will also give all myself to help you reach that point."
A wider, more natural smile drew on his face as his mate approached with her new apprentice to congratulate herself. Sootfur nuzzled her affectionately, then glanced at Honeypaw beside her. "Congratulations you too, Honeypaw. I swear you'll never regret being assigned to Flameheart. She's the best warrior in our clan!" He exclaimed with sincere liveliness, blinking jokingly at the orange and white Maine coon tabby.

As Thrushstar kept on speaking, something even surprising was announced. And it wasn't Thunderclan's new deputy.
Sootfur turned to watch Flameheart with a mixture of astonishment and admiration, silver eyes shining brightly in pride for his mate. "Oh, Flameheat... Head Keeper! Congratulations, you deserved it so much!" He then leaped gently on her and licked fiercely her cheeks, hoping she knew how much happiness was gushing from him at that moment.
You are truly incredible... You are the Flame that keeps the Thunder together.
Stoneskull closed his eyes and let out a small sigh. Again, he hadn't been chosen for anything. Whatever.
The grey tom with black skull markings on his face let out a soft grunt as he sat. "My back is killing me." he groaned to himself.
