With that, Kestrelstar nodded. He took a seat on the island, wrapping his tail across his paws. "It will consist of everything we've learned. You'll need to catch two pieces of prey from the water, and one piece of prey from the land," he explained, covering the hunting portion. "Once you've done so, we'll launch straight into the battle portion, which will include both water and land fighting." Standing again, the leader started to pad away. "I'll be here if you need me, but you're on your own for the hunting. Once you're done, meet me back here on the island," he informed Nightpaw before his disappeared into the surrounding reeds.

Nightpaw nodded, and walked off. She came to the water. She put her paw over the water. She waited for a fish to come. SHe saw a silver figure. She scooped it out. She then slashed it, to kill it. She dug a hole and buried It. She waited again, soon enough, and other fish came. She Missed this one. She swore under her breath and saw another. “THis place if flooding with fish today.” She whispered, catching this fish. “Yes!”

From where the reeds concealed him, Kestrelstar watched as his apprentice was able to snag two of the three fish out of the river. Next would be the land hunting assessment, in which she'd have to venture off of the island. He readied his muscles to follow her.

She smiled, burying her other fish. She then looked around for other prey. “A frog.” She said. She crouched, stalking forward. Then she Got ready to pounce, so she grabbed it a little forward, clawing it’s head. “Ooohh...” She said. “That’s... gruesome.”

The land had seemingly been a piece of cake - not that Kestrelstar expected any less from his own apprentice. While Nightpaw had been distracted by catching the frog, the leader slunk around so that he was off to her side. Now it was time to test her senses, to see how on alert she was. With tensions as high as they were, all of RiverClan would need to be on the look out.

Without a word Kestrelstar leaped from the bushes, darting from the reeds. His target was her shoulder, claws outstretched in an attempt to grab ahold and lock himself to her. If he succeeded, he'd be able to bring up his hind lets to bat them against her side.

Nightpaw was sure taken by surprise. She saw him coming forward. She leaped out of the way and ran in circles to confuse him. DUst came up in a small tornado.

Well that just seemed to be a signature move for Nightpaw, and part of Kestrelstar wished that she would use a move that wasn’t predictable. ”You’re not going to have time to do that in a real battle,” he muttered under his breath, already taking points off. The dust that came up he was used to now after having expected it, and he again relied on his ears and feeling the earth under paw to determine where Nightpaw would be.

Seizing an opportunity not a moment or two later, Kestrelstar darted out in an attempt to ram his head into Nightpaw’s side to send her sprawling. If it landed, he would then attempt to side step around her and lift himself up, extended paws aiming for her backside to pin her down.

Nightpaw saw him examining the ground. She saw him dart off somewhere, she leaped out of the way, and charged, ready to knock him into the water.

Now that was smart. Kestrelstar barely had time to dodge out of the way as he felt Nightpaw's head collide with his side, sending him sprawling into the nearby streambed. If he were an opposing Clan, the shock of the cold would've given Nightpaw the advantage to finish him off - and that was exactly what a RiverClan warrior needed to have. "That was excellent," he praised as he hauled himself out of the water, shaking his pelt and sending water droplets flying.

"Next up is swimming endurance. I know we've had a few swimming lessons," Kestrelstar continued, only now having caught his breath, "so this is your chance to showcase how well you can." Gesturing with the water that surrounded the training island, he continued, "I'd like to see how fast you can swim around this island. Watch out for the rocks, and don't get too close to the main river, as it leads to a waterfall."

“Alright.” She leaped into the water, she moved her legs back and fourth. She swam to the middle of the island. “Huff... huff...” she swam around it, and got back to kestrelstar, she looked to him with a weak smile.

Well she didn't drown which was good, and the swimming was getting better. Kestrelstar gave a nod of his head to Nightpaw. "Good, now go around once more time," he instructed, taking a seat to watch her. This was where the endurance would kick in.
