Re: The Shadowledge
And so Dawnstar began to speak, and soon the new deputy was appointed. Cinderblaze. Badgerpaw tilted her head a little, not surprised but more curious. She didn't know the cat who had been promoted, but that wasn't because they weren't known enough, hadn't done enough or been around enough. Badgerpaw knew few cats, and it didn't mean this cat couldn't become a good deputy. Then her leader continued with the new ranks, and Badgerpaw could feel herself leaning forward, partly in suspense, partly to hear better. And she found herself liking what she heard. It was pretty well-thought-out, and these cats would no doubt be good for the clan. The part about apprentice training was one she especially liked since she was looking to get far in her training, so this would be useful if Badgerscar ever failed in that task.
Those were her thoughts all the way until Dawnstar called out the new cats who would be receiving this rank. Vixensnarl was the first name called up. Reasonable, Dawnstar would trust her kin. The next name called up was... Badgerscar? The black and white apprentice blinked a little, surprised this time. She saw the reasoning behind it, and it was all in all very good for Badgerpaw, since this meant her mentor would hopefully make sure to be extra good and active with her training. Brackenfire was next, another kin of Dawnstar's but she was sure these cats would still be good. Warblermoon was a cat she didn't know. But she frowned a little at Softpelt's name. Softpelt? She knew a name didn't always tell enough about a cat, but the idea of having someone named Softpelt in Shadowclan's elite sounded a bit off. Last was Cougarivy, who Badgerpaw also didn't know, but they were named as the Enforcers' commander.
[ @ starry ]
Well, there were some cats she needed to congratulate on their new ranks. First was the newly named deputy, Cinderblaze was their name. Badgerpaw didn't know them, but she followed her clan mates' gazes to find the grey tom. She rose and weaved her way through the crowd of cats until she found them. "Congratulations." She mewed in a clam voice, low and directed only at the deputy. "I look forward to having a reasonable deputy." So hopefully this one would turn out better.
[ @ Spotty ]
Next was her mentor, who was now promoted to an Enforcer. She had to admit the name was pretty cool though, and she was overall happy that he had gotten the new rank. Anyone who knew Badgerpaw at all would be aware that she took her training with utmost importance, and the fact that her mentor would now be forced to be a good mentor was only good for her. She dipped her head to her mentor as she found his way over to him. "I know we have only known each other for a very short period of time, but I offer my congratulations on your promotion." It was a bit of longer congratulation, but while it was a maybe a lesser, this was also her mentor, and not some random cat she hadn't even known before this.
[ @ WillowBlows12 & @ Atticus ]
Those two seemed to be the only ones she would need to congratulate on their new ranks, though as she sat back she could hear something else. A warrior whining about not getting the rank. Badgerpaw could hear one of the newly promoted Enforcers talking to them, but for some reason, the dumb warrior felt the need to start acting up again. Badgerpaw sighed. It was always a little infuriation when cats made a mess and bothered everyone else, but the fact that it was a warrior was even more so. "You didn't consider the fact that the rason you weren't placed in a position of a higher power, and are being treated as a kit, is because you keep acting like one?" She pointed out to the warrior, not with snark or sneer, she wasn't looking to stir up more trouble, simply to make the warrior maybe realize how dumb they were being, or at least shut up. "These things aren't something Dawnstar just made up just this morning, and she has considered these cats well I trust. If you're complaining about the fact that three of the new ranks are her kin you're forgetting the fact that they aren't that by chance. They have shown some kind of worth, and that they are loyal, so it's only reasonable they'd be considered for this rank as well. And lastly; even you should realize that complaining and whining will not get you the rank any faster. Prove your worth and loyalty, show that you actually deserve the rank are you will have a much better chance than trying to complain your way to it." It was very simple to understand it Badgerpaw's opinion, and the fact that it went over the head of a full-fledged warrior bothered her more than it maybe should. Anyway, she had said what she needed to and sat down to listen to the rest of the meeting.

Re: The Shadowledge
Fiercefire was happy Brackenfire had become an enforcer. Though he wanted the role, he did little in the event and always put off patrols, so he didn't really deserve it.
As for Cinderblaze for deputy, the tom didn't really know him, but assumed Dawnstar knew what she was doing when making him deputy. "Cinderblaze! Cinderblaze!" He chanted

Snakebite felt a bit left out, practically everyone on his patrol got a rank except for him, but he knew Dawnstar had her reasons

Re: The Shadowledge
Cinderblaze looked at the leader with slight curiousity as she said she was going to announce a deputy. True, they'd been waiting for a while. Wait... what?! He choked down shock as his name was spoken. Him? Deputy? He had been hoping for the enforcer role, but this was unexpected. A respectful smile formed on his maw as he took a step forward, dipping his head to Dawnstar. He would do his best to not slack off like Shadestorm had done so ungracefully. Pride and shock appeared to gleam in his amber eyes. "Thank you, Dawnstar. I promise to serve ShadowClan well, and I thank you for this opportunity." His words were to the point, but still determined.
"I won't let this clan down like others have before." With a flick of his tail, he stepped back, listening to Dawnstar's next words. The enforcers were Vixensnarl, Brackenfire, Badgerscar, Warblermoon, Softpelt and Cougarivy... they all seemed worthy of the role to him, especially Cougarivy. She had been a great teammate, able to take on leadership and form plans. Oh, and the she-cat was even the enforcers' commander.
@ Ravensong
Cinderblaze had heard Cougarivy chanting his name, and made his way over to her with a grin on his maw. "Well, I thank you for chanting my name like that," he started. "It was great to have you on the team. By the way, congrats on being the enforcers' commander. I think Dawnstar made the right choice." He offered her a nod, then turned towards Badgerpaw as he heard the apprentices' voice. Ooh, personal congratulations!
@ Morning!
Badgerpaw appeared to be sensible, at least. Cinderblaze's whiskers twitched and he nodded. "Thank you," he replied smoothly. "I mean, I think I'm reasonable enough." Chuckling slightly, he attempted to (gently) touch her ear with his fluffy tail. "You seem pretty reasonable, too. Let me know if you ever need training, I'd be happy to help." If he recalled correctly, she was Badgerscar's apprentice. Seemed as though he'd been training her well. From their short interaction he deemed Badgerpaw as reasonable too. Good to know that ShadowClan actually has some apprentices that are making some effort.
He couldn't help but cast a glance at the drama that was going on. Did Poisonpetal not understand that she was minimizing her chances to be chosen in the future? Cinderblaze rolled his eyes, deciding not to parttake. Warblermoon and Badgerpaw already had it in check, and he wasn't about to waste his time talking sense into a whiny kit. He redirected his attention to the leader, satisfied with her announcement. He trusted her judgement, and it was already showing that Warblermoon was a worthy enforcer. Taking initiative was probably important for this new role, he guessed, and he would send a few enforcers onto patrols just so that they got reported. Of course he was ready to punish anyone, but he preferred completed patrols. He did notice Sparkpaw's smile towards him, and gave her a nod of gratitude.

Re: The Shadowledge
Orchidmoon merely twitched an ear as Cinderblaze was announced as deputy. A bit of a surprising choice in her opinion, but he would make a fine deputy. Any deputy would have been better than Shadestorm, as long as they didn't laze around like he did. "Cinderblaze! Cinderblaze!" Despite her neutral opinions about the deputy, she supposed he deserved some form of congratulations, if only for his accomplishment of impressing Dawnstar.
Now here was the part Orchidmoon was waiting for. The molly straightened as Dawnstar began listing names. Yes, that made sense; wait, him?; mhmm; I suppose- wait. Hmm. It seemed, contrary to the warrior's expectations, her name had not been called. How.. interesting. The she-cat would be lying if she said she didn't feel a small twinge of jealousy as she watched all the new enforcers puff out their chests, but she would remain composed. Maybe she'd take it out on a rat later.
But wait. As Orchidmoon's viridescent eyes returned to the leader, Dawnstar was glancing around at cats, specific cats. Dawnstar glanced at her. Ah, so she had been considered, or something similar. She wasn't sure what it meant, but she wouldn't dwell on it too long. A look could mean a thousand things. Regardless, Orchidmoon would continue to act with dignity.
The chocolate molly rose to her paws, seeking out a particular brown tabby in the crowd. "Vixensnarl. Congratulations on your accomplishment; you have grown to be an impressive warrior. I hope you continue to impress me." Orchidmoon was genuinely pleased with how her apprentice had turned out; it reflected well on her abilities as a mentor. It gave the she-cat hope for her new apprentice.
[hope you don't mind Orchidmoon popping over!]

Re: The Shadowledge
"Ooo, one-on-one frog hunting with Dawnstar--you're practically deputy," Hornetpaw joked, cracking a grin at Dustpaw's flawlessly sardonic tone. They might as well have been born in the same litter, the new apprentice's sense of humor meshed so well with the boys'. Her brand of sass boasted that Dustpaw would be able to dish as much as she could take--no backing down or crocodile tears from this saucy molly. "Seriously though, the leader wouldn't waste her time on just anybody like that. You must have a special something."
Centipedepaw nodded once in agreement, signing special by lifting one paw and then tapping it with the other, lifting both as if they were two birds flying together. Then he brought his dominant forepaw to tap at Dustpaw's chest--right above their heart--and winked. He continued signing while the smaller cat watched with those deep green eyes, Hornetpaw translating aloud.
"We know you just started training, there's no way we'd hurt you on purpose. Don't worry. We're still learning a lot ourselves… You know, Hornetpaw himself is--shut up Centipede, I am NOT as useless as a kittypet!"
Centipedepaw threw his head back in honking laughter while his brother spat angrily, tail slashing the dirt. Having Hornetpaw translate embarrassing stuff mid-sentence never failed to be hilarious to the sooty sibling--and he'd never miss an opportunity to fluster his well-meaning redheaded interpreter. He signed sorry over and over, still sniggering, clenched forepaw circling his sternum while he shook with mirth and Hornetpaw glared daggers at him over Dustpaw's head.
Hornet had just opened his maw to tell that jerk Centipede where to stuff his prey when Dustpaw piped up: and she had a good point. The ash-and-sand lass had gotten a stern word from Dawnstar at the last meeting for getting distracted--which had unfortunately been the fault of Centipedepaw and Hornetpaw. Not wanting to get their favorite "little sibling" in trouble again, the boys bit their tongues and sobered, obediently turning their gazes to the Shadowledge. Hmm… maybe Dustpaw would actually be a good influence on them.
The announcement of a new deputy had Hornet and Centipede stomping the earth with their paws in their form of percussive applause. The rusty tom shouted his congratulatory "Cinderblaze! Cinderblaze!" to add to the multitude crowing around him. Only when Dawnstar opened her maw to speak again did he quiet down, pulse thumping in excitement.
Enforcers, eh…? The idea sounded fresh, something to inject life and purpose into the clan. Hornetpaw moved to stand in front of Centipedepaw, translating Dawnstar's message in real time. When he finished signing the names of the new elite warriors--Vixensnarl, Badgerscar, Brackenfire, Warblermoon, Softpelt, and Cougarivy--Centipede let out a low, impressed noise.
Then Dawnstar continued, voicing her displeasure in the performance of… others. The brothers had to visibly choke back laughter. Since they'd observed the trials, they had a good idea of whom Dawnstar referred to. "Ouch," signed Centipedepaw, biting down hard on a smirk.
"I am bummed that Ebonyfang didn't get recognized, though…" Hornetpaw replied silently, a disappointed expression marring his face. "He works really hard… I thought he did well during the challenge--"
"Are you saying that because he's your mentor?" Centipede gestured back, raising a brow.
A growl from Hornet. "Dude, I swear I'll…"
The pale-splashed brother shot the tabby a mock glare. He placed a paw on Dustpaw's head: acting the protective older littermate. "Hey," he spoke authoritatively. "Not in front of Dustpaw."

Re: The Shadowledge
Marsh’Kit copied the other cats, calling out the new deputy’s name. “Cinder’Blaze! Cinder’Blaze!” When Dawn’Star announced something called “Enforcers”, his ears pricked with interest. Ooo, that could be cool! I wonder who’ll get to be one? He thought, listening. As Dawn’Star listed the names, he wondered why they were chosen as he didn’t really know them well, and not some other cats who were also good? Not that he knew them much either, he was just a curious cat. Maybe a bit too curious. But even with his curiosity he was determined to be the best warrior he could when he was older! Maybe I’ll get to be an Enforcer too when I grow up!

Re: The Shadowledge
She didn’t know why exactly but she was excited to hear a deputy’s name be announced. Cinderblaze was their new deputy. She’d only ever known no deputy or the short time with Shadestorm as deputy. It felt good to have a deputy and she was sure the position would be around when she had the opportunity to aim for it. Pigeonpaws eyes widened slowly in awe as Dawnstar described the role of the new enforcers. She could do that! If she didn’t get it this time then she knew she had another goal to strive towards. Would Dawnstar even give the role to an apprentice? Her paws shifted as Dawnstar began listing off the names. She recognized Warblermoon as part of her group to kill the beaver and then Dawnstar ended on Cougarivy. She didn’t get a chance to even consider if she was disappointed at not receiving the role because her mentor had! She stood up and looked around for Cougarivy. Before she even saw her, Pigeonpaw then heard the at Cougarivy would be the commander of the enforcers. It just got better! The commander of the enforcers was her very own mentor! She’d train even harder with a Cougarivy and she’d get into the enforcers for sure!

Re: The Shadowledge
// @Atticus
>Froglight | he/her<Froglight was more than a little late, but that was probably all right. So much happened with these meetings... he couldn't have missed anything incredibly important.
It was lucky he came out when he did, though - right in time for the important bits, it seemed! A new deputy, how marvelous! With a warm smile on her face, he lifted her chin to cheer Cinderblaze's name. He had never spoken to the tom, but he had clearly met Dawnstar's standards, and so he was certain he'd do just fine.
As Dawnstar moved on, so did Froglight. The leader began to list out the new elevated ranks for ShadowClan. Froglight had to stop herself from jumping halfway to the sun as Warblermoon's name was called, and with bright eyes, immediately found him in the crowd and hurried over.
He moved to press her nose to her mate's cheek and give him a quick lick across the ears. "I'm so proud of you!" He purred. "What an honor!"
Of course, someone always had to pipe up and ruin the moment. Froglight stepped a little closer to Warblermoon as he turned a stern expression on Poisonpetal, watching as the she-cat spouted off a bit of nonsense and then left, before letting out a small sigh of her own. "I'll never understand some cats."

Willowkit thought it was amazing that you could be chosen as an elite cat. Taking a moment to admire Cougerivy, before focusing her attention back onto the leader.
