Honey’Freckle- (Well, Honey’Paw, since she was temporarily demoted+in exile… Maybe just Honey? No, I am not calling myself that. I’ll just stick with Honey’Paw for now.) Honey’Paw walked through the unnatural open space. She came to a stop in a small dip in the ground and laid down in it. Its only a quarter moon. Could be worse.

A cold wind blew, pulling at his whiskers. Orion stilled in their walking, looking back over their shoulder into the wind. They quickly tasted it for anything, but could not pick up any worthy scents coming from that direction. It was true, then. The plains truly were worthless for hunting. She waited a few moments, carried off in the sight behind her. It felt unnatural here. Xe knew the rumors about how this place came to be. Perhaps it was true, or maybe it was just his instincts finding little trust in an area with few trees.
Speaking of instinct, Orion felt the need to just run. He turned their gaze back to the grass before them, his eyes narrowing. She knew that there were a few tree stumps out here. To run until xe finds one would be exhilarating, and maybe they'd burn some energy they would've spent hunting. Orion began walking, building speed until they were racing and weaving in the tall grass. When she spotted a tree stump, instead of slowing down, she leaped and stood atop it, gazing at the top of the grass. The cold bit into them a bit harsher now that she was out of the shelter of grass, but Orion didn't mind. Not for the view. The expanse was oddly startling.
Orion's flanks heaved as he regained his breath in the cold air. They wondered where to go next. To the Roaring Lake? No, they heard a thunderpath cut off access there. Orion sat down to think. The Twolegplace? But xe didn't feel like meeting talkative kittypets at the moment. Or they did? Orion sighed. What she really needed was to find some nice fresh-kill. They'd promised themselves not to eat the smelly things in the tall...whatevers again.

Mamba
Mamba skunk out onto the plains, shivering slightly in the cold wind, though her manner seemed very casual and carefree, as if it was completely normal to be out on the plains in the freezing cold. She still walked with that jaunty, self assured air, and there was a crooked smirk on her face as she scanned the plains. There had to be something her to ease her boredom. She had just eaten a sparrow not more than an hour ago, and now that she was full and content, she wanted some action. There was nothing more thrilling than good ol’ adrenaline rushing through your veins.
Unfortunately there didn’t seem to be much out here on the plains, and Mamba shrugged as she continued forward. From what she could see, it was empty— wait a second, was that another cat? Mamba immediately brightened up, and she raced towards the stranger, skidding to a stop and pausing for a second to catch her breath. “Hey there!” She gushed energetically. “I was jus’ about to give up on findin’ somethin’ to do out here!” She exclaimed, fixing the gold and black cat with a mischievous look. “Was jus’ gonna go find some trouble to get into. Nothing like a little danger to get the chill outta your veins!” She said, green eyes gleaming. “Wanna join??”

Nothing like a little danger to get the chill outta your veins!” She said, green eyes gleaming. “Wanna join??”
Orion turned in surprise at the stranger. They must've come from down wind, they hadn't smelled them coming. He dipped his head in acknowledgment. "Hello," he said. She thought that this cat was pretty...exciting? Or energetic. But they definitely seemed talkative. Orion guessed they'd met their talkative cat after all. The look in the stranger's eyes unnerved them. It reminded Orion of some troublemaking cats. This cat must also be a...hm. Something that does a lot of fun things. Orion would have to find the word later. But first, a question because he would like to understand this cat. "Why are you looking for trouble?" he asked, studying the black cat up and down. His eyes picked out a few scars. Did this cat get into fights? She hoped not. The last thing she needed was that kind of trouble.
The spotted cat paused for a moment in their reverie to feel the air. It was cold out. She guessed she'd been too busy running around to truly feel the bite of the cold. Orion fixed the black cat with a stare, calculating the risks. But oh, that takes too long. Besides, the cat seemed pretty nice. Orion sighed. Fair enough. Throwing caution to the wind, he said, "Well, alright. I guess I'll join." Orion flicked his ears as a bit of wind gusted momentarily. They jumped down from the tree stump, meeting the stranger at their level. "First, though, what's your name?" they inquired politely. Guess they should've done that first before agreeing to any shenanigans.
Mamba smirked at the other cats startled reaction. That was exactly why she had started gushing on about causing trouble. Getting reactions out of others was fun. A grin spread across her face when the spotted cat asked her why she was looking for trouble. And the answer was quite simple. “Why am I lookin’ for trouble? I’ll answer your question with a question: why not?” Mamba looked a bit pleased with herself. “It’s fun, and extremely entertaining. Besides that, I’ve never been caught, and I’ve managed to slip out all the trouble I’ve gotten in so far, so, once again, why not?” She said with a snicker.
She looked slightly surprised, but definitely delighted when the other cat agreed to join her in her quest for trouble. And hey, two cats looking for trouble were more likely to find it than one. She flashed the other cat a crooked smirk as they hopped down from the tree stump they had been resting on, and chucked as the cat asked for her name. “The name’s Mamba.” She replied, tilting her head slightly as she realized she didn’t know the stranger’s name. “And what might your name be? If ya don’t mind me askin’” she paused. “Though I suppose it’s only fair since I gave ya my name.” She finished with a bit of humor in her voice.
Why not? It made Orion pause. Well, they didn't because...huh. Why didn't they? He blinked in his spot, wonderous. Probably because stuff got too messy too often. Get into trouble, trespass onto territory, start a fight...too many cats involved and too much going on. Trouble sometimes was just not worth what happened as consequences. Orion shook his head as the black cat snickered. That's a reckless one. They wondered if the other cat was always this...silly? Or just happy-go-lucky, she guessed.
She noticed how often the black cat smirked at her. Were they trying to beguile her into getting into trouble? Orion's eyes narrowed in discreet suspicion. Was this really a good idea? How would he know? But would she ever truly know when she's getting tricked? What if they're wrong and they offend this cat? The chuckle drew them out of their trail of thought. Mamba was their fellow adventurer's name. It suited her. A snake for a glossy black cat. Orion ducked his head slightly out of tiny embarrassment. She guessed she had failed to provide a name as well. "Yeah, it is fair. Call me Orion," the dusted brown cat offered a flick of their tail as a more proper greeting. Not that it really mattered. Orion had already said hello. She kept herself from shaking her head at how all over the place she was.
Mamba could see the suspicious look in Orion’s eyes and that just made her even more determined to get the other cat to join her in some fun. “Awww, don’t worry, I don’t bite. ‘Sides, you can just watch as I have all the fun if it makes you that uncomfortable.” She drawled lazily, as she started to pad off back towards the forest and the cover of the trees. It was too cold out on the plains, and her short fur wasn’t helping her keep warm. She paused for a second and turned her head to see if Orion was going to follow her or not. “You coming, Spotty?” She asked, playfully.
She was well aware that that Orion had just given her their name, but she liked giving people nicknames, and so she made one up. “Don’t worry, I ain’t tryna trick ya. ‘Sides, what would I get outta this? I got nothing lose or gain, so your safe with me.” She reasoned. She wasn’t going to press it any farther though. If Orion was going going to follow her, then that was great, she’d have a bit of company while she ventured out. If they didn’t and wanted to stay here, well, that was on them. She’d simply have all the fun by herself.
