What really is StarClan?
I mean, do you really know?
Hmph. Probably not.
I've never seen any proof of its existence. So why should I believe in it, right?

Oh. I'm Bugkit. You know, that one skeptical kit in the nursery that everyone makes fun of? Yup. That's me. I was born and raised here in RiverClan and have always wondered what all of this StarClan nonsense was about. I've been told I look like a skinny black furred worm, but I'm fairly sure that isn't true. I'm biologically a Hermaphrodite, but I choose not to identify as either gender.

I'd heard about medicine cats and their special connections with 'StarClan' and I kind of wanted to become one... Not because I believe in StarClan! That much you can be sure of! I was just curious. I wanted to see if I could actually get proof that StarClan exists. And if it didn't and that was all for nothing... Well, it wouldn't be for nothing! I'd be the best medicine cat that ever lived - I wouldn't believe in stuff that didn't exist - Even with only one eye!

Oh wait. Did I tell you about that yet...? Yeah. I only have one eye. It's green with golden sparks around the edges. My mama says my eye is beautiful. And yes... I know I'm only five moons old, but I'm really curious... Please!!!!?? AHEM! I mean, um... Please let me become a medicine cat? I don't want to have to become a normal apprentice if I don't have to so you'll have to hurry up and choose me! *nervous laugh*

Another thing; I dont think I ever want to have kits. I mean, what's the point? Trust me, I know kits, and I know they'll just whine to you every heartbeat of every day. Honestly, I don't know how mama put up with me. *sigh*. I might want to have a mate though...- ! That is! If I don't become medicine cat! Heh. And I'm loyal, so trust me on that. I solemnly swear, that if I become medicine cat I will not have a mate or kits. After all, I did say I wanted to become the best medicine cat in the five Clans, didn't I?

What else do I need to say? I'm an only child. Only cat born of my litter. No dead littlermates, no nothing. Honestly, it gets kind of boring. Oh! There's another reason to become medicine cat! I bet it's never boring, is it? With all these sick cats coming in and taking care of them. Sounds like paradise. I mean! Not the sick part, of course! Just the taking care of them part. I've always loved helping take care of cats. Not like cleaning out the bedding though! That's-thats-thats! BLEH! No, I mean caring for cats, as in comforting them and healing their wounds, inside and out. Just overall making them feel better. Making their lives better. Doesn't that sound good to you? It sounds like something a true hero would do...

Am I a hero? I don't know... And I honestly don't know if I want to become one... I mean! Arggghhh! I keep messing up! Ok. Calm down Bugkit *deep breath* ok. I'm good now. I mean, as in the type of hero that has fans outside of their den every second waiting for them to come out *shiver* now that sounds awful, doesn't it? Never getting peace and quiet. Never being able to go out and collect herbs, never being alone. Never being able to sort the herbs... Really. I could make a whole list. Fifty reasons why I don't want to become a hero known to all the Clans. But, medicine cats aren't just marked as heroes, are they? They'd have to earn it. And I'm sure if I asked Fallenstar, he'd keep any major rescues I did a secret, wouldn't he? If I asked him?

About the hero thing again. If I become medicine cat, can I just be called a medicine cat apprentice? Because that's technically what I'd be. I'd have no training and need help from the other Clan's medicine cats. I don't want to be credited for knowing all those herbs when I really just... Don't...

I know I can be blunt... And harsh... But that's only sometimes! When someone gets on my nerves! I mean, how do you contain anger when your blood is boiling...? But don't worry. I'm sure I'll learn! Sometimes you have to learn the hard way, right? Although, I hope I never have to learn the hard way with herbs... I don't want the guilt of killing a cat on my shoulders... But I'm willing to take the risk! I will do my best to learn everything I can. The herbs. How to contain my anger and make sure I don't come off harsh. And, though I don't know how I'd pull this one off, how not to be blunt. Like I said before though, I will try my best!

Oh! Mama and papa will get worried about me if I don't get back to the nursery soon! I dont want to worry them! Bye bye for now! Hopefully you choose me! But if you don't, I completely understand... Bugkit is a pure black cat with a skinny frame. I mean very skinny. You can see their bones through their skin. That's partially because they don't eat much, but it's also partly because they were just born like that, with thin skin and an overall thin body. Though surprisingly, their fur is very soft and comforting to the touch. Their right eye is missing, leaving only their left eye remaining. Nothing happened to them for them to lose an eye, so their face doesn't look gruesome or anything, they were just born with only their left eye. Their one eye is a soft shade of green. Almost like the sun shining on a fern, but a fern that was slowly fading. Then, they have speckles of gold around the edges of their eye as if to represent the sun shining on the fern.

Bugkit's warrior/medicine cat name will be Bugheart, in honor of their love and devotion for not only their Clan, but the individual cats in it.

One of the only things Bugkit does not reveal to others, is their fears. They fear disappointing and letting down their Clan. This fear may be the only thing keeping them from being a medicine cat. But, they also fear being forgotton. This fear is one of the many things driving them to be a medicine cat. Or medicine cat apprentice, as they would call themself.

Does anyone really know what death is like? Of course, StarClan exists, so we know what happens to a cat after death - Clan cats, anyway. But think about it for a moment. Leaders, medicine cats; has a StarClan warrior ever told you what their death was like? I doubt it. Maybe they've told you how they died, but have they described it? Was it painful, or were they numb throughout? Maybe the pain faded, leaving them with nothing. Which sense stopped working first? Did they all give out at once?

What did it feel like?

My name is Briarpool, and I have predatory and existential death anxiety. I know that sounds bad, but it's actually very easy to deal with, considering most cats have it without even realising it. In basic terms, it simply means that I fear being harmed and, of course, fear dying. I fear death because I don't know what it will be like. I want to know more. That is one of the reasons I would like to be a medicine cat. Another thing I'm scared of when it comes to dying, is being forgotten. If I became a medicine cat, then no cat would ever forget me! Right?

Of course, I would still be a good healer for the Clan! A medicine cat's job is to help their Clanmates when they are injured or sick. I fully understand that I would need to do so if I became a medicine cat, even if I am more interested in the mystical side of the job. I would do my best to assist my Clanmates, and I believe I would quite enjoy it, as well. As you probably guessed, I'm not a big fan of fighting. I'll still do it, obviously, since that's one of a warrior's main jobs, but I'm always a little more jumpy than other cats. I always fight on the defensive.

Before you start worrying, yes, I am more than just a walking bundle of nerves with a strange fascination with death. I like to think I'm pretty brave, actually. Intelligent, quick-witted, humorous, likable... and very vain, apparently. I'm conscious of it, though! It's just that other cats don't tend to build me up too much, so I feel like I have to do it myself. I have walls around myself, some might say, made of my own compliments, to keep me from getting hurt by others. I feel that's fairly accurate.

I would probably be a little less self-conscious and more willing to be criticized if I could talk, to defend myself. Oh, I didn't mention that yet, did I? I'm mute. That's right! I can't talk. I suppose I technically can; there's nothing wrong with my lips or tongue, I just... can't. Whenever I open my mouth to speak, the words just get stuck in my throat. I've forgotten what my own voice sounds like by this point. I'm assuming it's different to what I sound like here, in my dreams?

It's kind of ironic, I suppose. Everyone tells me that I could never shut up as a kit. Maybe I just talked so much back then that I used up all of my words. Now I'm stuck communicating with only my expressions. I'm very emotive, luckily, or at least cats tell me that, so it's not too hard to tell how I'm feeling. I can usually get the gist of what I want to say across using tail signals, or by gesturing with my paws and ears.

Well, I try to use tail signals, anyway. My tail is a little shorter than most cats'. Not by very much! Maybe half a mouse-length? You can't usually tell, though, thanks to my long fur. It's a dark brown, with faint darker stripes. I have a lighter patch on my chest, which I like to think looks somewhat like a heart. My eyes are a golden yellow, from what I've seen reflected in the river. I don't have any scars, thanks to my caution in battle, but there is a tiny nick in the tip of one of my ears.

I know it doesn't really matter if I'm going to be a medicine cat, since they're not allowed mates, not that many cats would be very interested anyway, but I like to think I'm a pretty attractive sh- ...cat. But that might just be me being defensive, I guess? Half the time, I can't tell if my good thoughts about myself are genuine or just to prove a point. To show that what others think can't and won't affect me. I think... heh, I think that if I'm this confused... others' words really do affect me, don't they?

Mm... anyway...

Let's see... I'm 17 moons old, my favourite prey is water vole, I love cloudgazing, and... I think that's everything. It's everything I can think of, at least. Thank you for this opportunity!

Silvermurmur

Silvermurmur is a beautiful she-cat with a strange ability and a horrible past. Let's start with her past history.
She was born in an old abandoned rabbit hole, which her mother used as a den. The den didn't suffice very well, as when it rained, water would seep in, soaking the ground in the den as it relentlessly washed away the leaves and whatever prey they had caught that day. But it was their current hiding place to conceal themselves from Silver's murderous father. So they were willing to stay there so their chances of survival would be more likely. Silver's mother was out hunting for the two of them one day, but didn't come back. Silver, who was only eight moons old, worked up her courage to go look for her mother. She finally found her... murdered. The sight was horrifying. A paw had been ripped off, both eyes clawed out, throat was shredded, and a wound had been slashed through her chest, where her heart was. Silver turned and ran as fast as she could, desperate to get away from her father's evil, murderous cats. She eventually ended up in the forest, then wailed in grief for her mother. That was when she began to not speak to anyone. She was found under a bush in RiverClan territory, shivering, starving, and ungroomed, with horror in her eyes. She was taken in, and trained as an apprentice, but she seemed more interested in other's health and identifying herbs more than fighting and hunting. She learned about what it was like to be a medicine cat, and she immediately knew that was what she wanted.

Now for her strange ability. She can feel a cat's deepest emotions just by touching them. She learns their deepest regrets and sorrows, and as she does, she takes those emotions into her own mind, as if they were her own. She watches their past memories in her own head. She has taken this ability to her advantage, using it to become a sort of counselor, helping others get through dilemmas and problems that are bothering them.

However, she is having issues of her own. She is unsure of her purpose in this world. Surely being a medicine cat isn't all she was destined to be? She wants to find her destiny.

I’m applying Sorrel because I think she’d make a decent medicine cat, even though she’s young. Sorrel has a light brown pelt and green eyes. She is unknownst to her aromantic, so she won’t desire a mate if she if chosen.

Cons:

Nosy: Sorrel always wants to get in everyones business and tries to be helpful when they get annoyed to the point she wins at shoving her way into their business. Which often is disliked, fairly, however; she could use it as an advantage if chosen to find the cats who are injured and refusing to visit the medicine cat.

Annoying: She wants to get an answer, and nothing will stop Sorrelkit, so she will repeat her question over and over again until she gets an answer from someone, which is a flaw of her.

Repetitive: When Sorrelkit is excited she repeats herself over and over again which is viewed an annoying attribute, but she means well anyways.

Protective of her littermates: When it comes to Sorrelkit’s littermates, she is aggressive questioning anyone who talks to her littermates because she doesn’t want her littermates to be harmed.

Argumentative: She loves bickering with anyone, warrior or kit. She loves a good argument, though due to her youth she doesn’t have a good sense of self-control when it comes to when is a bad time for arguing.

Disobedient: She ignores her mother who tells her to ‘stay in camp’ or ‘be nice to the elders’ and will do as she pleases and that often is viewed as disobedient, but rather she views it as independent and doesn’t believe she owes anyone her apologies.

Disrespectful: She is fierce so she is happy to curse out Fallenstar and Rowanflower because she disagrees with their decision and will call them ‘mouse-brained leaders’ and storm off without an ounce of respect in her voice, but she most-likely would grow more respect for them as she ages.

Distractible: Due to being a kit, she is fairly distractible, obviously she’ll be less distractible with time.

Fiery: She has a fiery temper when someone tells her what to do, which is why I personally think she’d like Daydream a fair amount. When she is angry she will happily snarl at an elder for being in the way because she’s angry because her littermate claimed the prey she wanted.

Greedy: She always wants everything, but she probably will outgrow it with time.

Impulsive: She has no impulse control due to being five moons old instead of a warrior.

Obnoxious: She enjoys pestering warriors and asking them pointless questions which doesn’t bode well with her standards.

Selfish: If she’s tired and someone needs her help (typically something small and kit-game related) she snarls at them and says she needs sleep more than they need whatever they need.

Strong-Minded: If she sets her mind to something she never gives up and will fight no matter what to get it.

Thoughtless: She never thinks before she does something.

Troublesome: She always gets in trouble for doing simple kit things such as sneaking out of camp or pouncing on the elders at moonhigh.

Ungrateful: She never thanks anyone for everything, and believes she’s the center of the clan.

Well-Meaning: She means well despite her flaws, which mostly are due to being a kit.

Self-Conscious: She has no faith in her personality, she feels if she were her true self she’d be mocked so she has a false persona at all times.

Now enough of the cons!

Ambitious: Sorrel will stop at nothing to achieve glory and to be a respected cat, which is why she fights to become the medicine cat, her dream.

Determined: She is very determined and rarely gives up. She always is focused on helping. If chosen she’ll be determined to save a cat’s life and help everyone heal. Now it’s determination to become medicine cat.

Realistic: She is realistic, she knows when something is completely realistic or not, such as if someone were bleeding everywhere, she’d know they’d die most-likely and would simply try to slow down the death.

Political: She is always up for a good debate with a peer and has an opinion that she won’t give up and will debate over all day if she has to just to make the other person admit she won.

Proud: She is proud of being herself and an awesome cat. She is a little too prideful as she boasts about her pride on occasion.

Religious: She is excessively religious as she prays to Starclan three times a day thanking them for her existence.

Sarcastic: She always has a sarcastic remark awaiting her peers and she enjoys giving them sarcasm.

Stern: She can act rather stern with anyone who ignores her saying that something horrible will happen if they keep ignoring her advice.

Stubborn: She never quits at anything no matter what and that is due to her stubbornness.

Adventurous: She always enjoys a good adventure.

Calm: She never gets stressed visibly she keeps rather collected which can be a handy skill.

Caring: Under her sarcastic and rude layer she cares, she enjoys helping others out, she is rather self-conscious, part of the reason she hides under her layer of anger and fear.

Confident: She always is confident in what she’s doing, her motto is “false confidence is better than no confidence.” She would happily run into battle despite not knowing how to fight relying on her faith in Starclan to keep her alive.

Creative: She loves coming up with a unique idea and she would happily try it with healing wounds.

Courageous: She has too much courage, which helps her say what she thinks even if she thinks it’s mousebrained.

Daring: She will do something mousebrained because she was dared to do it, unless she’d die then she’d refuse.

Fair: She only judges someone for what they did not their personality.

Forceful: She will work really hard to force someone to do something, so if chosen she could force someone to take care of their wound.

Hard-Working: She works hard and puts effort into her work.

Helpful: She always tries to help others out.

Honest: She is honest, she never lies.

Honorable: She follows the warrior code and keeps her word.

Independent: She never asks for help or lets others help her out.

Open: She will tell others anything they want to know about her.

Passionate: She loves helping and is really passionate about out.

I will help my clan!” Her mother clearly seemed to think she wanted to save the clan, not that she wanted to be the medicine cat,” No really ma, I want to be the medicine cat.” She listened to her mother saying she was a rude cat so she narrowed her eyes,” Daydream is mean, and they are a medicine cat. So I can have an attitude to.” She replied smugly narrowing her eyes at her mother awaiting her mother for more criticism.

Speckledpebble, maybe due to his rare condition of being a male tortoiseshell, displays two different personalities. One personality of speckledpebble is very feminine. During this, his walk mimics that of the lake, flowy and effortlessly graceful. The way he talks is different, more she-cat like. He is more meticulous and careful and gentle. He is also very empathetic in the respect of he can discern what another is feeling. When speckledpebble is displaying his more feminine personality, he's very organized. This personality of his is very neat and OCD about basically everything. During his more feminine personality, he is kind, helpful, motherly so-to-speak and a bit naïve. He gets very emotional when too much is going on around him and this usually triggers a change in personality. His second personality displays the more masculine side of him. His masculine personality comes out when he's overly frustrated or there is chaos going on around him. His two personalities clash when it comes to OCD and neatness. He is often seen fixing something, whether it be his nest or the fresh-kill pile or cleaning up the camp and then all of a sudden gets extremely frustrated and messing up what he tried to fix. This personality of his displays logical reasoning, highly intuitive, and is capable of handling the overbearing situations. He remains calm, for the most part. He talks very gruffly and is sometimes a bit intimidating. He walks very tom-like, showcasing the muscle that rippled along his brindled colored fur.

Personality/backstory: Basic character traits: Paranoid, Lonely, isolated
In-depth character traits: Lakeripple is an easily frightened she-cat, she has had several past experiences that can trigger anxiety and panic-attacks, she is very aware and gets easily suspicious of everyone and everything. She was born alongside Lightkit in RiverClan, leaving around the time she was to be an apprentice to join her friend Red in the Dusk Syndicate, changing her name to Ripple. Red and Ripple eventually became mates and left the Dusk Syndicate and founded a small group of rogues, giving themselves the warrior names of Redclaw and Lakeripple. Lakeripple soon found she was to have kits, getting Redclaw angry and disbanding the group before leaving her behind. She had her kits, Brick, River, Waterfall, Lightning, and Canary on rogue territory, and asking her friend Woodpeckerflight from WindClan to take care of a few. Woodpeckerflight took Lightning and Canary while she took the other three and became a loner. She eventually came back to RiverClan as a queen, sneaking off to see Redclaw every now and then (he joined ShadowClan) she one day found that he had gotten a new mate, and stepped between them, informing Hollyheart that he was her mate. They both realize that he hadn't told them about the other, getting both Hollyheart and Lakeripple angry. Redclaw then attacked the two of them, leaving a huge scar under Hollyheart's chin, and large scratch marks on Lakeripple's face. She returned to RiverClan, much saddened to take care of her kits, and became isolated and aware of everything going on around her so she wouldn't be tricked again.
