Re: Horizon On The Hill.
ON her mate's signal, Petal tried to run across the grass. Panting, she managed to keep up for a while. Drawing alongside her mate, she mewed urgently I smell something strange Baptist. Do you know what it is? @ Beau , @ Mumble , @ Slushie , @ Willowfern , @ vermin

Re: Horizon On The Hill.
Baptist stayed back, paws frozen in place. His eyes glinted in the dark as rolling of growls pierced into his ears. They immediately detected the running cats and tunnel through the tall grass in a grand hunt. It is time.
[this is the time to kill off your cats and those who survive you can mark them as reaching over to the woods.]

Re: Horizon On The Hill.
Hearing the growling, Petal tried to pick up the pace, but in vain. Feeling the hot breath on her back, she took a last, desperate lunge, but felt the fangs close onto her back leg. Yanked backwards, she hissed and spat, but was unable to free herself. SHe felt the hot blood welling up in her leg, and felt more teeth ripping into her flesh. Her leg exploded in agony as teeth crunched down, shattering the bone. Suddenly, she was tossed high in the air, falling with a crunch, feeling teeth fasten into her again, and rip, rip, rip into her flesh, surely draining the life out of her. With a final summoning of breath, she called out to her mate, he must run, get the others to safety! Baptist, RUuu...... she gasped, feeling herself plummet through the air again. Landing in a dark, tunnel, she heard the pack scrabbling, digging, trying to get to her, and then everything went black. (Not killing her, but she is out of this plot now if that's ok) @ vermin

Re: Horizon On The Hill.
Ada heard the growling and her heart leapt with fear. She had to keep running for Eponine’s sake. She had to get herself and her daughter to the refuge. Too many bad things had happened to them for it to all end here and now.
Tears began to fall down her face, dancing away as the air whisked them off of her cheeks, and her choked sobbing made breathing harder. The racking of her terrified body tripped Ada and her and Eponine went sprawling with a shocked squeal from the latter. The growling and snapping became deafening and Ada squeezed her eyes shut, grasping Eponine and running for her life.
Yet... it soon became apparent that only one life would be saved by Adelaide tonight. A slobbering, snapping noise sounded and Ada howled in pain as jaws clamped down on her back leg and ripped her harshly from her paws. Before she went down, she used the last of her strength to fling a screaming Eponine away.
“Run, ma cherie! Run!”
The order died into an unintelligible scream as the dogs crowded in on her and began ripping her apart. It was agony but Ada’s dying thought was of her daughter.
Please live...
Eponine screamer and cry, watching the dogs tear part her mother right before her eyes.
“Mama!”
Sobbing cries choked the kit and she only ran because she couldn’t watch anymore. Blinded by tears and fear and grief, Eponine simply ran with no notion of where she was going until the growling faded away and trees appeared around her. Once the kit found herself in the woods, she collapsed and screamed her grief into the dirt.

Re: Horizon On The Hill.
[ @ Beau ]
----Warden----
The growling struck Warden like a knife between the ribs and he froze, staring out into the dark until he could stand to look no longer. His paws kicked up dirt and leaves and grass as he took off, racing past the dogs as they erupted from the grass and attacked. He gave neither Petal nor Ada as he ran.
His legs seemed to move on their own, however, and against his better wishes, he followed Eponine. The kit may have been whiny and annoying, but she was just that, a kit. He couldn't leave her to the dogs, even if they were far away. He passed her with ease when they entered the woods, then turned, and trotted to a stop in front of her. He bent down to nudge her with his nose. "Come on, kid, stand up. I'll carry you as far as I can until we can rest, all right?'"
Anger was beginning to burn in his chest. At the dogs, of course, for ripping this child's mother away from her, but also at Baptist. This was his fault, all his fault! If they hadn't left the city, they would have been fine, and now they were down two members. Possibly more by the time the dogs were finished. He took a second to glance over Eponine's shoulder, scanning the woods for any sign of the dogs.

Re: Horizon On The Hill.
[ @Slushie ]
Eponine could barely hear Warden over the sound of her own wails and she tried to push away from him with her paw, too affected by her mother’s death to care about continuing onward or accepting this tom’s help. Her mother was gone and nothing would ever bring her back. Nothing would ever remove the memory of watching her limb twist and her skin rip. That was a burden Eponine would have to carry for the rest of her life so what was the point in prolonging it?
