Death felt another spasm coming. I can't do this anymore! She thought I can't watch more of my kits die! She bit down on the stick and another kit came. Soon after that, another. A tom and a she-cat. The tom died after a couple moments, and the she-cat was very weak, but she was breathing steadily. Death had a feeling it was over. The tom that came second, the very weak one, died laying snuggled up against her chest fur.

"I have an idea... it may not work but its worth a shot..." Leaf mewed and began to press her paw firmly on the kits chest, holding open his mouth to let air in.

Leaf looked at the 2nd still-born tom and shook her head. "Theres no chance with him, but there is with this one." She mewed and kept performing CPR on the 2nd-born tom.

Death watched, her eyes glittering with grief. She didn't even bother disguising her emotions. The kit whimpered, but began breathing shallowly.

Leaf pressed harder, massaging the kits throat too and cooing to him.

He opened the sack and started licking faster and faster. He could let this kit die, like the others and his own.

Leaf her a sound comming from the bushes, then, to her surprize, her 3 kits burst into the clearing, with worried looks on their faces. It was only then that Leaf realized she'd been ehre for a white. Ash, Fern, and Hope scanned the scene, their worry turning to horror as their eyes found the dead kits. Keeping her eyes on the kit below her, Leaf mewed: "Ash, Fern, go over there and keep the 2 living kits warm. Hope, come help me here. Holdi s mouth open for me please." She instructed

Ash & Fern nodded and ran over to Daeth, pressing their fluffy gray & beige pelts against her newborn kits.

The little she-kit opened her mouth and let out a long, desolate mew, as if she knew that her brothers were dying. The firstborn kit just suckled, without a care in the world.

The kit stopped moving, just trying to breath was taking so much energy. Death leaned closer, so the little kits frantic, desperate breaths ruffled her whiskers. "He has to live." She hissed to Leaf, who was still massaging the kits throat. She leaned back, licking her firstborn who suckled at her belly.

He smiled and started to cry. He nudged the kit to her mother and pulled the tom over to him, and licked.
