I think he should be a rival, who later will turn love interest (when they reach 10-11 moons), here's my ideas:
Leopardkit was biting a rock, so, Aspenkit wants to play with her, but she rejects, and then, he challenges her in a race, and then, she accepts after so much provocation from Aspenkit, then, the two won the race, and then, they challenges each other until getting tired, it's okay to you?
