Sparkfrost's expression softened. He was an honorable warrior--fighting dirty had never been in his repertoire, but it seemed as if Sirius had brought out the worst in not only himself but his brother. He chuffed lightly in amusement, "If I could have bested him quickly, I would have. You distracted him, which gave me a shot. He's a vicious fighter, I have to give him that." He glanced up at the glowing expanse of Silverpelt, "I agree." he decided, following her back towards camp.
"You know," he began, his voice wavering a bit, "I felt...genuine fear when he turned on you. I was ready to do whatever I needed to to intervene...I've never felt resolve quite like that before...there was something deep in my bones, I guess...that wouldn't allow me to stand by when that flea-pelt bared his teeth at you."

Sagebrook's heart fluttered a bit as Sparkfrost explained how he had felt during the battle. Even as she tried to suppress the feeling-- you're a warrior, not a mooning she-cat-- she couldn't help but be pleased that her friend cared so much about her. "T-thank you," she mewed, unsure of what else to say. "I-- and I guess that I was, well, scared when you got injured. Thank StarClan it's nothing serious. I don't want anything to ever hurt you," she blurted and was surprised by the fierceness in her own voice. "Or any other warrior in WindClan," she added more softly but knew her meaning was clear. She'd never quite felt the same way about any cat that she now did as she looked at Sparkfrost, silhouetted gracefully in the rising moonlight. With a small pick of surrender, she admitted to herself, I think that I want to be a little more than friends.

Ashfeather felt a pang of sympathy for the silver tabby queen. She hadn’t known that she’d lost a kit, too. However, seeing her smile fade sent a sliver of a chill slithering down her spine. What’s wrong? she wondered silently, seeing how the she-cat seemed to be choking on her words. Wait... Slowly, the pieces of the words made sense. “H-he what?” she asked, although it was coming together slowly. Had something bad happened? Obviously. What? Did... did he leave the Clan? Get together with another she-cat? Or... or die? He couldn’t have died, right? She would’ve known if that had happened. But from the way Echowind was talking...
Her legs began to shake and she forced them to stay still. Nothing bad’s happened, she told herself firmly. However, everything was shaking now. She forced herself to stand still, tried to tell herself that she was being overdramatic.
“Wh-what?” she repeated. She needed to hear it. Make sure that she wasn’t going crazy.

Oh StarClan, now I have to tell her. Echowind touched her tail tip to the queen's shoulder, in a comforting way. She couldn't imagine how she would feel if Whisperbreeze died. "I'm sorry," she said softly, gently. "Flameclaw's dead." She smiled in a clearly unhappy but sympathetic way. "I'm sorry," she repeated, as if it was her fault. She wished she hadn't been the one to tell Ashfeather, but who else would do it? Twilightstar? Or maybe the stupid medicine cat and her passive apprentice? She wasn't quite sure, but at least these were cats the queen actually knew, and hopefully trusted. Echowind had only interacted with her once, at the camp expansion thing, as far as she could remember. Not my problem, not my problem... Great, now it's my problem. "He collapsed in the clearing... This morning, I think. I don't know where he is now." Her amber eyes were sympathetic, and it was clear she felt bad. "Maybe... Maybe he's alive?" The molly seriously doubted it, but maybe it would give Ashfeather hope or something.

He was just trying to show that he was loyal to his clan! She was the only family he knew, and now she was gone. He sat down under a tree and sighed, wishing that he had some friends to talk this out with.

Hallowstep had caught sight of an apprentice trudging around and looking, quite frankly, upset. Briefly, the young warrior considered whether this was his place to interfere, and after some consideration, he began to pad over, silent on the grass.

He'd settled down a few meters away from Tidepaw, ears peaked and tilted towards the younger tom. After remaining silent, he let out a low mumble.

"Why've you come out here?" he queried. His tail rest on his paws, "I wouldn't exactly call it...scenic."

Sagebrook padded into camp, keen eyes scanning the dim clearing. Her paws ached with weariness from a day well filled, but her ears were alert and her tail perked, her adrenaline not quite yet worn off. Aside from the shallow scrape along her flank, she was perfectly fine, but she was determined to make sure that Snailswirl checked over Sparkfrost's cut-- just to be safe. She cocked her head as she realized something.

"Your leg didn't seem to be bothering you today," she said encouragingly, glancing at the tom beside her. "Is it mostly recovered?"

The black and white warrior more or less flopped onto his side with heavy sigh once they reached camp, taking a moment to stretch his long legs, “As far as I can tell it’s fine,” he replied, flexing his claws to test the leg, “And this should heal up in no time—no need to bother Snailswirl with a little cut. It’ll be my first real scar, though.” Sparkfrost remarked, tipping his torn ear, almost proud.
