Moonkit glared coldly at Robinscratch as she mentioned to have 3 kits. Why was she always talking about her three kits? Cloudkit had disappeared ages ago, so she should just accept the fact that now she has two cats.
She was fussing over a strange kit whose name was Waspkit, but she didn't say anything as the shy kit introduced himself. Pinekit seemed pretty curious, though.

Her pelt bristled when Robinscratch said something really weird. "What? Join our family?" What does that mean? Does she want to replace Cloudkit with another casual Shadowclan kit?
Moonkit knew she was being unfair to Waspkit, and that probably he was an orphan without mother to look after him. But she couldn't forgive Cloudkit for having disappeared without telling them, and in her head the third place in their family was now forever locked.

Softening her gaze a little bit, she turned away and disappeared into the darkness.
After a few minutes, she came back with an old, soggy moss ball that was abandoned moons ago by another bunch of kits. She dropped it at Waspkit's feet, who seemed withdrawing as the black and orange kit approached him. With a flick of her tail, she invited her to pick it up. "I'm sure that you'll disappear as well just like Cloudkit did." She said calmly. "But it's not my decision for you to stay or not. You can have this." She continued, pushing the moss ball with one of her paws toward Waspkit. Maybe, unlike with Moonkit, it would help her feel less lonely.

Robinscratch sighed. Cloudkit, wherever you are, I hope you’re safe, she thought, I’m not trying to replace you but… poor waspkit has lost her mother, and her aunt is too much of a fox-heart to take care of her. When moonkit mentioned that waspkit would disappear just like Cloudkit, Robinscratch flinched. “I’m sure she won’t, Moonkit,” she assured her.


Pinekit sat next to his sister. “She isn’t a mean cat,” He meowed cheerfully about Waspkit.
