Ariana sat up and stretched before opening her bag she had left at the table before leaving a short while ago. A minute of rummaging around in it brought good findings. She took out a writing notepad. Shoving the Pheonix drawing forward, she set it down on the wood. Taking a pencil, she wrote something down. It took a quick ten seconds. Ripping the page out carefully, she took out her wand and pointed it at it. It took a minute for her to remember the spell her mother had taught her. Waving her wand, mouth moving as she whispered the spell, the paper began to fold in on itself in intricate, difficult shapes. Finally, it was finished. A miniscule flash of light shot at the origami bird from her wand for the complete finish. She smiled in accomplishment.

The bird chirped quietly, hopped on the table to get its bearings, and then fluttered over in the shy boy's direction. It hovered over his own table before slowly, so as not to startle him, landed on the other side of his book. It tweeted at him, tilted its head, and then laid down on the table with a cute wiggle before it began to unravel. Once it opened, it revealed the words:

Sorry to intrude, but I was wondering what your name might be. If you don't mind telling me. This way we don't have to speak to disturb the peace. My name is Ariana of the Flightmere House. Once your done writing, just tap the note with your wand and it'll come back to me after changing back. If you write, that it.
(Yup ^^ It's a nickname a good friend of mine gave me. Huh)
Oliver heard her digging around in a bag, and he looked up. He saw that she had pulled out a notepad and suddenly he started to feel uncomfortable. He wondered if she was taking notes on his behavior, and winced as if in pain. Covering it up by looking down at the open book in his lap. Looking over his shoulder, he was relieved to see that nobody was sneaking up behind him, although why he thought that was beyond him. He watched her write, then use a spell on it.

He didn't recognize the spell as the paper she'd written on folded itself into an origami bird. He stared at it in wonder, his brown eyes wide. Oliver thought that she must've used a very complicated spell, although if he were in her place,
he knew that he would've just folded it into an airplane. He was even more surprised as it landed beside him and unfolded so he could read its words. He glanced at her, then took out his wand and whispered a spell that changed the words already written.

Now it read:
It's fine. I guess that's a good idea. I'm Oliver of Chimeralor. It's nice to meet you. Also, that drawing of the phoenix is very life-like.

Once finished, he tapped the paper and watched as it once again folded into a bird and fluttered back to Ariana, assuming he'd read that right, although he wasn't sure it mattered anymore, but, shrugging, he turned his eyes back to the book.

(Oh, cool :3 My nickname to quite a few people I know is Giggles =.=' Heh)

Ariana watched his reaction. It was so cute. His awe gave her inspiration to do more origami. She waited calmly for his reply, picking eye crunchies from the corners of her eyes. Blue-gray eyes closed for a moment. What would it be like to have a friend like the boy she'd just met? To truly know him. She thought it'd be interesting and fun. My bad that'd happen one day. He seemed like a nice guy.

The teen opened her eyes when the sound of paper wings fluttered near her. Her origami bird was back! Did that mean he really replied?! Grinning, she gently caught the bird with her hand's palm. It opened right then after it chirped softly. Reading it quickly, she nodded, her smile soft and glad to see he'd noticed and didn't sound as nervous over writing than speaking. Maybe this could be a good way of talking to one another so that the bo-, Oliver won't be as shy around her. She wouldn't push it, though. She knew for a fact that not everyone was like her and enjoyed the small things.

Using a spell the erase the words, she used the pencil to write back. Ariana hoped he wouldn't be annoyed with this. Her mind flashed to a scenario where he got an agitated look on his face before tearing up the bird and listening to his chirp of surprise at the act before going silent. Then he'd give her a glare and leave. It was a very bad habit, if you want to call it that, to creating those false scenarios and worrying yourself over nothing. It happened, though, and it bothered her to no end. Focusing her eyes back, she finished writing.

Thank you! It's quite hard and requires patience, but I try. If you want, I can take a request on whatever you want me to draw. If I have the picture. I very much prefer using pictures or drawing still-life. Otherwise, my drawings look like a child drew them. You don't have to give a request, though. Only a thought

Tapping the paper, it folded and immediately flew to Oliver. She smiled happily, hoping, once again, that he won't be annoyed. He looked quite immersed in his book.

(My replies are probably going to be very delayed, sorry.)

Oliver watched her out of the corner of his eye, pretending not to be watching.
Still, he was curious as to why she didn't hurt him or be mean, and he wondered why she was being so nice to him. Was it a trick? He didn't know, and he couldn't tell. If it was, it was a very cruel one indeed, and probably worse than anything anyone had ever done in his entire life. He sighed silently, looking back down at the book that he still held in his hands, and then, it wasn't. He'd lost his grip and fell softly and silently to the floor.

Mildly embarrassed, he bent down and picked it up, hurriedly making it look as if he'd never dropped it in the first place. Deftly, he flipped back to his place and continued reading it backwards, just as was his way. He kept himself occupied with that for awhile, sometimes peering up at Ariana with nervous brown eyes, his hands tight on the book so that he wouldn't drop it again. He watched as she used some spell he didn't know and began writing again. Quickly, he looked back at the book, flipping backwards through it as he read page after page.

He silently shut the book and set it on the table in front of him, grabbing a peril and rolling it back and forth under his palm, humming a faint tune that was too quiet for anyone more than a few feet away to hear, although at this point he'd neearly forgotten that he wasn't alone, and contented himself in humming, rolling the pencil and staring at the ceiling, all of which was rather bring, but also better than doing nothing at all, but he soon went back to reading. Then he saw the paper bird return to him, and he nearly jumped in surprise. Quickly he read over what she wrote, not reacting much. He grabbed up the pencil, erased her words, and wrote his own:

Cool. Can you do a hippogryph? Do you like it here, in the library?

He found that a ton of questions clouded his head, but Oliver limited it to just those two, at least, for the time being.

(That's fine. I'm forcing myself to be off the forums most of the day until nighttime. I forgot about yesterday, though xD If 2 days have passed without you replying, I'll just do a mention along with quoting my post, again x3 Just in case)

Ariana immediately erased the message again, via magic, and began to write once she had the bird. A hyppogryph? The name looked strange. Was that how it was spelt? Her memory was so crappy. She'd search her photo book, anyway, for any signs of that picture being there. The picture would have to be the best she'd ever drawn. This time her perfectionism towards art would be a good thing. A rough sketch of what had to be drawn would come first. That usually helps with large ones. And boy was the Hippogriff huge.

Thinking about what it looked like, she then figured it kind of suited his house. Chimeralor with the name chimera, which had to do with two or more creatures mixed into one. The Hippogriff looked like a mix of a bird with sharp front talons and a large horse with strong hind hooves. The hindquarters were the horse while the front was a majestic, feathered creature. Like a chimera.

Smiling, she finished writing. The library? That was easy.

The proud creature suits your house I'll make it the best of all my drawings. Color or no color? You can choose which. As for the library, I absolutely love it here. It's peaceful. I can get stuff done without being around chattering house members. And I get to be myself. What more could I ask for?

Well, there was more, but Ariana was trying not to show her selfish side. More money for her family. More friends at the school. Getting to see her old friends, again. Not having to feel pain... Frowning at those thoughts, she hit her head and shook it over. She hated thinking like that. Softening and smiling lightly at the note she wrote, her wand tapped. It flitted over to Oliver as the bird, once more, a soft tweet leaving its paper beak. When it landed and cocked its head at the guy, she brought her sketchbook of the Pheonix closer to her. Smiling again at Oliver, she looked back down at her drawing and began to continue the feathers. Its photograph it came from would have made its usual birdcall if she hadn't purposefully silenced them all.

Concentrating slightly, she began to softly whistle to where it wasn't sharp. The song was gentle and a mix of upbeat and melancholy. If they weren't the only two in there, you wouldn't have been able to guess where it came from. You wouldn't have seen any movement from her lips; they didn't pucker at the front. Instead, there was the very slightest opening at the left side of her mouth. Without standing right in front of her and looking exactly at her mouth, you wouldn't be able to see. In a quite library, despite her soft whistling, it was loud but not overly so. Yet, it had an echoey sound to it like a cave. But the way the whistled song did so made it almost surreal, like it came from something else other than her.

Ariana loved doing that when she was alone, but this was a bad habit to whistle as it tended to annoy many people, so she didn't always do it. Then it changed, her whistling, over the years. It got stronger and lighter at the same time. She could perfectly mimic birds. Sometimes it was difficult, but with practice, she got it. Her singing got better, too. Whereas her voice got almost unnoticeably deeper as she got older, she was not able to sing high notes, anymore. Not unless she forced them. That had made her throat hurt and make a popping sound. It pained her to swallow after that happened, so she stopped. Now, she could do it again. And it was similar to how her whistling was heard, the pleasant echo as if done in a cave or big room, but in words.

At this moment, though, the Flightmere housemember had her mind on the drawing.

Rubin felt a tear slide down his gaunt cheek, and he wiped it away roughly. "I love you too, Peter." He said softly. He picked up the needle, and prepared for failure for this final test.

He was wrong.

The mouse blinked, sniffing the air and opening their eyes. They locked onto Rubin, and scurried towards him, smelling the potion on him, and sensing the relief and joy flooding from him. The mouse didn't know why this human was happy, but it made her happy as well. It scurried up the humans arm, resting on it's shoulder.

Peter set his plate in the sink, then began walking into the living room, slowly shuffling his feet across the floor to make his way across, entering the living room and laying back down on the couch, listening to nothing.
