Shinepaw had been sleeping peacefully in her new den when she was awoken by her mentor. It was bad enough she even had a mentor, she'd rather do everything on her own. That would work way better. 'Well, I suppose I did decide to join this clan when I was younger, I guess it's fair I at least try to help out with hunting or whatever'. She thought as she grumbled, trying to think of an excuse for helping out this place she called home, but she could really only come back to the fact that she was somewhat being forced to get used to their strange customs. Though, she had a den to sleep in and food to eat, so that's all that mattered to her. She supposed she could put up with their habits for a while if she got that.

Stretching a bit, she made her way out of the den, where Owltalon was waiting. Shinepaw dipped her head slightly in acknowledgement to her mentor. "What will we be doing today?" she asked lamely.

Owltalon thought for a moment. When he was an apprentice, the first thing his mentor did with him was to take him out on a tour of the territory. That sounded like a reasonable thing to do. "I thought I could show you the territory," he replied, trying to sound confident. "We'll go from there." He stretched his limbs, ready to go for a run, but stopped himself. He didn't want to tire his apprentice at the beginning of the day. Owltalon would have to slow his pace a little so Shinepaw could keep up until she was better conditioned. @Skydra

The tabby cat stepped out of the medicine den, casting a long, forlorn look back. Their heart was pounding in their chest, shoulders heavy with the burden that they bore. Slinking past ShadowClanners and WindClanners alike, the medicine cat made their way up to the Breezerock. With a heavy sigh and a couple of deep breaths, they leapt up onto the rock. They would have to make this quick, for fear of an unplanned interruption from WindClan’s lovely guest, Dawnstar herself.

"Cats of WindClan! I have a quick announcement." They would wait for, hopefully, the Clan to get her. Their paws itched to move, to run. To get away. They felt horribly exposed, all eyes and ears on them. "I—" They started, before their voice began to crack. Snailswirl huffed, trying to shake their nerves. "I’m stepping down! Due to— to personal reasons. I’m no longer the medicine cat apprentice of WindClan."

Crowspeck and Ravenflight were both surprised at the revelation, exchanging glances with each other. Still, they respected Snailswirl's decision, and Crowspeck smiled gently at them while Ravenflight nodded in acknowledgement.

Gullpaw’s eyes went wide,” Then I’m probably going to die because there is no way I’m going to Cold-hearted Amber for healing, Snailswirl. Either you’re going to agree to continue to treat me when I’m injured or you’re dooming me to die next time I’m injured!” she angrily shouted,” Windclan needs you, you’re the only cat we can look up to now. What are you just leaving us to Dawnstar, not that you’re not great Dawnstar,” she added since she wanted to stay on Dawnstar’s good side, if Windclan was going to fall like this as it seemed to her, “but we need someone of our own to lead us and not that soft former kittypet fake medicine cat we call Cold-hearted Amber! What kind of disloyal kit are you, Snailkit, since that’s at least what your acting like, might as well call you a kit, Snailkit” she angrily shouted her nostrils flaring in fury at the only cat she knew would always be there for the clan stepping down.

Shock shot from ears to tail tip as he caught wind of Snailswirl's announcement. They were... resigning? What? For a brief moment, fear clouded his judgement and he worried for the safety of WindClan. First Twilightstar, then Breezefeather, and now... it all seemed like too much, and he felt overwhelmed as waves of anxiety crashed down over him.

But as much anxiety as he was feeling, his heart tugged him forward to meet Snailswirl.

"You served us well," Basilwhisker called as he approached, turning his head so he could catch the medicine cat apprentice's gaze. In his mouth he carried a few frost-covered leaves, some from his personal storage that he had collected on a recent trip to the ThunderClan border. Carefully he set them on the ground and gestured from Snailswirl to the pile, motioning that they were a gift for them.

Was it high rank death time? Or like, the death of the high ranks? Weaselskip couldn't help the roll of her eyes at the retirement of the medicine cat. Why was everyone dropping like flies? First their leader, gone. Then their deputy, thrown out over a cliff... or fed to the cannibals, depended on who you bothered listening to, and now, their medicine cat apprentice stepping down... but come to think about it, she'd not seen the cat around that often, especially during the crisis. The clan had looked to Coldamber, not to them. But... it did little matter. Snailswirl was stepping down and as long as no more chaos would envelop Windclan Weaselskip was perfectly alright. Personal issues, seemed no one had a good excuse for abandoning their clan in crisis though... at least their deputy had supposedly gone down fighting and defending the clan. Unlike... this coward. Coward was a fitting word. Although that fit herself to a similar extent but Weaselskip was a hypocrite through and through and therefore... gave little thought to it.

Quailwerp was stepping down? Stagleech had rather liked the cat... but they'd been kind of absent of late. Old had been the mature one, taking charge and he needed... he needed to find her. Twiggy and Mushy where still gone... or at least Twiggy was and Stag had no clue where Mushy had gone, so the only... caretaker he had was Old. And maybe... maybe she wasn't aware of this? And he needed to hug her. To make sure that she was alright because she kept making sure he was alright and sometimes... sometimes you needed to return the favour.

"Old!" He spotted the crippled molly and ran his way over, his limp more apparent in the cold that had set in. The scars that was his crippled paw were more apparent. "Old!" He jumped for her then, wrapping his paws around her in a warm hug before peering up at her greyscale form. The world was in greyscale anyway. "Are you alright? I can find bees and honey if you're not! I think... I think I can find bees and honey! Or I can find a pretty rock. Or or or I can find someone to go down and find pretty shells again?" He wanted to make sure she was alright.

Hearing a familiar voice call out across the clearing, the pale furred tom turned his head away from Snailswirl and the leaf pile. Stigs! He glanced back up at the former medicine cat apprentice, dipping his head in a farewell before sprinting towards his best friend and the end destination for his run. The Clan seemed to be in more chaos now than it had been when they first learned the news of Twilightstar's disappearance.

Gently placing his tail across Stagleech's shoulders, Basilwhisker turned his attention to Coldamber. He hadn't interacted with the medicine cat much, but knew that she held a spot close to Stigs' heart. "I have some new art I've been working on. The frost provided pretty leaf colors this time around," he offered with a small grin.

Seedheart just stood there listening to Snailswirl. Why was every high rank leaving their role or dying. Nothing was going right for their clan. Nothing. She didn't question it though. She believed that Snailswirl knew what they were doing. It was their choice and nobody elses. "Whatever you do know you have some of your clanmates behind you.", she meowed, glaring at Gullpaw. That cat was just being selfish for that.

Lionpaw gasped loudly in exaggerated surprise, eyes blown wide open. WOW! She didnt know a medicine cat could do that!

Mudpuddle smiled a small, gentle smile, eyes warm. Well, that was completely understandable. Being a medicine cat was no doubt quite stressful, and she assumed she would do the same were she in the paws of Snailswirl.

Morningpaw sighed quietly, flicking her non-folded ear before turning and going back into the apprentices den.

Antlerdash, utterly disinterested by all of this boring mumbo-jumbo, rolled his eyes while yawning loudly, half-lidded eyes lazily examining his claws.
