She purred reassuringly, dipping her back into the water for half a second before standing, her long fur soaking up most of the liquid and weighing her down, but somewhat repelling the water, some of it rolling off her fur like it was covered in wax or grease. Her steps were lagging, though, when she turned, and her smile strained a bit.
"I myself don't swim often, my fur is a bit too thick to allow me such an activity."

"I can't imagine." Batpaw mumbled, looking at his mentors thick pelt, it looked exhausting just to stand.
He held his breath again and dunked himself deeper into the river. The water seemed to roll around his scrawny shape which surprised him as he expected to instantly get carried away. He guessed that Whitewish shielding him had made the water less powerful against him. The rest of the dust washed away from his pelt, besides some left on his head and muzzle.
Batpaw glanced at his mentor, "Hey, um, Whitewish." He began, his soft voice barely audible over the hum of the river. "I wanted to thank you f-for teaching me so much today. I-I couldn't ask for a better mentor." He licked his chest fur slightly embarrassed but it was something that he needed to say to the she-cat and he was just relieved that he found the right words to express his gratitude.

@CactusHeart
Lilyfire could hardly believe this- of all cats to be put on patrol with, it had to be the one tom that she didn't get along with. Her tailtip flicked in annoyance at the thought; this was going to be a dreadful hunting patrol. The molly glanced over her shoulder back at Moonstorm, before turning back around and padding on with a huff. "Well, do you want to hunt fish or land prey?" she called back, still not bothering to look at him. She knew he didn't like her, so she wasn't going to pretend that she liked him. There were many things about this tom that annoyed her- his passive-aggressive nature, for one, drove her insane. Honestly, if you want to say something, in Lilyfire's opinion you should just come out and say it. Dancing around your opinion is a coward's way at speaking out. At least, that's how the molly viewed things. She herself was never one to hold back from voicing an opinion; moons of being taunted and teased for her small size caused her to form very loud opinions. Another reason she didn't get along with Moonstorm would be because of their personalities. Lilyfire was stubborn, not backing down, and Moonstorm was a tom who liked to have his way about everything. This caused the two to butt heads quite often. Seriously, whoever had the idea to shove these two on a hunting patrol together should be sent to the Dark Forest. Lilyfire just knew this hunting patrol was going to be a disaster. The two were bound to get into an argument and scare all the prey back, and returning to camp with empty paws would just be an embarrassment. "Let's just get this over with," the molly mumbled under her breath, still agitated but trying to cool her temper.

This is terrible! he thought to himself. He couldn’t believe that he was on a hunting patrol with LilyFire. He had hated her through apprenticeship, and hasn’t changed a bit. “I’m not catching land prey, Let’s go to the river.” He slightly growled while saying it, but cut it off immediately.

Lilyfire paused, eyes narrowing as she stopped her walk and spun around. She didn't like the growl she had heard. "I'd watch yourself," she hissed quietly, the fur at the back of her neck rising slightly in her anger. She was not one to tolerate such behavior. At all. "The way you're acting, you'll be headed back to camp with a claw across the nose instead of some prey." It wasn't an empty threat, either. Lilyfire had been known for getting into some disputes as an apprentice, but back then it was when others would tease her for her small size. The molly knew she'd have to prove herself somehow, and winning fights seemed to be the best way. Now, though, she'd have to try to hold herself back. Being an apprentice, you sort of get free passes for mistakes. But once you become a warrior, the clan expects you to be much more mature; she'd be sure to get more than a small scolding for fighting a clanmate now. Instead, the spotted feline settled for shooting a glare at Moonstorm before quickly turning and heading towards the river. She needed to blow off steam, and through unsuspecting prey was the safest way to do so.

MoonStorm rolled his eyes. “You’ll get in a lot of trouble if you do that. But don’t worry I won’t tell!” He meowed, a smirk growing on his face. He liked it when LilyFire got mad. He that it was adorable, just like when she was an apprentice. When apprentices he would never dare to mess with LilyFire and her small appearance. “How about this. I’m not really up for hunting right now. Could you catch some fish for me?” He meowed, cocking his head mockingly.

Anger was bubbling right beneath Lilyfire's coat, begging to be let free. She was struggling to hold onto her temper, and Moonstorm seemed determined to push all her buttons, as if he wanted her to be angry. In the back of her mind, the molly knew that was what he wanted; the tom wanted her reaction. He probably got a rise out of seeing her loose control. If she were reasonable, she'd back down and act like his words didn't mean a thing to her. The problem was that she wasn't reasonable, and anger always won over in the end. Stopping their course once again, the molly stormed over to Moonstorm, getting right up in his face. "Catch some fish for you? What, like a servant? Think again, crowfood!" Her paw jabbed the warrior in the chest, trying to push him back. Her claws were still sheathed, but at this rate she'd be bringing them out soon. A small voice whispered to her to calm down; she'd said her peace, now back off so they can get the job done. Deciding for once to listen to logic, she small she-cat took a step back. "The point of being on a hunting patrol is that we both hunt," she snapped, letting anger in her voice despite trying to cool off. "Now come on. I don't want to spend a heartbeat longer with you than necessary."

MoonStorm smirked again. He liked it when she got mad, really liked it. He stopped right where he was “Guess it’ll have to be a few heartbeats more, then!” He giggled to himself and smiled at LilyFire. He purred with amusement, when LilyFire got angrier.

For a moment, Lilyfire froze, baffled and unsure how to respond. How was she supposed to survive through this patrol when her partner was doing his very best to get on every last nerve in her body? She shook her head slowly, then fast a few times, getting herself together. "Fine, stay there. I hope an angry badger comes around while you're standing there like an idiot." With that, the molly turned and continued towards the river at a fast trot, not waiting for Moonstorm. If he wanted to fool around, he could stay back there own his own. As far as she was concerned, Lilyfire would've been better off hunting on her own than with this mousebrain.

MoonStorm frowned. That wasn’t the response he expected. He ran up to the Molly and nudged her, “Awww, I thought you were gonna get mad at me!” He meowed jokingly. “Please get mad at me again!” He giggled again and put on a mad face mockingly.

Oh, goodness, this tom would be the death of her. Lilyfire shot a glare at Moonstorm, jerking herself away and distancing herself. "Don't touch me," she spat out, voice dripping venom. Then she shook her head, eyeing the tom. "You have serious problems, you know that?" Thankfully, it wasn't long before they reached the river, and as soon as she heard the water she turned away from her hunting partner to rush away. All they had to do was catch a few fish and then she could leave and put this horrid experience behind her. "Come on, slowpoke. The fish won't just wait around for you," the molly taunted, pausing at the water's edge to look behind her. Then, she looked back at the river to figure out the best approach. "Since we're on a patrol together, we might as well work together for this hunt," the molly reasoned, switching her anger off in order to focus on the job at hand. "So, one of us should go over to the other bank. That way one can chase the fish from one side over to the other and into our partner's claws."
