He had pressed closer to her, and her heart began thrumming as fast as a humminbird's wings. Rising to her paws suddenly, she smiled awkwardly down at him, "Um, I-I should..probably go back to my nest..." She stifled a nervous laugh, beginning to pick her way out of the nest to go back to hers. Maybe she could move her nest closer...but she doubted she'd get much rest in her own now.

He was a bit surprised as she rose quickly and made her slightly stammered statement. Bristle’s first thought was that he did something wrong, his second thought wondering what he wanted in the first place. Was he comfortable with her sharing his best for the night? Would that imply something about their friendship? What would the others think? Did he care? Bristle shook his head somewhat, mulling it all over in his mind as she started to leave. “Oh. okay.” Was all he could get out, despite an overwhelming feeling of wanting to ask Apple to stay “Uhm, sleep well then...” he spoke finally, in an unmistakably disappointed tone.

Ashnose woke up, stretching her legs. She yawned and began cleaning and grooming herself, seeing as her fur was messy from sleep.
