Augustus displayed a genuine, bright smile when she gave him just what he wanted. He was a cat who lived off the sharp retorts of others, and Jinx was gullible enough to feed him. However, he did experience a piercing stab in his heart when she mentioned Renn. After all, he'd been spending moons trying to recover from his littermate's disappearance. And here comes `little ol` Jinx, destroying all that hard work. His tail-tip was the only sign that her comment about Renn effected him, but his tail swiftly quit giving away his feelings. He chuckled at her, pawing at the ground in front of him before responding.

``Whoa,`` He drawled, his eyes gleaming with sincere amusement. ``Chill, little kitty - doesn't everybody have a right to their own opinions?`` Augustus coolly lowered his head to meet his rising paw where he drew his tongue over it. When his paw was once more against the ground, he raised his head high. ``Alright, alright. I'll be honest. I met Blazingnight once, and I truly liked her. She let me and my companion stay within ShadowClan's border for a few sunrises.`` Which is how I remembered you. ``I respect her, even after death. And now I must know if you respect my brother.``

Augustus' eyes were still light, but his tone grew serious as it sometimes would when the topic of his missing, considered-to-be-deceased littermate came up. He held a certain form of anger towards those who spoke negatively of Renn, often planning a way to get back at them for it in the most unexpected ways. Kin was important, and Augustus planned to do anything possible to keep the name and spirit of his brother alive.
Jinx merely blinked. She didn't know how to handle his personality and how he found amusement in her remarks. Perhaps he was one of the few cats she couldn't insult? She didn't catch the tail swish to realize her words did hit home, but she could tell in his words about his brother she did. She felt satisfied. However, his apology merely got a huff out of her. Jinx didn't take anything spoken about Blazingnight lightly. She was once close to the feline and just like Augustus had intended, she would continue Blazingnight's beliefs. "I've never personally met Renn, so he's given me no reason to show him disrespect," she replied towards his more serious tone. Her own tail was swishing lightly across the forest floor now, revealing her paws. Between the time he spoke and she did, her claws had sheathed and she didn't seem nearly as aggressive. That was the thing with Jinx, she could be cold and aggressive one moment, but due to her training, she was easily made calm and patient again.

Augustus simply shrugged at her vague response. She didn't say she disrespected him, was what crossed his jumbled mind. He was having difficulty reading the she-cat before him, but judging by the fact that her claws were no longer unsheathed she had loosened up. He grinned brightly at this, satisfied he had succeeded in loosening up such a put-together warrior. ``Mm,`` He mewed smoothly. ``Glad to hear that.``

``Now that we're at calm rivers, there's no reason for us to be so... uncivil towards one another.`` His tone was light, an ounce of teasing within it. However, his words were usually always teasing even when he was being serious. Augustus' cocky smirk transformed into a small smile, something that looked so... unusual, on the overconfident tomcat. ``Jinx, my friend, answer me this single question.``

He preformed a deep, dramatic silence that added effect to his previous statement. Then, with a quiet inhale, Augustus enforced his comment. ``What's your favorite prey? Personally, I favor the common squirrel.``

"I wouldn't just leave you out here," Delvin smiled, then shrugged. "It was the same old same old, for the most part," He decided not to mention the few questions he was asked regarding his whereabouts. He closed off the cave, and stepped further in. Blinking, to adjust his eyes, Delvin sat down near Eagle, trying hard not to stare.

Jinx listened to the tom-cat, however his overly confident personality irked her. How could she ever grow to like him since he was already calling her a friend? What a strange word to her. Jinx didn't make friends, she made allies. Friends were later to be weaknesses and she didn't have time for those. As the ebony feline continued to listen, she decided that she wouldn't bring up the whole friend thing and just allow him do call her what he pleased, it made no difference to her anyway.
Although now the pause to lick his paw made her roll her yellow hues as she waited for the question. With a small huff, she glanced around at their surroundings. Everything looked the same everywhere. She was so used to Shadowclan's territory that she thought she'd never be able to learn her way around this territory. However she knew she simply needed to learn the scents and know landmarks and she'll be fine. There weren't many rules here and that's how she'd like to keep it. She wasn't going to let another "mentor" tell her what to do. Augustus more so than any other at this point.
Finally the question was spoken and Jinx flicked her tail. Why was that so important for him to know? What was the point of that? Oh well. She decided to go ahead and play along. Mouse or frog, one of the two. It seems like you don't have many frogs around here though so mouse will do," she replied nonchalantly. She knew very well that only Shadowclan ate frogs, however she wasn't sure what Dusk Syndicate cats thought about the amphibians.

Augustus brightened at her cooperative response, and his lazy posture straightened significantly. He was beginning to like the black-pelted she-cat who played along with his idiotic act. He was rather kit-like, when you think about it. He absolutely loved playing, especially when playing with personalities. He had that submissive act, that bee-brained act, the cocky act - his favorite - and several more. It was, honestly, difficult to keep up with, though. For example, Cat 1 believed him to be an innocent little bugger, but Cat 2 thought he was much too cocky. And he had to be certain not to screw up, and be innocent around Cat 2 and cocky around Cat 1. And when both Cat 1 and 2 were together, then what must he do? That's where his quick-thinking came in. There was a lot to acting that most didn't know about.

Renn never exactly... approved, of his acts, but like most siblings would, Augustus would continue with them simply to get on his brother's nerves. Besides, he found tons of joy in acting - his skill, talent, his hobby. And he knew Renn wanted him to be happy, so he would continue acting. In general, though, Augustus' could be described as an overconfident, deceitful flea-bag.

``Ah, the common mouse,`` Augustus purred smoothly, adjusting his position. He lowered his upper half to the ground as his rump lifted to the air. His forelegs stretched out before him, and his hind legs pressed firmly onto the ground as he reached for the sky with his lower half. His tail was straightened behind him, as stiff as a twig. His jaws opened wide in a satisfying yawn that came with the soothing click of his muscles. Augustus scurried back to his paws, his tail sweeping at the ground and disturbing the few deceased leaves around him. His large, rounded ears swiveled in an alert manner, and his nose and whiskers twitched as he scented the air through a slightly open mouth. With a friendly grin, he turned his warm gaze on Jinx.

``My fair maiden, allow me the right to catch thee a rodent,`` Augustus meowed in a professional tone, bowing his head to the she-cat. He raised his head a bit until he could properly see Jinx's face, but his head was still considered to be bowed. Of course, he still intended to show off his hunting skills to Jinx by catching her a mouse even if she turned him down, but he thought it to be gentlemanly if he requested her blessing.

Jinx was normally independent. She was taught to never rely on others and vowed to keep it that way considering she couldn't trust anyone here yet. No matter how friendly Augustus tried to play himself as friendly, she had been here long enough to know that Dusk Syndicate cats were all about tricks and lies so she was especially suspicious of the feline before her. It took a while for the ebony feline to adjust to companionship... if the earned her trust. Her eyes blinked in almost shock when he offered to catch her food, although she quickly shook her head. It seemed instinctual. The sturdy she-cat got to paws, her tail swishing. "I can catch my own food. I'm not helpless," he spoke sternly. Her ears were already swirling around to listen for the first signs of any type of movement. She hadn't really hunted in this territory yet, although she refused to come back empty pawed. Jinx would have to adjust to her surroundings and work on her hunting posture in this area, she couldn't use her long jumps as often here, there was a lot more shrubs and objects in the way.
Jinx eyed the tom now, wondering what he'd say to her rejection of his offer. Would he just go and do it anyway? Surely he'd hunt just for himself. The cats around here were more independent so it wouldn't make sense to her if he brought back prey. Although, there was a downside, Jinx wasn't too hungry at that moment. A small mouse would fill her up. Since her time coming here, she hadn't eaten much as she adjusted. Still, she wouldn't let this tom-cat show her up. Everything was a little it of a competition to her.

Everything was a little it of a competition to her.
``That much I know, sweetheart,`` Augustus purred, curling his rat-like tail over his back as he now stood tall with his head raised high. Swiftly, he whipped around and trotted a few fox-lengths away from Jinx. Over his shoulder, he called back to her, ``Wait right there, precious. I'll be right back.`` What was his deal with the nicknames, you ask? Nobody knows... not even himself. He brought his nose to the air, and it twitched as he inhaled a jumbled mess of scents.

Wet, dead leaves released a fresh, strong scent that he liked. The dark trees released a dusky-type scent, and the few grass stalks consisted of a smell he found to be boring. Through all the nature-related smells, the mouth-watering scent of a rodent wafted towards his muzzle. Augustus was quick to pinpoint the location of the mouse - just behind the trunk of a nearby tree. He could hear the faint scratching of the mouse searching for food. He dropped into a crouch - one he'd seen the hunters practice in the clearing. However, it wasn't quite right. He favored one side more than the other instead of balancing his weight, and his steps were heavy as he crawled towards the rodent.

The mouse seemed to of picked up on it's stalker, as it froze, and sniffed. It was quick to run off, in the opposite direction of Augustus. However, the black tomcat saw the rodent around the thick tree trunk, as well as hear the light patter of it's feet. As fast as a mouse, Augustus was on his paws and chasing after the mouse. The defenseless rodent didn't get very far, as the cat's long legs and lack of weight made him speedy. By luck, Augustus returned to the place he left Jinx with a scrawny mouse clenched firmly yet carefully between his jaws.

He walked with proud, his head tall and his posture straight. His tail rose in an arch, and his strides were long. His green eyes sparkled with excitement, and his pelt tingled with adrenaline. Augustus wasn't a hunter, and he certainly did not know anything about it - except, of course, that the goal is to catch prey. And he did just that. Gee, I can be a fighter and a hunter! However much he told himself and others that he could be a hunter, he knew he would never leave the role of a fighter to become a hunter.

It wasn't really a strain to her, but it was, to a point, but she, honestly, took it quite easy, and well. As they walked, she gave a nod to Eris's comment, a smile on her maw. "We are certainly not like the clans, and never will be, mercy is for the weak, and I would never, ever, use it term, ever." The co-commander replied firmly, eyes glowering in disgust at the mention of the clans. The clans were vile, very. vile, and she wouldn't dream of being like them. But, that anger and disgust was a bit short lived, as she looked toward Eris, with a smile. "As quick as a mouse, I suppose. Rogues are quite easy, if you know what your doing." She informed her calmly, trudging through the forest as she spoke, eyes glowing in the darkness of the area.
"Of course we're not like the clans. They hate us, we hate them- it's somewhat of a mutual disgust for each other, really. I liked them a bit better when the leaders seemed to actually be getting things done- at least they were proper rivals for awhile." Eris sighed, looking into the sky quietly. She had to admit- the clans seemed to be hyped up a lot more than she thought they needed to be. Surely they were their rivals, but it wasn't like there was a war going on, or just any active conflict. No clashing patrols, no invasions, no nothing. Everything was just as it always had been- quiet. Keeping her thoughts together, however, Eris didn't act like anything had been bothering her- to admit this could be grounds for imprisonment, an act of treason. Really, she'd prefer not to be locked up like a rat, lest she starved to death. "Of course I know what I'm doing- I'm a Dusk Syndicate cat, aren't I? I reckon we're the best rogue-catchers in the forest." She grinned playfully.

Eagle glared at Delvin seductively, giving him a couple once-overs. The irony of her more-than-one once-over made her laugh in her head. 'The things you do to attract the attention of toms,' she thought to herself. "Only 'same old?' That sounds boring," she said flirtatiously. She got up slowly, making sure that she calculated every move. She started walking seductively up to Delvin, despite him already being so close. She rubbed up against the tom, letting her tail go under his chin. "You seem tired, Delvin," she mewed, seemingly to worry about the tom. Maybe she did worry about him a little bit, though she had only known him for a day. 'Don't you dare get attached now,' she thought, hissing at herself in her mind. She circled the tom, then sat down close enough to seem like one very fat cat if someone else glanced at the two cats.
