Flutterkit raced out of the nursery, relieved to get away from the condemnation of facing up to her mistake. She sighed. It would be a long moon.

With a jolt, she realized she would be an apprentice in only a few moons. She certainly hoped this wouldn't push her ceremony back!

Suddenly, she was no longer hungry for the mouse atop the prey pile. She trudged in the direction of the elders' den sullenly.

Lavenderrose sashayed around the clearing, his newest vest Nicky done with a newer boa around his neck.

Smokekit lounged a bit, wondering if he’d ever be an apprentice or if he could just stay a kit forever, never having to do anything but make his designs and sleep.

Riverwood padded into her leader’s den. She nodded formally to Buckstar. “Hello, Buckstar,” she said in her usual tone. “I don’t mean to intrude, but I was wondering if there was any work to be done around camp?” She was very polite, and composed, but then again she was always polite and composed, so it shouldn’t really seem different at this point.

Flutterkit dragged her mouse out of the fresh-kill pile, picking at it anxiously. She had determined to finish it slowly so that she wouldn't have to go to the elders' den right away, but the fear that her punishment would prolong her apprentice ceremony had overridden her appetite. Suddenly, her ears perked up as she noticed two warriors talking near the edge of the clearing. She didn't recognize one of them-- was he new?

Padding up to them, she thrust her head between the two cats. "Hi," she mewed, interrupting their conversation unabashedly. "I'm Flutterkit!" She peering up into the tom's face. "I haven't seen you before. Are you new? Do you want to be friends? What's your name?" Once she had begun to chatter, it poured out of her like a waterfall, no end in sight. "Why are you talking to Dawntail?"

"No, I'm not new silly kit". Thistleripple snapped. "i've been here forever". He gruted. "Now, quit the questions, I'm allowed to talk to a friend, yes?"

Emberpaw let out a sigh of relief when a cat nodded in her direction. She didn't know which one he was, but thankfully Ravensong took care of that when he introduced himself by name. Convenient. So, Sycamorerain must be the white-furred tom with gray tabby markings, the one who nodded.

"Is Cinderstorm coming?" Ember asked, indicating her own greeting with a smile and a flick of her tail. Casual... as if she'd always been here, doing patrols with them. "I'm Ember."

She realized a beat late only half her name was given, 'paw' at the end still difficult to remember. Oh well. The calico stretched out her back, chest fur brushing the ground and haunches in the air; she didn't know what the stars to do on an herb patrol. "You know what we'll be looking for... right?" The question could have been directed at either Sycamorerain or Ravensong, whoever got to it first. Hopefully they weren't the type of cats who liked ridiculing for kittypet-beginnings. Emberpaw wasn't in the mood to defend herself today.

Ravensong looked to the apprentice. Who was Cinderstorm? “Um, no?” the scrappy-looking tom said. It’s not like he was new or anything, but since his joining he really hasn’t met that many cats. It didn’t matter, he’d find out soon enough.
