Default Re: WindClan Clearing

So much going on... so many cats talking over one another, and the one common theme; they all disliked Snowypaw being there. They knew well enough when they were no longer wanted, despite it seeming as though the kits were standing up for them. It made their heart swell with warmth as amidst the the talking, their blue eyes were shining focused on little Lionkit. Easily their favorite out of the group by far, emotions changing from one second to the next. The ebb and flow of being a kit, they remembered all too well.

Despite this, Snowypaw knew it was time to bow out. There were too many cats around for their liking. "I'll see you guys later," came the soft, hesitent farewell as they backed up, ears against their head and eyes darting around. No one would likely notice their disappearance - well, aside from the kits maybe. Which, come to think of it, didn't they prefer it that way? At least, that's what they were used to.

Once so full of life and optimism and excited for training, now padding through life with dashed spirits. Perhaps they should speak to Twilightstar about a change in mentors... Oh, but what would Gulltwist think?

Now out from the throng of gathered cats, the young apprentice turned and headed away, stopping just short of the leaders' den. Should they? Twilightstar had so much going on already, and... No. They wanted to go training. They wanted to explore. Taking a big breath in, they allowed their white paws to take them in the direction of the leaders den.

Beastkit didn't pull away from Leechkits grooming, instead, he stepped closer so it would be easier to be groomed. The brown tom probably looked horrible, but he couldn't tell. It was strange to have his littermates cleaning him. That was a job for Mother or Ashfeather, not his littermates. He listened as Leechkit spoke. Famous apparently meant known. That made sense. He liked the sound of adventure, an exciting journey. He wanted to go on an adventure, but only if his littermates came too. Looking up at Leechkit, he wondered if he would want to go on one with him. If Leechkit went, everyone else would too.

Beastkit shook off his fur and stumbled away from his brother and back to the white cat. Beastkit looked up at the white apprentice, who didn't look quite so sad anymore. He could tell it wasn't quite him who had brightened their mood. The apprentice seemed to already be happier. Beastkit wasn't an idiot, he only pretended to be. He could tell that Sad- no, Other Friend was happy because of Lionkit. Which, in turn, made him happy. When one of his littermates did the right thing it felt like it was him being rewarded. He grinned back up at the cat before turning back to the orange cat who was speaking.

Vultures were scary, he decided. He didn't like the sound of them one bit. Looking over to watery-eyed Lionkit, he pressed closer to her side. "Vul- vultures won't come into the camp, will they?" He needed reassurance that his family was safe. If anyone got carried off by the carrion birds... He couldn't think about it. Leechkit had already started working on his chubby sister's fur, grooming it the same way that he had Beastkit. Now that he was looking at her, she was dusty, which might explain the sudden bath.

Well, that was rude. He glared at the larger kit and hissed. "Leechkit! Mother said to be nice!" Leechkit sounded grumpy, but he had been the one to wake them up! Why was he acting tired. In Beastkits mind, grumpy meant tired and no one had ever told him otherwise. Beastkit moved to the side to make room for Lionkit as she shoved herself between the brothers.

As the orange cat spoke again, Beastkit drew back. "I'm not just a follower." The more the warrior spoke, the less Beastkit liked him. Insulting Leechkit, calling him nothing more than a follower, and scaring Lionkit did not put a cat on his good side. Looking to the pair of apprentices, he wanted to yell out and ask if that was all they thought he was. Leechkit's sidekick. Leechkit shouldn't tell Mean Cat about Mother. It would be good revenge, whatever that word meant.

It was nice of Snowypaw to introduce everyone. He was starting to lose track of everyone's nicknames, not that he'd admit it. So Tawnypaw was talking cat, Elderflare was mean cat, and Snowypaw was sad-not sad cat. Easy enough. Everyone was calling out on Snowypaw for his next question, calling it a subject change. Looking once more to Leechkit for answers he murmured, "What's a subject change?"

He stuck out his tongue at Elderflare before quickly drawing it back in. If Elderflare saw him, he'd be in too much trouble for it to matter. He was always talking about Leechkit, how great he was. Beastkit didn't mind being background noise, but Lionkit deserved to be recognized and it wasn't fair to be mean to Snowypaw. He had just been sad!

Beastkit toppled to the side when Lionkit stood up, matting his fur with dust. Yay, New Friend! Lionkit was repeating her name for Darkshadow, so he should too. "I'm Beastkit and this is Leechkit!" He gestured to Leechkit who hopefully wouldn't mind the introduction. Turning back to orange cat, he was at it again. "There's nothing wrong with being scared. It means your survival instincts are working. If I was never scared, I might challenge a vulture and die!" The first part didn't sound like him, he must of heard it somewhere. He wasn't quite sure what it meant to challenge a vulture, but nobody was allowed to say that scared cats didn't fit in clan life.[/CENTER]
“Heh, Good job standing up for yourself. I agree that fear is not useless and what I meant to say came out as that. I mean, You can’t really afford to have fear here. Like... If a Shadowclan warrior was bearing down on you, the time to think, fear, calculate is over before it started. Also, I was just kidding beastkit, I just called you followerkit to judge your personality. Hm, I have a question. You seem logical, so... how much time did you think about the possibility of getting in trouble before defending yourself? None? If so, that just proves my point.” he said. He then turned to Tawnypaw to address the other issues, such as the elder question. "It may not seem like it in this moment, but I am pretty wise for my age, and that is why I have the Prefix elder." "Well, to your second thing, those names I gave the kits were pretty rushed, as Leech told me about names and I took it literally and gave my first impressions of them. I will not say the other two are followers, but I stand firmly in my statement he is Leader. Who else but a leader would be looked to for answers almost as soon as the question was asked, and Who else but the leader of this team would groom his sibling when their mother is not? these seem to me at least, undeniable proofs." he said with no hesitation, ever quick to defend his honor, a hard thing to do when you shoot yourself in the foot by giving a weird name and then getting hated on by every one else.

Default Re: WindClan Leader's Den

Cautious paws stopped at the entrance of the den, unsure of whether or not they should continue. Their breath came in shallow gasps of air, lungs expanding and deflating quickly as their heart raced. Snowypaw, having just come from meeting the kits, now stood not only at the edge of Twilightstar's den but at the base of a big decision. They were almost certain it would cause a ridge between themselves and Gulltwist... although why that bothered them so much they couldn't be sure. They had really only met their mentor once, that time being assigned to a border patrol with them. And... they had been snapped at.

Why should they care how this affected Gulltwist's feelings? It's not like their training seemed to matter to her - ever consumed by the task of training Coldamber. It was... unfair, if someone were to ask Snowypaw. Unfair and something beyond their control. So, this was the only right thing to do.

"Um, excuse me, Twilightstar?" Their voice a bit quiet, soft undertones of hesitancy and doubt lingering among the words. Blue eyes glowed in the dim lighting as white paws brought them further in, adjusting to see what was further back into the den. Starts, they hoped she was here. It had taken quite a bit of time to muster up the courage to come here, and hot off the interaction that had left them feeling a bit unsure of their place in the Clan in general.

The molly’s ears burned as she let out an unintentional grunt, trying to maneuver herself with the intrusive contraption Peachfrost had plastered to her leg. Though it seemed, thankfully, no cat was close enough to hear, the lean cat made the hasty decision not to traverse much further into the clearing. The dull pain from her chest to her toes was actually only half the reason that the spotted warrior was so hesitant to drag herself much closer to her clanmates; Hawkflight, in her stint in the medicine den, had discovered the unpleasant world of spiraling thoughts. Aforementioned world led the she-cat to feel very, very embarrassed about her injuries- the ugly splint, the unfounded worry that she had lost everyone’s respect by flunking so hard in her first genuine battle, along with the less superficial brain worm of hesitance, fear, and harshness of having to so quickly accept the brutal aspects of reality.
Her first fight had been a failure, which meant she would have to prove herself to her clanmates once ready, deep down, though, she was terrified of finding herself in any battles again, which simply meant that she was a weak warrior, the hypothetical older cats were correct in their assumptions, and proving her worth was impossible. Hawkflight didn’t know what to make of the duality of emotions; surface level embarrassment clashing with nauseatingly strong distress at the mere thought of her attacker’s face. She’d no clue how to say anything despite being penned inside with other victims of the same few attacks, assuming that lamenting her own worries would be kit’s play compared to her mauled and dismembered clanmates’ stories.
The young cat’s gaze had long since left her leader, having been angled at the ground in front of her for some time. Shoulders gradually being drawn towards her face in an apparent attempt to conceal herself further, the molly began to notice blurring at the edges of her vision and furiously blinked it away, only to have the misting return moments later. Respect could wait; regardless of how pitiful it would be, Hawkflight really, really just wanted a hug.

For liz (Hawkflight)

If a hug was what Hawkflight wanted, then she wasn't in luck today.

Embershard had chosen her to sit next to during the Clan meeting and by her was almost never a good spot to have. Her broken leg considered, though, it was quite possible Hawkflight's luck was better than most others would have been. Albeit the poor fool had tried to hide herself during a Clan meeting and Embershard's primary reason when selecting her seat was to show Hawkflight she couldn't conceal herself as easily as she'd thought. Who sulked in the shadows during a public affair, anyway?

Embershard knew the answer to that--it was someone pathetic. That alone told her all she needed to know about this new Warrior.

"Why did you think you could slink back here and cry like a weakling?" Her voice bordering on a hiss, Embershard tilted her head, chin facing the sky. "What kind of message do you think this sends to everyone else? If you want to be a Warrior then get over yourself and return to the clearing."

Finchbreeze padded up to the Breezerock, a look of worry on her face. Meetings were usually exciting, but lately everything was always filled with anger. She knew a fight with shadowclan was inevitable, and every tim it was brought up she could feel the unease rippling through the crowd. A fight with a clan as fierce as they were was hard to prepare for, and she knew it was something nobody wanted, especially after a dog attack.

Ryecloud's whole body was aching. But that was nothing
compared to the pain radiating from her belly.
Every singe step was so painful that she thought
it would be the last one she could bear.

Finally, she had the medicine den in sight. She frantically
Half walked, half dragged herself over and collapsed
near the enterance to the den.

"Peachfrost!" She meant for it to be a screech.
But it barely came out as more than a pained whisper.

Instead of the usual excitement, hearing her name called sent a shiver down Finchbreeze's spine. She was patrolling the shadowclan border. Not only was it normally dangerous, but tensions between the two clans were high, so who knows what they might do to them if they were caught. But as much as she didn't want to go, she knew she would be punished otherwise, so she didn't really have a choice.

"Leafsky, Thistlehawk, Fernfrost!", she called, scanning the clearing for her patrol mates. "Let's go." She was a bit nervous, but she knew they needed to report back whatever they can. Shadowclan was not someone to be messed with.

There was this voice deep in his brain that told him everything was going to go wrong, he wanted to be an apprentice but what if he actually didn't? It wouldn't be unlikely for him to get injured out there, did he really want to risk his life like that?

He was excited as he sat with his clanmates, his paws itched to run along the open moor and to chase rabbits. This is what he'd been waiting his entire life for, so it had to make him happy. When he imagined his life serving his clan he was happy. So he was going to be happy, that tiny voice was nothing. The albino looked eagerly up at the leader as his thoughts wandered, expecting to be made an apprentice by her soon.

Otterleap stepped out of the warriors' den. He spotted Bearkit and sat next to him.
"Is something wrong?" Otterleap was sure that Bearkit was fine, but something made him feel like Bearkit wasn't as excited as he should be.

Twilightstar blinks her single eye as a kit just walked into her den. Not that she was picky about who came into her den or not, but it was polite to announce yourself or so that is what she taught her kits. The leader didn't particularly mind it, so no harm was done. Seakit immediately jumped into what his problem was, reporting about Otterleaf and somehow that connected to Moonsoot. Ah, Moonsoot. It was almost eerie with how deadset the kit was on knowing his father was gone.

"I've heard no report of Otterleap having trouble with kits, but I'll make sure to look into it so it doesn't happen again." She wasn't sure if she was getting the whole story but depending on Otterleap side, it was unlikely he'd get much worse than a verbal warning.

"Sadly, I did find Moonsoot's body during a scout around the territory, he hunts with StarClan now." Twilightstar was never good with relaying such news to kin, she always felt she was far too blunt, but there was a heavy amount of regret in her tone. The leader kept an eye on Seakit, watching his reaction to the news.

For @Angelique (Specklehiss)
For Moonraven (Twilightstar)

At Specklepaw's attempt at a threat, Embershard broke out in a voracious laugh. Did Specklepaw really think she'd ever be enough to lay a claw on her? If she had a shred of intelligence in that delayed head of hers, she'd know so much as a threat Embershard's way was a horrible idea. If Embershard so much as saw Specklepaw anywhere near the border she'd kill her without hesitation. And if she needed to, she'd blame her death on whoever she could.

After checking to ensure she had chased Specklepaw out of WindClan, Embershard snorted disdainfully. She couldn't uphold this tedious process of keeping weaklings out of her life on her own since she wasn't in charge around here. So she'd have to take it up with Twilightstar.

Great. That was just what she'd wanted to end her day with.

She stepped near Twilightstar's den immediately after arriving in camp, golden eye burning with hatred for her worthless, weak former Apprentice. Even she had helped with the dogs and she was the cat who'd set up the attack--the attack that thankfully helped her weed out Specklepaw from the mix of competent cats who actually served their purposes.

"Specklepaw has left WindClan," she announced. Paws firmly on the ground, Embershard leaked confidence. She knew Specklepaw's departure had nothing to do with her mentorship. No, that foolish, wounded Apprentice was just too broken to be fixed. "I want permission to kill her on sight if she reappears in our territory."

The lilac leader's eye danced over to the entrance of her den as she caught the incoming paw steps drawing near. There was no greeting or question to enter, just a mild pause, and then the dark pelted she-cat sweep right in. Twilightstar sat up a bit straight, observing Embershard, with a cold expression. The molly had a nasty air about her, dark, disturbed, it reminded her greatly of Dawnstar, not nearly as intense nor as terrifying, but dark nonetheless. It wasn't like she was trying to hide it either, the hatred that smoldered within her golden eyes wasn't as obsessive or deranged as that dark tabby, but certainly close.

"I figured she'd be gone with how she just up and left the clan to deal with the dogs," Twilightstar responded in an even tone, untroubled by Embershard's urge to kill the apprentice. Death seemed like a bit excessive, and once upon a time Twilightstar would have tried to reason with the molly about it, but considering how many cats had seen Specklepaw just walking away when the dogs arrived, Twilightstar was finding it difficult to forgive the cat.

"It would be foolish for her to return, but if you see her on our territory, you have permission to kill her."

It seemed that her kits were out and about today, she had spotted the big brown kit trailing behind a larger gray tom carrying a chunky furball in his maw on her way in. The three seemed rather preoccupied and Twilightstar knew they'd all focus on her if they caught sight of her. It felt a little silly hiding from her kittens, but Twilightstar really wanted them to make friends and grow strong bonds with the cats in the clan. She had failed to do so, and it did impact her strongly now that she was older. Having cats that looked out for them and them in return would be wonderful. Twilightstar wanted her kits happy, strong, and loved, she'd prefer if they learned how to rely on each other instead of her, putting a bit of distance between them seemed like a good idea.

Twilightstar was drawn from her thoughts at the soft voice that came from the front of her den. She had a meeting to call in a few, a lot to say and decide on. Even so, her clanmate's needs came first. "Come in," Twilightstar yawned quietly, stretching out her body as she readjusted herself into a sitting position. She recognized the snow-white pelt that belonged to the young apprentice as soon as the cat stepped inside. "Snowypaw, something you need?"

High Rank Announcement [#hrannouncement]

As her clan gathered, Twilightstar peered around at the many faces looking up at her. The number of injuries cats was rather high, between the dog attack and Batglare's patrols skirmish, not to mention the number of deaths she had to announce. Squirreldash, Moonsoot, Featherfur, Thistlestrike, and so on. It was hard for Twilightstar to be all that uplifting with all the negativity, but with a sigh, she squared her shoulders and fixed her expression into something a bit more serene. This was life, just like every other hardship WindClan has faced they'd get through it. It was her job to make sure that they did, WindClan would prevail.

"I am not certain how many of you are aware of the happenings around the clan." Twilightstar knew that some cats just didn't pay attention and others might just want to block it all out. Whether they were up to date or not, didn't really matter, Twilightstar would explain it all in a moment. "We have much to discuss, but before that, we have some ceremonies to do." Tell her clan about the disaster that is Dawnstar and their dog troubles, and then expecting them to cheer happily for new apprentices felt like she'd be asking for too much.

"Bearkit ( @Cian ) and Mushroomkit ( @-Skyfall- )."
The leader called the pair of kits up with a sharp twitch of her ear.
