Sandwhisker padded out of the den, disappointed, but still held her head high.
I know I'm special, she thought. I just have to find something that clicks with me...

Blueheart padded into Lionstar's den "Lionstar I have experience with herbs, I am passionate caring, and smart." she mewed sitting infront of her leader.

"Lionstar?" Goosepaw hovered outside of the den, his head the only body part he dared to place inside. "I'm not here to ask for Shiverpetal's position, but..." To offer his condolences, right? That's why he was there. "From the way you were talking, it seemed like you two were close. Which, I mean, is probably important for a leader and a medicine cat to be close, but it sounded like you two were friends, right?" Great, he was rambling. How terrific. "I just... sorry, I'm probably bothering you, you're probably really busy, but I just wanted to say sorry. For you- er, for your loss. I know it must be hard." Stars, was that too much? It felt almost like too much. Goosepaw pulled the rest of himself into Lionstar's den, eyeing the leader nervously. He really wasn't in the mood to get walloped upside the head right then.

Lionstar squinted his eyes at Blueheart. "No amount of your fake herbal knowledge can compare to a medicine cat, and I freaking said I wanted a cat that stood out in a crowd! You're more bland than one of those ThunderClan cats. That rock," he jabbed his paw toward the rock in the corner of his den; "that has more of an engaging personality than yours! If I wanted a generic medicine cat, I would have picked Cherrykit!

"Now get out of my sight! NEXT!"

"Um well... yes, I haven't seen her in 3 days." Owlflight looked genuinely concerned for his missing apprentice.

Lionstar leaned in close to Owlflight, voice lowered to a curious whisper.

"Have you tried using your eyes?"

Eveningpaw hesitantly padded into the den, tail-tip twitching with fear. Lionstar had always seemed like a kind, strong cat to her but with the outburst with Fennelheart in the clearing and the steady stream of cats exiting with a shocked look on their faces, the russet apprentice wasn't so sure. Still, she wanted to try.

After all, I'm a terrible apprentice. About as good as a three-moon-old kit. What else could I do with my life that would help the clan?

She took a deep breath and lifted her head to face the leader.

"L-Lionstar, I'm a terrible apprentice." She began. "I hardly ever catch anything for the clan, I'm a terrible fighter, and I'm about as helpful as a newborn kit." Even as she said it, she winced. It hadn't occurred to he until now that Lionstar might punish her, but she had to press on. What else could Eveningpaw do?

"It's just- I was thinking maybe I'd actually be of use to my clan as a- well, not a medicine cat, really, I-I can't imagine having somecat's life in my paws, but like- like a helper of sorts. I bet I could be good at gathering herbs and cobwebs! And doing whatever the new medicine cat would need me to, I guess..."

She faltered, looking down at her paws again.

This was a bad idea, wasn't it?

Lightstreak entered the den. "Lionstar!" she yelled. "I have come-not for the position, but to implore that you make sure the next medicine cat knows to not give their patients too much poppy seeds! I have heard that a cat got addicted to them and then died from eating them too much! We don't want that to happen again-we need our clan-mates!"

Owlflight looked at the leader, annoyed. Really? Can't he take a missing cat more seriously? "Really? That's what you going to say to me about my missing apprentice!" Owlflight unsheathed his claws as he growled at him and padded for the exit. "I'll find her myself!" He snarled back at the leader.

Mossflame padded into the den. "Lionstar, I have little experiance with herbs, but I stand out because I am gruff and I do kinda have trouble dealing with kits but I will help them, though. I am also willing to fight for herbs, and I care for my clan above all..." But what about Feathertream? My mate? Will she approve...
