Ghost nodded, panicking slightly. She ran over to the front of the herd, and once she was in front of them, she growled fiercely, barking as they skidded to a halt. Instead of trampling her and the others, they changed direction, speeding away.

Ghost couldn’t stop her own tail from wagging a little. “Of course,” she nodded, watching the forest, as though the deer would emerge from it any second.

Pochi sat up and took a breather, he had caused a failed hunt that could have a costly problem with the pack. He felt terrible... . He kept his ears and nose in the game for any sign of the deer, but he was sure they were long gone.
