"No problem," Beshte nodded. "I'll catch you later, that water hole has my name on it," he walked passed Kion and headed away, humming the song as he did.

"You sure haven't showed it," Sade refused to look him. "Koja's gonna find me and take me back home, where I really belong."

Usiku said nothing, shutting his eyes closed. "You have no idea, do you?" He suddenly said, looking at her. "How much Koja hates me for something that I didn't mean for to happen. She wasn't even his mother, and yet..." He covered his eyes with a paw, his shoulders slumped forward. "I didn't mean it. I didn't mean it." He whispered to himself.

(Great, Sade, you made him feel vulnerable.)
(I think it's a girl's name, by the way.)

"Bye." Kion watched him go, thoughtful, then turned and headed off.
"Where you goin'?" Suddenly Kila fell into step with him.
"Dunno yet." Kion glanced sideways at her. "Well if it isnt my twin sister back from who-knows-where. Care to tell me where you've been all this time?" He teased. "What kind of adventure did you go on? And dont say you didnt because I know you too well."
Kila laughed a little, although her eyes flickered with an unreadable expression. "You wouldnt believe me if I told you."
"Try me." Kion challenged with a grin.
Kila glanced at him, then rolled her eyes and gave a small smirk. "Alright, fine. Only on one condition."
"What?"
"I havent played tag in a while." Kila stretched as she walked. "And I can tell you havent had some normal cub-fun, either. So, you catch me, I tell you everything."
"Deal." Kion snickered.
"Great." Kila winked at him. With that, she bounded forward, passing Beshte. She leaped onto one of the rocks, and kicked herself off, landing on the other side of the watering hole. Then she turned to watch her brother, smirking. "Then come catch me, slug head!"
"You're on!" Kion shot after her through the water, not even caring that he was getting his fur wet.
Kila let out a loud shriek of laughter, spinning around and darting off. "I wont make it easy for you!"
"You wont have to!" Kion retorted, taking off after her with a smile.
(Because sibling fun :3)

Usiku focused his eyes on Sade. "Your mother... I loved her dearly. She was the brilliant sun, the one who helped me keep my anger from spilling out. However... she was the one who took the brunt of it, a few days after your birth. We were out, walking along one of our favorite paths through the Outlands while Koja was watching over you. We were having a minor argument about giving you both to a pair of more... adept parents, and she didn't want to deal with the fact that we couldn't feed you two. Heck, we couldn't feed ourselves since Zira had control over the limited food supply." Usiku looked away from Sade. "I had kept my anger bottled up, and it had to spill out at the worst time... I lashed out at her, raising my voice, roaring at her. Ever hear the expression 'blind with rage'? That was exactly what happened. I couldn't see. I couldn't think. She tried to calm me down, but I hit her with my paw, knocking her down and..." He inhaled sharply, closing his eyes so that Sade wouldn't see the tears threatening to spill out. His shoulders shuddered, and he lowered his head. "There had been a rock right where her head landed. Seeing her laying so still, so peacefully... I calmed down in an instant and in that moment I understood why she had died so easily. I could count her ribs, I could see her bones. She was suffering, giving her share of food to you cubs, while I gave my food to her. We both were starving. And why? Why were starving?" He raised his head, eyes focused on the horizon where Priderock stood. "Because this land. The pride that rules over this land is selfish, hoarding all of the food and banishing those of us who don't conform to their precious 'Circle of Life'. Who spend time saving those who don't need saving, preventing those of us who need the food to live from hunting. Have you ever wondered why hyenas were banished from the Pridelands? It was because they were doing their jobs, finishing off the leftovers that the lions didn't eat. And the lions who live here are selfish, ignoring the plight of their own kind in the Outlands and demanding that we give them food if we ever step foot on their grass. One pride does not need this much land, and yet they keep it."

Usiku paused, sucking in a deep breath. His eyes threatened to spill out tears once more. "It's because of them that your mother died so easily. It was because of them that we were even having the argument that led up to their death. Every day, I regret what I had done. Every day, I don't want to get up. I want to die, to be with her once more. And every day, my anger for the Pridelands grows." He turned to look at her. "Do you see why it is pure folly for you to be here?" He asked softly.
