WindClan: Life Before 2023's Fire

Wolffang padded out of the WindClan camp, hoping that Leechpaw and Morningpaw were following. Leechpaw was... difficult, to say the least. He saw the potential in the massive dark gray tom, but he was rude, blunt, and disrespectful. Was that just his personality? Or was it because he had spent so much time with Ashfeather? Wolffang scowled. Luckily, Ashfeather hadn't made him too soft, but she had probably told him all sorts of things about WindClan's deputy. Morningpaw, on the other paw... well, he was glad that they'd made up in a way. She wouldn't forgive him for what he'd done, but she was willing to start over, and Wolffang felt like that was more than he deserved. Both of his apprentices needed training and now was the time to do that.

It was warm for a leaf-bare day, with scattered clouds about. Wolffang stopped out on the open moor and let the breeze whip through his fur. It felt great, although it did bring memories of that awful windstorm. "Alright." Wolffang turned toward Leechpaw and Morningpaw. "Morningpaw, you know how to hunt already. However, I must teach Leechpaw." One ear twitched as he looked at the dark gray tom. I'll need to teach him some respect. "So, Leechpaw, as you are aware, WindClan cats mainly run to catch their prey. However, they can't just race after it if they are too far away. At times, we will need to creep closer toward our prey before chasing it. But I'll go over that with you later."

"Now, when running, you want to push your paws hard into the ground and let them guide you. Put force and power into it and let your front paws guide you while your back ones push off, giving you strength, power, and speed. We are called WindClan because we run just like the wind. Watch." Wolffang started to run forward, as he had so many times before. His paws pushed hard into the ground and guided him. He did turns, moving fluidly and surprisingly fast for his large, sturdy build. The tom's muscles bunched underneath his thick coat. Then he headed back to Leechpaw. "You try." He glanced over at Morningpaw. "We'll catch up in a moment. Perhaps you could begin hunting while I teach Leechpaw how to hunt."

A patrol. A head patrol. Finally. Bravebird felt that same familiar pride she felt every day waking up as a WindClan warrior. Only this time, it was stronger - she was actually leading a patrol. After what had occurred with Softleaf and that whole fiasco, and Twilighstar's reassuring words, the fiery she-cat had remained rather quiet. Biting her tongue and going about her business rather than butting her nose into every other cats' business. But now, with her name called from the deputy's tongue and two warriors tasked to join her, the fawn colored she-cat trotted up with her tail held high and shoulders back.

"You two ready to go?" she asked as she arrived, dipping her head to each of them but skipping any vocalized greeting. In her mind it would simply waste time they didn't have. The border needed to be remarked, and while Bravebird was disappointed she hadn't been given the ShadowClan border, at least the ThunderClan border would be quick and quiet.

"So... dogs are coming for you," Oatpaw huffed, exiting the apprentice's den, looking to make sure that Wheatpaw was there as well. His fur fluffed up and bristled at the thought of it again. "I wouldn't let a clanmate be hurt like that. If the dogs want to come and hurt you, I'll stop them," Oatpaw puffed out his chest, trying to seem brave, but was very clearly shaking still at the thought of it.

The young molly looked at him when he called her Bunny Rabbit. It was the first time she had ever been called yet, but hey she had always wanted a nickname and now she was getting one. She felt proud of herself. She felt she was already starting to feel welcomed. "I do know how to hunt, but I really don't know how you guys do your hunters crouch. Mine is pretty messy, so that would be the best way to start. I've also never caught a rabbi before.", Rabbitpaw replied.

Sunshade hummed thoughtfully. It would be hard to teach the hunter's crouch to someone missing a leg, but they could make it work! He would make sure of it! The torbie nodded and grinned. "Alrighty! But before we do that, I gotta show you the territory. Can't have you getting lost!"

“Ah I see! An interesting tale indeed. Hmm were to start? Well it started at night. Most cats were asleep. Shadowclan was able to sneak in without much trouble. In a blur they attacked our sleeping warriors, the foxhearts! Despite being strong our warriors were still groggy from sleep, and loosing badly. Then Twilightstar yowled from the thick of the battle. She declared to the winning Shadowclan warriors that her clan was strong and would prevail. This made the Windclan warriors rally their strength and in the end we won!” She was glad the warrior was taking an interest in their more recent history. She wondered vaguely what stories she would tell when she became an elder. Maybe this would be one of them.

Robinfeather stalked through the heather, pricking her ears as she heard a scraping sound. She continued forward, gently pressing her paws against the dirt, sand, and grass. She crept towards a small, slightly muddy puddle. Robinfeather took a sip from the puddle, flicking her tail. Her tail puffed out as she heard a rustling sound, and she turned around.

Robinfeather noticed a mice crawling through the sand, and she pounced at it. It squeaked in fear and ran away, before slipping between a pile of small stones. The stones had some sort of mouse burrow underneath them. She flicked her tail in anger and knocked over the rocks.

Tigerpaw slowly approached Twilightstar's den. She shuddered, afraid she might get sent away. She worked up confidence and mewed. "Twilightstar? Um, I have to say something. I, um... found a badger's den while I was training with Mossnose. Would you like me to show you where it is?"

The lilac leader raised her head as the young apprentice entered her den. Tigerpaw, out of habit, her eye scanned the apprentice's body looking for any sign of damage or anything that she needed to be concerned about. She appeared alright, but the news she brought was concerning. "Badger den?" She meowed, fur already bristling with displeasure at the thought of those foul creatures. "Is there some reason Mossnose didn't bring this to my attention alongside you?" Not that Twilightstar would ever doubt her clanmate's claims, but experience and training made a difference. She didn't want to cause a fuss if there was nothing to worry about.
