scorpionpaw was confused to say the least. this was new. he didn't mind change in and of itself, the concept was actually rather exciting. but it was also highly uncomfortable. Bumblestar was truly all he knew. She'd been in charge for as long as his existence in Thunderclan mattered. A constant of sorts. He refused to acknowledge the hypocrisy of this discomfort as an instigator of chaos and discord himself. He actually didn't know what hypocrisy was, so how could he?
He settled next to Spiderpaw, a fellow apprentice that he had taken a begrudging fondness towards. Her cheery demeanor was grating and got on his nerves, but he had adapted all the same. "Spiderstar, Flintclaw, Dragonflypaw," he called out in unison with the others, his voice less enthusiastic than his friend's. He had no qualms with any of the new high ranks. He didn't really know any of them well, although it was a little strange to him that someone younger than him was now in a position of authority. He wouldn't even trust someone his own age to be a high rank.
"If you become leader one day do they have to call you Spiderstar the Second?" he whispered to Spiderpaw, half-joking.
Spiderpaw glanced at Scorpionpaw as he sat next to her, casting a timid but kind smile his way, unaware of his inner thoughts. Bright green eyes widened at his joke, and she shook her head vigorously. Waving her tail as if shooing away bugs. "O-Oh no! I don't think we'll ever have that problem..." She mewed softly, an anxious chuckle escaping her. "I-I doubt I'll ever be anywhere close to leadership rank..." Although, this was the first time somecat pointed that out to her. And now it made her wonder...what if cats did expect a certain amount of greatness from her because of her name? Her and Spiderstar weren't related, but that name carried some weight to it now... Like with Dragonflypaw.
The thought was horrifying. Mortifying even. What if she didn't live up to everycat's expectations?! I'll just...have to work extra hard then! Yes, that was the only solution. She just had to work super hard, and surely her effort will be recognized. At least until they realized she wasn't anything special.
Acornfall purred in greeting to Nightwhisper as his friend sat next to him, but then his expression grew more solemn at his comment. "Yes...it feels as though everything is changing." He mewed softly in agreement, but there was no anxiety in his voice. Spiderstar was more than capable, they were in good paws. Though it was still a lot to take in. He looked down at Breezey with a purr at her words, licking her affectionately between her ears. "Of course you will! I have no doubts!" He chirped, keeping his voice down so as to not disturb the other cats. There were enough...distractions in the clearing right now.

Nightwhisper didn't react as Cloverkit sat inbetween him and Acornfall. Leaning against Acornfalls leg.
Nightwhisper gave a small sigh. "I just fear what me and your kits are growing into...everyday it seems something bad is edging closer but I can't put my tail on it" Nightwhisper commented in a quiet mew. The experienced warrior had lots of knowledge when it came to battles and when they were brewing up. "All I know is if a filthy Riverclanner puts a paw on my kits or mate. I don't mind a little blood on my paws" Nightwhispers eyes turned protective. He noticed Weepingwillow giving him a look of warning, she'd overheard. Nightwhisper gave her a gentle yet reluctant nod.

His eyes narrowed as only 4 apprentices stepped forwards, three were missing. One being his own. Annoyance bubbled in his chest. CLOUDEDPAW , SAGEPAW AN SUNFLOWERPAW!" he bellowed, voice echoing across the clearing. "I AIN'T WAITIN ON YA. GET YOUR BUTTS UP HERE!" he barked.
The calico lashed his tail. He had many kit ceremonies to do as well. Catch the clan up, especially since it fell behind a decent amount. If they took any longer he'd just proceed with out them.

Floating in outer space, have I misplaced a part of my soul?
Lost in the in-between, or so it seems, I'm out of control
Floating in outer space, have I misplaced a part of my soul?
Lost in the in-between, but it can't keep me asleep for long 'cause
I still feel alive

Milkbee was never great at reading facial expressions. But she'd been with Risingstorm long enough to understand what he was feeling behind the stoic mask of his. Gently nudging her children with her nose, the queen purred. She wasn't sure why Thunderkit never really responded to her calls, so she resorted to pushing him into the right direction or gesturing with her tail.
"My loves, would you like to go cuddle your father? He's looking a bit lonely out there alone, don't you think?" She smiled sweetly, stepping out of the Nursery and approaching Risingstorm with a purr. She gently touched her nose to his cheek and offered his untorn ear an affectionate lick. "You're doing great, love. Not a day goes by where I don't appreciate you for all the hard work you do."

Woah. Big mama cat wants to go? Where? Outside? Where big papa cat is at? Thunderkit glanced around at his littermates, just to confirm whether his thoughts were true or not. After getting some sort of confirmation, he shakily but eagerly padded out of the Nursery to join his mother and father, plopping down onto big papa cat's fluffy tail.

Cicadapaw’s ears perked the instant the rasping call broke through the camp. He jerked his head toward the Stormcrest, heart skipping a beat. Bumblestar? She sounded terrible, but she was standing and speaking.
He moved closer with the rest of the Clan, weaving to the front without really realizing it, eyes wide as he stared up at her. She looked... well, awful. Like a ghost barely clinging to flesh. But she stood tall anyway, like she always did. And then she started speaking. The words felt strange in his ears. Not wrong, exactly, but heavier than he expected.
Cicadapaw blinked. He glanced at Spiderthroat. Then back at her. Back and forth, like the pieces would make more sense if he kept comparing them. She was stepping down. On her own. Not from a wound, not from a challenge. Just… letting go. He hadn’t let himself consider that possibility. But he didn’t feel angry or scared, just surprised. And maybe a little breathless. By the time she'd finished and stepped down, Cicadapaw didn’t know what to say.
---
Cicadapaw's eyes followed his father as he climbed to the edge of the stormcrest next.
He listened and then blinked, a little stunned at how fast everything was moving. He’d barely finished processing the first shock - Bumblebreak stepping down - and now Spiderthroat was up there, voice firm and heavy, already laying down law, already naming a deputy. But he guessed it wasn’t bad.
As Spiderstar spoke, Cicadapaw found himself slowly sitting taller, taking in the sharpness of his father’s words. The apprentice knew he meant every word of it: the praise for Bumblebreak, the warning to the rest of the Clan, the need for ThunderClan to keep climbing instead of coasting.
He even gave a small smile in agreement when he named Flintclaw deputy. That made sense. The warrior had been steady, dependable. And more than anything, it was Spiderstar's tone, the confidence, that settled him.
---
Then Spiderstar kept going. More announcements. More ceremonies to come.
Hollowpaw had left? His brows furrowed. He’d known Hollowpaw was struggling. Who wasn’t, after everything? But to leave the Clan? Completely? He shook his head, disappointed.
And just as he was starting to sit with that; the announcement of Dragonflycliff's passing. The world didn’t stop, he hadn't known her personally, but he was still shocked. He swallowed hard. She’d fought so hard. She survived the worst of it. And now…?
But he didn’t have time to process it, not fully. Because then, the next surprise. His head jerked up, eyes snapping to his sister as she was called up. Dragonflykit. It took a moment for the shock to crack, but when it did, it came with a quiet, unshakable pride. He rose to his paws. And he called out - not just loud enough for her to hear, but for the whole clearing: “You’ll be brilliant, Dragonflypaw!"
---
Then, what he hoped would be the last surprise of the morning - Butterflypaw was gaining her warrior name. Cicadapaw’s ears perked immediately, and he scanned the crowd until he spotted her. There. His face split into a grin - of course she’d be the first of them to make it. Determined, always pushing forward. He felt a familiar spark of competitiveness light in his chest. Figures. I’ll have to catch up soon.
Sunflowerpaw bounded forward at Spiderthroat’s call. “Sorry, Spiderthroat!”
The massive, golden she-cat cast Mountaintalon—her mentor—and Mothflame—the cat who had conducted her assessment—a grateful look before turning her attention back to the ThunderClan leader. She flicked her ears, hoping that the calico could see the apology in her eyes for her lateness.

Silverleopard gave a whisk of her tail. “Not much. I went hunting with Reddove, because you know me and my knack for finding prey easily,” she chuckled, her whiskers twitching.
