Dawnstrike stretched out and licked her newborn kit, with tiny mewling coming from it as she blindl crawled over to her mother's belly and latched on, drinking as much as she could and was soon full. Dawnstrike took the kit gently by the scruff, and groomed it after putting it down. She licked the tiny kit dry and the kit fell asleep.

The black tom paced anxiously in front of the medicine den, where his apprentice lay unconscious. Glancing around camp, his gaze caught on the nursery, where Dawnstrike was soon to be kitting. With one last nervous glance at the medicine den, he started across the clearing. Poking his head into the cozy den, he let his eyes adjust to the darkness. “Dawnstrike?” He whispered.
