He had to stop himself from literally exploding with joy as Dawnstar gave him his new name and his mentor. Vixensnarl, tha absolutely amazing warrior he'd already gotten a little bit of training from. Smolderingpaw forced himself to remain calm as he reached up to touch his nose to hers. His eyes shone and his red tail quivered, and he gave Vixensnarl an obedient nod.

When Dawnstar carried on, he shot his new mentor a look of wonder. She'd fought foxes and gotten out alive? With others, of course, but still... how FREAKING cool was that?? Stars above, he was about to be the coolest apprentice around with her guidance.

His ears flipped back at the news of Mintbranch's disgraceful behavior. Oh, it fit the name of the rank, yes it did! But others were calling for execution, because... honestly, yeah, what the HECK. Mintbranch had just sat back and let two of the coolest cats he knew almost DIE. Scowling, Smolderingpaw spat, "Bury him! How dare he!"

Execution, always execution... Shrewstone thoughtfully forced his expression to remain neutral and composed. He was not squeamish about death or blood and some cats did deserve the execution but it was difficult not to assume Dawnstar always went there simply because she wanted to. He had to grant the leader that at least recently she'd been leaving the choices to the clan more frequently but he was sure if the clan didn't go with the massive she-cat's wishes she'd simply disregard them anyway. Nonetheless, Shrewstone felt he had to add his voices to the, in his mind, reasonable of the clan and hopefully undermine those he viewed as simply seeking out the option they believed Dawnstar was looking for. "Sitting back and watching his clanmates suffer is cowardice and disgraceful, but that's exactly what the rank was created for, was it not? His claws did not mar Ivysnake, nor Vixensnarl and Deadwish. And unless he led those foxes to them, he was not directly responsible for what happened, only guilty of being a coward and a disgrace. Let his actions be a lesson for all of Shadowclan that cowardice is disgraceful and unbefitting a warrior."

There was a tilt of the mollys head at the mention of a challenge. She hadn't seen one of those in sometime, not since herself and Frostscreech challenged Brackenfire. That would be quite interesting to see. Next, Mintbranch. Her fur ruffled as the Shadow Queen spoke of Mintbranch's indiscretion, and her eyes narrowed. With a glare shot at Shadefrost, the forever queen piped up.

"Personally, I think we should kill him. Any cat, no matter the rank, that sits back and allows not only their Clanmates to be attacked but their kin too is not fit for ShadowClan life." Her blue eyes watched the leader intensely, glowing with curiosity and a touch of her own bloodlust. "I know I would love nothing more than to sink my claws into his throat myself." These words were said with a snarl, shot directly at the tom in question.

Shadefrost let out a surprised laugh as the Shadowclan queen spoke, her words seeming to hint at a particularly bloodthirsty demeanor. "Whoa, you're on a real killing spree today," he jested, the tone of his voice conveying a playful teasing. Then, with a mockingly sarcastic voice, he continued, "Did you wake up on the wrong side of your moss bed or something?"

The Enforcer noticed Smolderingpaw's tail quivering in excitement, but he managed to remain calm, which pleased her immensely. She wouldn't discourage excitement, but making a fool out of yourself in public because of it wasn't something she would tolerate.

Vixensnarl stepped back once she had touched noses with Smolderingpaw to allow Dawnstar to continue her announcement. First was Mirehound's challenge to Cougarivy, and she leaned down to speak to her apprentice without disturbing the others. "You should watch. It will be a good opportunity to see how the elites of ShadowClan battle."

The next topic was the one she had been waiting for. It was finally time for Mintbranch to pay for his actions, and a pleased smirk curled across Vixensnarl's maw as Smolderingpaw called for his death. "Mintbranch is not a Clanmate I would ever trust to watch my back again. He would have let us die, and there's no coming back from that. I want him dead."

The Toyger was pleased as Singepaw seemed to settle comfortably beside him while the meeting continued. Despite having been in ShadowClan for many moons, he hadn't been born here. In fact, Slytiger had been a rogue for most of his life. There had been a nagging feeling of worry in the back of his mind that Singepaw wouldn't want him as a mentor because of that, but that didn't seem to be the case.

Dismissing his thoughts, the striped tom listened as Dawnstar announced that Mirehound would be challenging Cougarivy for the position of Enforcer Commander and immediately saw a training opportunity. "Singepaw, I'm going to require you to go to the fight between Mirehound and Cougarivy. While you watch, I want you to observe how the two experienced cats fight, but look for things that you think they could have done better or they did well. Afterward, you'll tell me what you thought, and we'll go over the fight and general battle tactics."

While this wasn't exactly an average training experience for apprentices, Slytiger thought it would be good for Singepaw to see what a real battle between warriors would look like. Plus, it would be more enjoyable than him just droning on about tactics.

Dawnstar's following announcement about Mintbranch caused the fur to prickle along the warrior's spine and a growl to rumble in his throat. Typically Slytiger wasn't one to be so expressive of anger, but this issue was an exceptionally touchy subject for him. "If I may, Dawnstar, Mintbranch should be executed. I came to ShadowClan to find a home and a purpose. To find cats I could trust to watch my back as I would watch theirs so I wouldn't have to look over my shoulder anymore. The behavior that Mintbranch displayed is that of a rogue, only helping others when it benefits them and not willing to risk his pelt for cats he doesn't care about. I guarantee that becoming a Disgrace won't change him, and he'd instantly return to his old ways. Mintbranch needs to be put down for the safety of everyone."

A serious fault was presented here, Blackhawk let out a short growl, what he hated... it was the cats whodon't have any honor or those who don't care about the others, saying that, he was one of them not so long ago... but he don't cared about his thoughts right now... he just said "Kill, he is a danger for everyone here, I totally agree with my clanmates, he is a public danger, he is at this moment the rotted apple on the tree, kill and make him suffer, that's my vote."

Moonpaw sat quietly in a corner, gazing with dark amber eyes at the condemned cat named Mintbranch and her clanmates' angry yowls at him. Dawnstar seemed deadly as always, but the apprentice was actually surprised by the fact that the pitiless leader had actually given the warrior a chance to redeem himself. A mere chance, but still something.
Well, you shouldn't leave your clanmates to die when you are a warrior. Mintbranch should just leave, in my opinion.

But of course, that wouldn't happen in Shadowclan.

Just let him be a disgrace? Had dawnstar gone soft? "Dawnstar! With all due respect, Mintbranch did leave IvySnake, one of our Medicine cats, for crowfood! Being a disgrace is too little for what he did! Death should be given to traitors like him, death is what can be done to him that will have him know that he messed up. He almost got several members of our clan killed and then decided it wasn't his fault?" times like these were when Deadfeather really wanted to rip traitors throats out themselves.

Despite the bullying, Nightshiver couldn't help but feel at least a little proud at how far Cougarbite had gotten. She knew Brackenfire would be proud seeing him today... And upset about the recent behaviour. But for once, she banished the thought to the back of her mind, and attempted to shoot the newly named warrior an encouraging smile.

Then, came the downfall of the meeting. A warrior refusing to help a clanmate... Even Nightshiver couldn't find reason in his actions. A cold shiver ran down her spine thinking more cats like that might walk among this clan, but she took a deep breath to steady herself. It was being dealt with. Breathe. Albeit the calls for death were unsettling, she tried to tune it out and concentrate on the better: Cougarbite's warrior ceremony.

Rounded ears perking up as Bigmum continued speaking, Mousepaw's eyes shone with excitement. There had been a challenge?! Between Shadow- no, Mirehound and Cougarivy?! Admittedly, Mousepaw had no idea what a challenge was or what it entailed, but everyone had seemed to be very interested in it, so obviously, it had to be something fun, right? Right! From what was being explained, it seemed to be... a duel? What was a duel? Oh! Oh! A fight! Silly silly! They were going to fight!

Gasp! Wait! Hold up! Why were they going to fight? Did Mirehound and Cougarivy not like each other? If Mousepaw was to be honest, he didn't very much like Cougarivy himself. She had kits with Stinkyshadow. And! And. She ignored them. A lot. Shader was alone so often. Hmph hmph! She was not a good mum, not like Sunsetthorn, who was the best mum ever! So of course, if they had to fight, Mousepaw was hoping Mirehound would win. Mirehound was fun fun! He liked her. He hadn't spoken to her outside of that not-a-game so long ago, but that had been fun, and because of her, he'd met Auntie Larky! Yayayayay! As far as Mousepaw was concerned, Mirehound was one of the best!

But still... a fight for everyone to see? Was it like... like a play fight? Oh yeah yeah yeah. That's totally what it had to be! A super duper rough playing fight that you had to be an enforcer to participate in! And they could vote for which cat won?! Huzzah! Oh, oh! He would have to ask Fuzzy if they could go! He wanted to see the fight, he did he did, mmhmm.

Tapping white tipped toes happily on the ground as he hummed with glee, Mousepaw listened light-heartedly as foxes were mentioned out in the territory. Mousepaw knew what foxes were in passing, having heard the stories and warnings all kits were told, but truthfully he wasn't worried. Fuzzy wouldn't let anything happen to him. His Fuzzy was the best, yes yes yes! At this thought, the gray tom turned an adoring look upon his mentor, chest puffing out with pride, still uncertain how he'd been so luck to be matched with only the most awesomest mentor ever, but not about to ask.

The stocky apprentice's good mood lasted until Dawnstar brought up the matter at paw. About Mintbranch's horrible... stinky, stinky behavior! Mousepaw had no hard feelings about Ivysnake, not knowing anything about the molly outside of her being the Stinky's apprentice. He did not fault her for being mentored under him, however. Mousepaw had not chosen who his mentor was going to be, and if he had been handed to Stinkyshadow as an apprentice, he would have hoped nobody would judge him and compare him to his... his mother's father. Not more than by physique. But even if he had not liked her, he would have never left her out to be attacked without helping! But... but Mintbranch had. Even with his littermates there!

Look. Mousepaw understood. He was angry with his own littermate. When he saw his Hazely again, he was going to rip his ears in half. Not really. But he was going to be very sternly talking to him! Because! Because. He had missed their ceremony! Which was silly silly. But! But... He would never, ever, no matter how angry he was at his silly brother, just let a stinky fox attack him! He would die for his Hazely, even if his Hazely was being a stinkyhead. Just like he had to get strong so he could be there for Fuzzy, just like Fuzzy had been there for him. And for Auntie Larky! And his mum! And Shader and Wrenny and Darky... and everyone! Even Stinky. Because! He was a member of ShadowClan. And that was what clanmates did! Everyone he'd ever met had taught him that! Had someone forgotten to teach that to this evil one?

All this said and done, however, Mousepaw... didn't like either option. A Disgrace sounded fine... but... he would never trust this Mintbranch. If he didn't care for his littermates, then he was just like Stinky. And a cat who didn't care for his family, certainly did not care for his clan. Hmph. He didn't want him in the clan at all! But... but death? It was so... so final. So horrible. Was it really alright? He understood. He did. That he had left his clanmates to die. But they hadn't! So... couldn't they just do what he'd done? Leave him alone. If he didn't want to save anyone, then nobody should try to save him! Guide him out of the clan and never let him come back?

Verdant eyes blinked with uncertainty as he turned from the Shadowledge to his Fuzzy a few times, giving his mentor a questioning look. Mousepaw... he didn't dare speak. He was afraid of what his vote would entail. He didn't want a Disgrace. He didn't want him in the clan at all. But... He knew that if he was the one that had to shred him to bits now, he wouldn't be able to, even if he was strong enough to do it. Was that... was that the right call, though? Maybe... maybe Fuzzy knew better? Fuzzy had led by example all his kit life. He would follow Fuzzy's example now! After all, he was an enforcer too! Surely his opinion was the right one to have!
