|| Heather’Tail hummed, analysing Vine’Blaze and turning away with a shrug. Hunting out here? That seemed a little dangerous, if you asked Heather’Tail. Had he come here for some other reason..? Not for her, of course, but what?

“Well, just be careful when you hunt out here, okay?
Wouldn’t want you falling off,”

She said, standing and turning away from the cliff before she dropped in to a crouch. Not there, not there… no.. There!

Heather’Tail dashed forwards and scooped up the hare in her jaws, biting a killing bite and and dropping it in front of her. Heather’Tail buried the hare, turning back to Vine’Blaze with a small smile. ||

(yo, what if Heather’Tail didn’t think Vine’Blaze “likes” her, but she’s just unconsciously showing off-)

"I'm sure she'll be fine with it." Fernpaw beckoned her to join him with his tail, as he headed out of the den.

FoxPaw nodded and followed him "I suppose I could!"

"Yeah, um..." Maybe if Fernpaw was more experienced, or bolder perhaps, he wouldn't be so prone to hesitation. But fighting wasn't his cup of tea to begin with, and he was lacking in that department. "I.. will try." He had a couple battle training sessions before, nothing too major. Nothing felt closer to reality than this spar, he supposed, was a good way of looking at it.

At least he seemed to be onto something. Was his uncertainty part of why ShadowClan so easily tore him apart?

Fernpaw tried to look more confident as he watched Peachfuzz go into a defensive pose. With those monster mittens of her, he didn't think going at her straight on was a good idea - he'd been battered around enough by cats larger than him. Besides, unless he could.. Oh.

Fernpaw darted around her and leaped, aiming to jump on her back. If it worked, his plan was to hold on tight to her fur - in the hopes that in an actual fight, he'd have the opportunity to do some damage.

With Foxpaw in tow, Fernpaw left the apprentices' den and took a look around for Bravebird. Once he caught a glimpse of her familiar pelt, he joined her. "Would you mind taking us out for some sparring?"

Fallownose perked his ears as he heard a cat yowling and turned to see Perchclaw staring at nothing. He took a concerned step forward and opened his mouth to call out to her when she suddenly collapsed. Letting out a startled yowl he darted over to her side, nosing at her fur for any signs of life. "Perchclaw? W-what, wake up! Cowpaw, Perchclaw's fainted!" he called as he glanced around wildly for the medicine cat, hoping that she would survive until he arrived.

➢ After the border patrol was successfully completed, the burly warrior returned to the deputy with his report. “Fallownose,” Lotuswhisper greeted the Windclan deputy with a respectful dip of his head, “Leafheart, Rabbitpaw and I were all able to mark the Thunderclan borderline without any issue. The young apprentice did well for herself and I’m quite pleased.” He didn’t want to seem like he was expecting her to fail or anything, no, the maine coon simply wanted to give Rabbitpaw praise where it was due. Small stuff like that went a long way. “There was a noticeable scent of a coyote lingering around the Thunderglade, but it was very stale and looked like it had since moved on from here. Other than that, there’s nothing else worth reporting.” It made Lotuswhisper happy that the three of them were able to complete this patrol. The succession of such a thing was satisfying for the tomcat these days. In a time of sickness and chaos, one had to find positivity in simpler places, though it sounded rather hypocritical coming from Lotuswhisper.

Fallownose allowed a purr of amusement to escape his muzzle when Fernpaw called him "Just Fallownose". "Don't worry, it's quite refreshing to be treated like just another Clanmate," he said, easily waving off the apology. As the apprentice began to speak about patrols he gave him his entire attention.

The suggestion that Fernpaw gave was a good one- brilliant even. Battle practice patrols were something he hadn't thought of, and doubted Twilightstar had either. The deputy didn't remember anything of the sort in his forty moons of life. "That's a very good idea, Fernpaw. With patrols being completed on time it wouldn't be a hindrance to assign some. I'll speak to Twilightstar about it later today and work something out."

Fallownose paused for a moment to let Fernpaw speak or add on anything he wanted to, before shifting the topic in a slightly different direction. "How has your time back in WindClan been? Is everyone treating you well?"

It was a relief that Fallownose took his teasing well, because had he become angry .. Fernpaw wasn't sure what he would've done, outside of go loaf and cry. Having Fallownose like his idea was also a confidence booster. Admittedly, Fernpaw hadn't been sure how things would go with Fallownose - he didn't know him very well, like he knew Wolffang .. but he seemed pretty cool. Chill? Yeah, that. "I'm glad you liked it." Battle training patrols might not work out, but it could help prepare the Clan for future battles and generally speaking it seemed like just.. having more practice was better. Hopefully, Twilightstar liked it too.

Then, the topic changed. Fernpaw tilted his head thoughtfully, tooth lightly sunk into his lip. "Well.. I haven't spoken to many cats, but they've all been good. Bravebird especially has been really great." Time had lessened the wound of Owltalon being gone, and.. it was getting to the point where Fernpaw's memory of him was kind of fuzzy. The thought of not being able to recognize a loved one after so long was kind of scary, actually. ".. Are many cats not treating you normally?" Thinking back, it must be very strange to go from being just another warrior to the deputy. Potentially, the next Clan leader. Wild.
