Rainburst's ears turned down. Oh no...she was doing that thing again...that thing her sister always said not to do. Rainburst all but sank into herself. Oh, why did she do this. Her energy all but evaporated, Rainburst spoke up again, this time her words were more subdued.

"Sorry Skyclaw," she meowed, "I didn't mean to act like a kit. My sister's always telling me to calm myself down too and I just don't learn, I guess." Rainburst slid her tail along the ground forlornly.

Skyclaw looked at Rainburst. Calm down, Skyclaw. She's just different. Don't take things to the next level. "It's fine," He mewed. "Just repeat yourself and try not to go too fast and look at me in my eyes so I can understand you better." He sat down. "Try again."

Rainburst squeezed her eyes shut and flinched away from the sound of Skyclaw. Oh no no, it was happening again. She was doing the stupid thing again. What had she learned? With her sister? With her hunting? With every conversation she'd with another cat of Shadowclan?! They didn't appreciate the way she spoke, the way she acted! Rainburst took a deep breath, and when she opened her eyes, it was like she was a different cat.

"What I meant," Rainburst meowed calmly, curling her tail around her paws neatly, "is that you looked pensive. Like you were thinking of something. Something important. Were you?" Her fur had gotten ruffled a bit, and she smoothed it down with a few well placed licks.

Rainburst blinked. Well. She didn’t quite know what she had been expecting, but it hadn’t been that. She wrinkled her nose. Rainburst had literally just become a warrior, she had hadn’t much time to think about mates and kits and all that jazz. She frowned, thinking hard.

“So,” Rainburst started, “I know nothing about being a parent. But I guess if you want to become a father all you have to do is find a mate. Although, you have to think about if you’re ready yet.” Rainburst remembered her own parents. Her mother had been strict, but her father had been kind. Together, they made good parents.

Rainburst made a sound like a laugh. “If you feel ready to be a father, then don’t be a father!” she stated bluntly. “How old are you? You look young, like me. So you have all the time in the world! Don’t be rash. Think about it.” Rainburst suggested.

She sat down, figuring she might have to for this. Rainburst herself had never thought much about being a mother. She didn’t feel ready. So she wasn’t going to be a mother. Besides, Rainburst didn’t think she’d make the best of mothers.
