She didn’t know if it was the rarity or the excitement that followed when she was high in the branches but she was definitely drawn to them. The wind from where the nearby group claimed their territory hit the grayish-blue cats fur. Her eyes lit up. Ever since she met the mysterious and charming cat in the moors the breeze sent the memories back to her. A sigh escaped her maw at the thought. He was handsome, charismatic, and he was out of her clan. How romantic it was, meeting at the outskirts of the borders. Was it love at first sight? The overly-giddy she-cat purred the even the thought of him. Maybe the tom, Lemoncello? Was that his name? Would join Riverclan, so they could live a happily ever after? Rippletail unknowing to that he was actually solely toying with her would seem amusing to some, while she sat in pure excitement at the thought of him coming again. But that wouldn’t happen, as she hadn’t seen him in who knows how long...
Limoncello hardly cared about how many moons he’d been alive to see. It didn’t matter to him how many times the seasons changed, how often a crescent moon appeared in the sky. He didn’t even know how old he was, and if he was being honest, he didn’t care. Knowing your age is just a way to discover how close to death you, he liked to say. Along with ‘She-cats were meant to have tom protectors‘ and ‘The clans exist for messing about’ and ‘Never make friends; all are enemies’. Some would call his mottos the works of the Dark Forest - clan cat insults - but the sleek tom saw no problems with his ways of life. Besides, he’d never suffered any harm from them, and that was all that mattered.

The scent of the moors had overwhelmed Limoncello’s senses as he’d wandered dangerously close to Clam territory, but now the faint smell of river and fish was beginning to become apparent to him as the familiarity of the short grass and strong winds began to compete with the noise of the rushing river. Never would he ever be a water cat, so he wasn’t even sure why he hadn't turned around already, but ever since he’d come close to the borders of the water cat clan, he’d had the mysterious feeling he wasn’t alone. He’d glanced around so many times he was sure if anyone was nearby they’d think he was insane, but still his eyes had never found another living soul. River cats don’t climb, right? He wasn’t sure, but he guessed that you were either the climbing type or the swimming sort, not both. Nonetheless, he stopped walking and glanced up into the few scattered trees, searching for any sign that someone with with him.

If there was a cat up there, though, he wasn’t exactly sure what he’d do. She-cats he could handle - they did everything he asked - but toms were harder. They, more often than not, used brute force and claws when confronted, and Limoncello, clearly lacking in that area, knew he’d fall instantly to one of the more skilled clan cats. He was gifted with words, not fighting techniques. We’ll just have to see how easily swayed they are, he thought as he gazed into the nearby tree. As he squinted, he thought he could just make out a figure within the returning leaves, a bluish shape on a branch. What the heck? I thought they either swam or climbed! Are there new hybrid clans now?

And I thought mine was long

She flicked her strangely patterned raccoon-like tail in the sun. Although her surrounding were comforting at least to her, an uneasy feeling rose in her stomach. Like a presence that she met before were lurking in the shadows. Her mitts itched to run as their could be a possible threat. Rippletail was skittish, she knew, and had to force herself to stay. It could be a squirrel for all she knew. Did squirrels live in Windclan? Probably not. She shook her head. ‘It’s nothing.’ She reminded herself. It was a strange feeling that she had only experienced once before. Shaking her head, she scowled at herself. The molly thought of herself as an idiot sometimes, thinking things that weren’t true. Her pale eyes searched the landscape. No, she wasn’t imagining anything. There was an intruder, probably Windclan, in their territory! A low growl rumbled in her throat. Ever since the incident a few moons back with the handsome and mysterious tom she fell for, she despised the moor-residing cats. To her, they were the reason why he was gone. They probably chased him out of the territory, or maybe even killed him. Not a day went by that she didn’t think of the tom that stole her heart. Now, here Rippletail was. Ready to attack the rabbit-lover not to far ahead of her. Crouching to the ground, claws unsheathed as she heading towards the cats direction. She had to force herself not to hiss or growl once more. Slowly but surely she was heading towards the figure in a silent manner. Once she reached the area when there was no longer any grass to hide in, she sprinting as fast as she could to the cat. Charging at him, she attempted to him to the ground, digging her claws into his shoulder blade if she managed the action.

(XD)

Limoncello’s gaze drifted down from the branches of the river’s trees, his eyes still narrowed into slits. He’d seen nothing, heard nothing, and yet he still couldn’t shake the feeling that someone was nearby. Your instincts, was his excuse. Your instincts are so sharp, you think you’re being followed even though you’re alone. A pitiful excuse, he knew, but it was the best - nevermind only - logical explanation. Besides, his senses were rather developed, he’d been told, and he was rather proud of his breathtaking charm, so if he thought there was someone nearby, they’d show themselves sooner rather than later. He hoped.

What Limoncello didn’t expect was to be thrown to the earth by a bluish gray she-cat with the force of a fox and claws like fire. Completely caught by surprise (he was far to busy admiring his traits to notice her sneak up on him) the tom was suddenly looking up at the sky, his yellowed fur pressed into the barren ground of the moors. He felt claws begin to slide their way into his shoulder, jerking him back to the reality where he was being mauled by a river cat - a female one, at that. He let out a war whoop, his thorn like white teeth showing as his cry slid into a horrifying hiss. He bucked, attempting to throw her weight and knock her off. Stupid, overconfident she-cats. They think thy can managed on their own, take down one of the supreme male gender? I’ll give her a lesson she’ll never forget.

It’d been many moons since he’d first met the mysterious cat from the river. Again, he had no idea how long, but she’d never completely left his mind, like an ever present shadow, a ghost of someone he could never be. Limoncello remembered her smile, the way she purred when his tail brushed the underside of her chin. She wasn’t the first, oh no, but she’d stayed the most prominent figure in his life despite the fact they hadn’t even seen each other in moons. There was something about her, something different besides the normal gullibility and forced charm all females seemed to possess. Did he like her, necessarily? No. But a part of him did feel sorry for what she’d lose should they meet again.

And when she’d thrown herself on him, her attack stance evident in the way she’d shoved him into the moor grass and bugs, he’d gotten a glimpse of a face. A familiar face. One that brought back memories of hidden secrets and stolen nights. Memories of the cat who’d haunted him for the past hundred moons.

Viperpaw looked around to make sure no one was watching and jumped the boundary between her territory and windclans. Then again she looked around to see if an was watching. She saw a brown tabby tom sitting there calmly like he was waiting for something. "Psst! Lightningpaw! " She whispered through gritted teeth. He jumped a foot in the air and turned around and slammed into her nuzzling her all over. "Viperpaw Viperpaw! You came!" "Ya of course! I love you fish-brain!" ( oooh strong words Viper!!!) Meowed Viperpaw. Then a voice startled them. "You, Lightningpaw and your companion are going to see, Buttercupstar! And you are a Riverclan cat! Why in Starclan are you here.?" They turned around to see Deerstripe , Lightningpaws mentor. She marched them over to the camp and mutters spread throughout the clan as Lightningpaw licked Viperpaws shoulder. Viperpaw marched facing everything and everyone daring them to laugh. One cat who was watching them laughed. She took a detour and went straight up to Rabbitpaw and sliced his nose, hard enough for a scar. "Owwwwww!!!" He cried.

Rowanflower lead the patrol out of the camp, ducking beneath the hanging trendils that had returned as all the frost faded away. Sprouts of green had begun popping up around the territory which gave her hope there wouldn't be anymore snow in their future. A great sign of this was the rain clouds that had drifted overtop the territory spitting down the littlest drops of water. The humidity was definetly not helping though, her fur was curling and puffing up in all different directions which made her look like a curly puff of tabby fur. Never ever been more embarrassed especially when she was patrolling with three respected warriors and fallenstar himself, certainly out of her element for sure. ' ' this is your job, remember that Rowan, this is your job ' ' she reassured herself as she pushed her way through the treeline and trekes deeper into damp and sleeping territory. ' ' i thought we should head to the windclan border ' ' she said gently as she moved into a more comfortable walk.

Act like normal. Be normal.

There was always that fear of failure in front of fallenstar of all cats, but she trusted her abilities to fulfil at least this job. It was the simplest of her jobs that didn't require much thought as long as everyone else cooperated nicely. If they happened to bump into any windclan patrols she wouldn't hesitate to allow fallenstar deal with the whole issue, in fact she was glad she had asked him to accompany them this time. If there was trouble who better to handle it than fallenstar, and if there was no trouble, it was always good to get him out of his den for a walk or something. She had learned much from the time they interacted on the border and it was carried around behind her as an afterthought. Thought the other warriors she didn't know much, in fact she didn't know even a few details about them. Ripplethorn seemed nice enough as she was and she knew fallenstar, though the other two warriors on this patrol seemed to be a different story altogether. Shadowscarred and Spicestorm appeared as though they may or may not butt heads with each other or even her.

I think I'll leave that
with fallenstar to deal with.
Maybe...

The orange and cream coloured tabby felt a shiver work its way down her spine and get flicked off the end of her tail. ' ' I don't want anybody to speak out of line if we do happen to encounter windclan cats ' ' she said gently turning her green gaze on the warriors and leader behind her. It felt out of place to be giving instruction but that's what she needed to learn how to do, as long as it didn't interfere with what fallenstar was looking to do. ' ' is that understood? ' ' she asked eyes fixating on spicestorm than Shadowscarred. She may misunderstand them but she may be taking the proper precaution to prevent any problems in the future. As she settled back into walking in the silence the patter of the raindrops around her began to settle in and she found peace with it. Almost like everyone behind her was gone and she was walking alone with her thoughts. A yawn pulled at her jaws and she parted them to suck in the brisk air and squinting her eyes shut for a moment.

Damp, humid and damp. Like the deputy, it made his fur fluff up, tufts of ebony fluff sticking up, defying gravity. At this point, Riverclan was practically just walking puff balls. He was tense, awkwardly padding behind the patrol of 5, blue optics locked on to his paws, seeing if he could walk in a straight line. He hadn't truly interacted with his clanmates in a while, he had hidden himself away in his den, only really meeting with Cedarsprint for updates, Rowanflower, and Heatherfur to keep an eye on her. He thought everything was moving quickly before, but now, not it was like three moons passed in a blink of an eye, that everything horrible in the exsitance of everything living had made sure to set up it's camp over Riverclans head. He couldn't breathe. It was crushing his lungs, the weight of the expectations, the worry, the excitement, the fear that came pulsing from his clanmates. He felt like he was being shoved under the waves, drowning, he couldn't swim up for air.

The leader was so deeply immersed into his thoughts that he bumped into a rock, letting out a startled gurgle. He fell back onto his rump and rubbed his forehead, letting out a low hiss of pain, eyes screwed shut. Emberassing, the leader of Riverclan was a clumsy mess. "Sorry...I wasn't paying attention I'm...well, thinking of a lot of future...stuff." he wheezed, shooting his clanmates a forced smile. Of course, that smile didn't last long, a second after it was wiped off his face and replaced with a thin frown. The ebony feline picked himself off and shook off the moss and dust, licking his chest fur. "Sorry Rowanflower...the Border sounds great, but we just have to be careful is all." he stated, the forced joy that was dripping from his voice now vanished in the humid air. It made his stomach churn, all this fake sweetness, all these masks he had to put on, fake smiles, fake joy, fake cheer, fake felines. It started to gyre in the pit of his stomach, punch his soul, cause the voices in his head to scream, wail, screech, blubber incoherent words and chants. It made his everything scream in pain.

Fallenstar continued to tag along in the back, keep an eye on the other warriors. Or that's what he was telling himself. It seemed like a good idea to tag along when it came up, but now that he was here, not so much. He had noticed that he wasn't the only one who seemed...tense. His lapis hues locked onto the ginger molly, a sense of uncertainty washed over him, another wave pushing him deeper into the water. Last they had spoken to one another, he had to pull her out of the mud, he had to lie to her face and tell her that everything was going to be fine, that Tumblestep was coming back. We all knew that wasn't true. When you loose someone, they don't come back, Honeypool, Geckoleaf, and Juniperpaw were all great examples of this. Everyone he had begun to become friends with disappeared. So, instead of trying to fix it, he began to push himself away, sent his deputy to interact with all his clanmates, make friends. Of course, he did need to stretch his legs every once in a while.

As Rowanflower made eye contact with him a sense of his old self flashed in his being, nothing but warmth radiated from him for a pure second, from times when everything was better and simple. "No promises." he snickered, padding up next to the feline. Of course he noticed that she too began to space out, go off into her little world. His tail lashed behind him and he returned his gaze to the space in front of him. "Maybe you should go back and get some sleep." he stated, looking at Rowanflower for a few seconds before shifting his gaze down to his paws as he padded forward. He didn't know what he was supposed to do, he had so many mixed emotions toward her, so many mixed emotions in general.

[oof this was horribly put together, lmao sorry if it doesn't make any sense I'm tired XD ]

Lightningstrike ran across the moor with 4 kits pelting beside her. "Keep up Snowkit!" She called and stoped at the edge Windclans boundary and waited for Clawriver

The russet colored tomcat hadn’t expected to go on a patrol with both the deputy and the leader. He was slightly worried about it though, who was back watching the clan? But he knew that Riverclan had plenty of capable warriors to protect if something bad did happen. Tensions were still high in the clans, and Spicestorm could feel it. It was like an electric current in the air, making cat’s fur stand on end and the entire earth feel like it was pulsing, anticipating for something, anything to happen.

Today though, was wet and dreary. Unlike most Riverclan cats, who had thick pelts, Spicestorm wasn’t at all bothered by the rain or the humidity. His short pelt shone with its continuous glossiness, his muscles easily showing through his thin fur. The tomcat had always been a spitting image of his father, even now. Though of course, he was a lot younger and more able than his father who had now retired to the elder’s den. As the tom continued to follow the patrol, his thoughts shrouded across his face, causing his eyes to cloud over. Spicestorm thought of his family, and how broken it had become. His father, no longer mates with his mother and now retired to the elders den. Most of his aunts and uncles either dead or missing. His mother taking care of his half-siblings in the nursery, and he figured she would probably retire soon enough, once the kits were apprentices. And all of his siblings.... Either dead or missing and presumed dead. Seapath had returned to Riverclan, but died quickly after. Applethorn was presumed dead, Cricketpaw was dead, Stormkit had died a long time ago, and now Rabbitleap was missing, and of course, presumed dead. The tomcat had little family left he could rely on. He still loves his mother with all of his heart, but she was busy with her new kits, kits that he only shared half of his blood with. Spicestorm still wasn't sure what to think of them.

A female voice pierced through his thoughts, and the Bengal looked up, registering what Rowanflower had just said. He figured she was talking to him, as she focused her eyes on his for a moment before looking towards another one of the warriors in the patrol. Spicestorm didn’t really know the other two cats, Ripplethorn and Shadowscarred. He figured he would only talk to them if he absolutely had to. He wasn’t in the mood to meet new cats.
The tomcat nodded his head, a silent agreement to his deputy’s words. As the patrol continued in silence for a while, Spicestorm let his blue-green eyes lift from the ground ground to focus on Rowanflower, and now Fallenstar, walking just in front of him. The tomcat wondered if he should try to talk to Rowanflower. He’d heard about Tumblestep going missing, and he himself had been devastated. Tumblestep was his uncle, and although Spicestorm hadn’t known him too well, the gray-furred tom has always made him laugh. And he knew his mother had loved her little brother.
Spicestorm wondered if he should say something to Rowanflower about it, but figured it was best not to. He knew that he didn’t like cats mentioning Quillpaw. The warrior missed his younger friend deeply, he had been one of the only cats outside of his family that he had gotten along with.

Maybe I should just make some casual conversation... But that was one of the hardest things for Spicestorm to do. Was to make casual conversation. Small talk. But he knew that he needed to talk more, to put himself out there more. His mother had wanted him to do that, she hadn’t wanted him to avoid cats like she always had when she was younger. And Spicestorm wanted to make his mother happy. He didn’t want to be a disappointment to her, especially since he was her last kit with Russetswirl. Maybe she’s glad all her other kits are gone, because we reminded her of what she had... Spicestorm let out a low growl as he pushed the thought away. He couldn’t believe that even crossed his mind! He knew saw his mother as one of the most loving cats in the world. She had taken care of all her just so well, and every other one had rejected her. Except for him. Her only son. Though joe she had more sons with Scorchingflame.

Shaking his head, Spicestorm picked up his pace, a sudden impulsiveness coming over him. He matched his pace with Fallenstar’s and Rowanflower’s, coming to walk on the right side of the deputy. For a moment, his mind was blank. He couldn't think of anything to say. He had no idea what to say to the two cats. They’re cats, just like you. He reminded himself, and he instantly felt better as he spoke. ”Rowanflower, Fallenstar.” He started, dipping his head respectfully. “A bit of a wet day, isn’t it?” He let a small smile come across his face, hoping that his small talk didn’t seem too out of place.

Whipping her head around to glare at who ever had snapped at her eyes landed on Fallenstar. Maybe you should, you have been hiding form us.... too scared to lead your own clan? knowing that she had snapped at the leader she guessed he would snap back at her, not that it mattered really. After this he was probably gonna hide away again. Might as well run off and make Rowanflower the leader, Rowanstar. Ripplethorn could see this happening, not Fallenstar running away but Rowanflower becoming Rowanstar. She liked the sound of that name. Lifting her head high she looked Fallen star right in the eye and said Get your head out of the clouds and come back here, the clan needs you too, more than the sky she corrected her walking.

I will try Rowanflower She smiled. Lifting up her tail she measured her gait until she was equal with Fallenstar. Shaking her curled fur she looked at Falleenstar , she had never really noticed that his pelt was black.
