``Oh sweetheart no need to cry,`` She comforted, even though she herself felt like bawling her eyes out. ``That was beautiful.`` The poor thing, just seeing him sad made the molly's heart squeeze.

The small cream tom pawed at his leaf. He'd accidentally dropped it while singing. Twigkit closed his eyes and hummed the song again in hopes to comfort himself.

She stayed close to Twigkit, laying her head down on the ground and watching. She made it her personal mission to be there for the little guy if he ever needed it. She listened to him hum the song once more, soothed by the lullaby. She wasn't lying when she said it was beautiful.

Twigkit picked the leaf back up, and curled up next to Lullabycry. He hummed some more before drifting off to sleep, purring quietly. He liked this cat... she listened to him. She cared about him. She truly truly cared. The cream tom laid his head in his paws as his ear twitched.

Her heart melted as the tom curled up next to her, a smile on her face. Oh how sweet he was. She'd forever protect him. She looked ahead of her and listened to the rhythmic purring, soon drifting off to sleep.

Twigkit yawned, still sleeping. He had dreams of his mother. Well, less like dreams... more like memories. There was one that had his father... one with his little sister... he listened to his mother sing. But... then the dream changed.

 

Blood... blood everywhere. There was screaming... he heard his mother cry. Twigkit watched his sister be torn apart by a huge grey dog. It howled, leaving his sisters mangled, crippled blood soaked body. Then it advanced on his mother. Twigkit screamed, crying "No!" His father leapt in front of the dog, but it threw him to the side. The tom coughed up a pool of blood before falling to the blood soaked ground. Twigkit's mother dropped, sobbing as she watched her family die. Twigkit saw something cowering next to his mother... it was a little cream lump of fur. It was him. His mother looked down at the younger Twigkit, and he realized why he remembered that lullaby. It was the last thing he heard before his mother died. The giant dog howled again before mangling the molly. Not realizing there was another cat beneath her, the dog left... galloping into the woods. Twigkit watched himself crawl out from underneath his dead mother, curling next to her. The young Twigkit sobbed, shaking his mother... "Wake up!" The kit cried. "Wake up!"

With a start, Twigkit awoke, crying his eyes out. He didn't realize he had been wailing in his sleep...

That's when she understood. She wrapped her tail around him, grooming his pelt to soothe him. The poor kit had been through so much...``I'm sorry little one..it's over now..``
