May Gathering

Pretty late into the gathering, Whiskernose noticed Deadpool and gave a delighted chitter. He never got to sit down and talk to her, which had been a huge disappointment. She was a very sweet cat.
He stood up, wincing as his wounds stung and carefully creeped up to her, trying not to disturb anyone else's experience and sat beside her, purring.
"Long time no see, Deadpool. How have you been? I'm sorry we didn't get to chat when I was in Windclan."

In the middle of the clearing, Flowerleaf glanced around. She had nothing else to do but stand around, starting at random cats... "Heyo, Puddlepaw!" she called from the spot she was sitting. Gotta get my words out for once, she thought eagerly, finally getting to chat with at least one cat. It didn't matter if he was an apprentice, at least there was someone around.

Heathernose giggled and responded, “I am too!” The feeling of loneliness that had been following her everywhere seemed to be dissipating fast in his presence and Heathernose offered a sweet smile, not wanting the tom to end their conversation and leave her alone. She found flirting to be exhilarating and she couldn’t help feeling excited by the handsome cat’s attention. She was surprised by his question, though, and not entirely sure what he meant. Her chest fluttered, though, and she found herself wanting to agree to anything with this tom. Yet, she didn’t know what he meant and couldn’t quite become the mate of someone she’d just met. Still, she purred, “I would love to be.” The answer surprised her as it came out, but she wanted to continue talking to Thornsprint. Besides, she wasn’t promising to be his mate, merely to continue talking to him.

Thornsprint had been lost in his thoughts and plans as they threatened to take his attention away from the feline in front of him. He had been imagining and overthinking scenarios for later, as he was prone to do. The warrior was an overthinker for sure. It was what he considered one of his few negative qualities. He snapped back to attention right before she spoke again, finding this whole thing rather interesting. It was certainly interesting how a cat could go from a stranger to more than a friend with just a night of "kind conversation" and "smiles". His green eyes shone in the moonlight as Heathernose said yes. Sure, she wasn’t agreeing to be his mate quite yet, simply... getting there. He knew he had her attention now. "Fantastic," he purred with a nice smile. "I can’t wait to spend more time with you." He gently pressed against the she-cat as a gesture of good will and comfort. Her pelt felt soft on his, and he found himself enjoying the sensation only slightly. Then again, what cat wouldn’t enjoy soft things?

Puddlepaw quickly turned around as he heard someone call his name. Finally! At least someone was willing to talk to him, even if it was one of his own clanmates. "Oh! Hai Flowerleaf!" He smiled and bounced over to the warrior, happy to socialize. The russet and black tom had been getting a little worried that he would be spending the entirety of the gathering sitting alone in silence. "This is my first gathering! I was getting a little nervous, so I haven't exactly talked to anyone else yet. But I didn't realize how interesting the gatherings could get!" As any cat, Puddlepaw had been surprised by the sudden exiling that had taken place, but that was only one of the many things the eventful night had intrigued him with.

"Yes, gatherings are remarkably interesting, " Flowerleaf purred. She hasn't communicated to another feline for a while, so this genuinely was a great gathering so far. @Puddletail

Puddlepaw smiled, but looked at his feet a little. He wasn't quite sure what to say. "Soooo, how's life been for you?" He inwardly cringed a little at his basic question, but he really couldn't think of anything else to say. Besides, if they kept up the conversation, it might eventually come to a topic that was genuinely interesting.

"It's quite nice, actually, " she answered politely. She didn't know what else to say, either, so to spice things up, she added, "Catching rabbits, cats not knowing my name..." she chuckled a little at her own horrible joke, though it made no sense at all. @Puddletail

Warning bells blared in her ears and she felt a bit uncomfortable, but everything was lost under exhilaration and butterflies. She’d never known she could form attachments so quickly! “I look forward to getting to know you too,” she purred with a sweet smile. It wasn’t exactly what he’d said to her, but it was her quiet way of telling him that she wanted to get to know him as a cat, not just jump right to the physical. His suggestion that she be his rose and he her thorns led Heathernose to believe that he wanted more than just a physical fling, but it never hurt to set up ground rules with these charming toms. Besides, she’d never heard of cats becoming romantically entangled so fast unless they were flings. Or soulmates! The hopeful voice in her whispered and Heathernose brushed it off as imagination, but secretly her butterflies thought differently.

Irisflame bursted out into fits of laughter, the honeyed sound cheerful and pleased. Lionstar, the king of the forest? Not on her watch! She knew if she ever needed to, she could scratch his ears off. She didn't hate the golden tom, she simply found him annoying. Always the 'best and most wonderful' leader around. Personally, she liked Twilightstar. She was calm, determined, and fiercely loyal. Who wouldn't like her?!
"I know, right?! His clanmates treat him like he's Starclan or something! You'd swear he's sacred." She mewed back, the exclaim barely heard above the yowls that radiated around them. Shut up, fish-brains. She hissed silently, eyebrows raised in a dainty manner.

Runningpaw smiled at the fellow apprentice's excitement, and seeing that she agreed with most of her views, she was content. She finally had a cat to rant with. Puffing out her chest, she shrugged.
"Good that you agree- wasn't sure if you were one of those modest weirdos."

Irisflame could feel his gaze flit down to her paw, a reminder of all of the tragedy that had taken place, on that day... It's not your fault. She remembered the words spoken by her dearest Slatecloud when she'd visited her in Starclan. She fought to remain strong, battling through the words that escaped Stonenettle's thorn-sharp tongue. Her eyes thundered with fury as he targeted the medicine cats. What foxheart would...?!
"They do more than your lazy backside does everyday. We have to support the entire clan, sustain their lives, and what do you do?" She mewed, pausing, a smug smile on her face. Shrugging, she continued, "Oh, right! You selfish disappointment of a father wallows in his own self pity while the rest of us to all the work!" She sneered, integrating her claws. She couldn't fight, it was illegal at a gathering, and besides, she didn't know how- but she hoped he saw it as a threat.
"We don't make up our prophecies, you imp! Perhaps I haven't had any yet, but I've visited Slatecloud plenty of times. I'm sure she'd be disappointed in you if she was here."

Her words implied that she had an underlying suspicion. Perhaps she thought it was only a fling? Well, he would assure her it wouldn’t be. Honestly, he was actually looking forward to getting to know this she-cat. The more he knew, the easier it would be to carry out his thoughts. Plus, it never hurt to learn about others. One could never tell what the future could hold. "Of course. There’s so much to learn about you, Heathernose. What your favorite season is, your favorite kind of prey. So many favorites! So much to remember! Looks like I’m going to have to use this thing for once." he gestured to his head, chuckling. Thornsprint focused for a second on the gathering, and it seemed like it wasn’t getting any more interesting. Hmm. He turned his full attention oh Heathernose, making sure to look like he was only focused on her. It would make her feel special, he presumed. To have a cat’s full attention was rare. Many times they were thinking of other things, as he’d come to observe. Food, patrolling, even other cats. Thornsprint hoped that she felt that he only had eyes for her.
